[QUOTE="Fruity_Fantasy"][QUOTE="kankthetank"][QUOTE="Fruity_Fantasy"][QUOTE="kankthetank"] You know, this sort of thing happens all the time in the business world; between the developers and their publishers. However, I believe that Epic was probably forced to lay it out in the open and to an extent, I agree with you, GermanShepard, that what Microsoft is doing is starting to anger me quite a bit.
I support xbox Live, it's a great service and I don't mind paying for it but all this microtransactions crap on top of the service price is just too much, imo. I can understand from a business perspective, considering the huge fanbase, that having the new Gears of Wars maps for a price can be a profitable move. But come on...Microsoft's acting like they're alone in this competition and incidents like this are gonna bite them back in the ass. Somehow, I'm hoping Sony would take advantage of this situation just to let MS learn their lesson.

So you think none of Sony games(the few their are) won't even charge fro maps at the SOny store? Guess again.
That's not what I'm saying, obviously it'll happen sometime (I wouldn't mind, anyway, considering that PSN is free). What I'm trying to say is MS isn't really in a desperate position such that it would force Epic to put a price on the new maps. Because, this is becoming a really annoying trend...paying extra over what we already frickin payed ($60 + XBL service); isn't that enough? I didn't mind paying for those; neither the XBLA games, but for even extra stuff that were already promised to be free...Yeah, it's simply "milking"....I'd start considering who's really the "cow" this generation.People have a choice to buy something or not, if you don't like MS don't use windows, don't play your Xbox and sell it , therefore not buying anymore games and supporting it.
Sony doesn't stick it to you with hardware? They have TVs, stereos, phones and they own half the movie industry. The only thing I see MS intervening with is computers and games, I could give a rat's ass about MSNBC or other ways MS makes profits.
I love my 360 and I don't get milked cause I choose what I buy, maybe you are one of those people that have to buy everything or have someone buy everything for you. I don't know your situation. Gears was one of the best games to come out in a long time and I got my money's worth and have no regrets.Â
P.s. I wasted more money on SOny hardware than MS products. I bought walkmans that broke and Stereos that broke. If this TV I have that is a SOny breaks I will never touch a SOny product again. I also have a Sony Ericsson phone that is way too low in volume and I can't wait to get a decent phone.
I love my 360 and I don't hate Microsoft at all. In fact, I look up to the company since it's one of the most successful ones in the world. I actually despise all those MS is "evil" comments. However, like I said, while I understand the reasoning behind their move for wanting to charge for the maps, I just believe this could be the start of something that could really be irritating for gamers in the future. If more and more people are willing to pay for such content, businesses/ publishers will start taking advantage of that and who knows how games will be effected by that (in terms of length, content, etc. [like I said in my last post]).It's the consumer that messes it up for us by "buying" things then. If people didn't pay for those new maps then they most likely wouldn't be charged for. If people are willing to waste money on entertainment , which we don't need to exist by the way, then companies (all of them) will be willing to charge.
You don't think Blu-Ray if succesful won't put a dent in consumers pockets since Blu-Ray movies cost more?
Do you think that maybe Sony will most likely have to lower their price on the Ps3 which is basically worthless right now and is losing exclusives cause it isn't selling well? (the answer is yes to that by the way)
As everybody knows on here lots of people steal from software companies and music publishers by getting illiegal copies of games, and other software. Right now peopel are downloading free movies and music(Mp3s). I don't blame these companies for charging for stuff cause of people that rip them off all the time and will continue to do so.
