[QUOTE="The_Capitalist"]LOL!! No. Microsoft overpriced their tablet compared to the compeition and didn't even add any extra features. Microsoft's Surface to the Apple's IPad 4 is like the PSP Go to the PSP. Microsoft pretty much shot themselves in the foot. One of the guys who helped to launch the original XBox was on the project and they pulled him off of it because he was taking to long to get the Surface launched. So they brought some other guy on board to finish the job and this mess is the results. Now Microsoft has poor sales and no one really wants the Surface with the terrible Windows 8 on it. I can see people getting an IPad Mini, Kindle Fire HD or a Nexus tablet before wasting their money on a Surface. My wife loves her Kindle Fire HD and I'm pretty happy with the IPad 2.Never mind the low specs.
Imagine playing Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, or some other old school game on the train on a Surface with the digitizing pen.
Imagine the freaken possibilities. PC gaming at the palm of one's hand is now possible!

Thread is about Surface Pro.
ArchAngel 777, your posts are educated and eloquent and you pretty much took the words out of my mouth on this thread.
I seriously don't get it. Who are they trying to market this thing to that don't already have some sort of tablet?psx_warriorme. got my surface last week. its awesome, using it now.

I dont care. Most people are probably better with a great $600 rig and a nexus 7 to do abit of gaming/productivity on the go . Now if you are better suited for surface pro then good but you are probably the vast minority and i wouldnt be surprised if surface pro sales are disappointing for MS at the end ( especially at its price considering you can get a similar specced ultrabook for $150-200 less )[QUOTE="SUD123456"][QUOTE="adamosmaki"] $600 gaming rig + $300 nexus 7. Sure, and its screen is horrible in comparison.
And it has no touchscreen support.
And it has no pen/stylus & support
And it has no MicroSDXC card support
Which if you want to add those things equals the price of a surface pro.

There are alot of tablets with a 1600x900 screens that still are $800 ( really the extra pixels actually worth to you the extra $100,no physical KB,less HD and probably worst battery life ? ) Yeah sure no touchscreen it has something better when comes to use it as what you intend ( productivity ). Razer Edge tablet isa a lot better choice for gaming tablet than Surfacer Pro. Heck..with it's add-ons it also looks like much more sensible ultrabook replacement than Surface Pro will be.
I'd like to see some sort of touch functionality for old games PC games that don't require quick reflexes, or that have too much reliance on mouse control.
I've always thought a windows tablet would be incredibly awesome for my library of GOG games. I could easily enjoy games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, or the Might and Magic series with a touch screen.
Microsoft's 64GB Surface Pro will only have 23GB usable storage
''A company spokesperson has confirmed to The Verge that the 64GB edition of Surface Pro will have 23GB of free storage out of the box. The 128GB model will have 83GB of free storage. It appears that the Windows 8 install, built-in apps, and a recovery partition will make up the 41GB total on the base Surface Pro model.''

It means your pretty much going to have to get the 128GB edition if you want to do anything somewhat serious. This is going to be a big deal. I imagine Ultrabooks suffer the same as Windows 8 is on them too.

I don't want damn micro usb to usb or any additional connection to the device thank you. plays the productivity card with a laptop (which then doesn't act as a tablet AGAIN MAKING YOUR POINT MEANINGLESS IN CONTEXT to the device.) despite the surface being quite thin, light, has a keyboard and easily with a mini mouse to use.
So not only i will have the tablet i will need to carry separately a KB+M ? Again why not get a laptop if productivity is so important ? Or should i get a tablet case with KB that probably is an extra $100? You dont mind carrying a mouse and a keyboard for your tablet yet you mind a 10gr 5cm OTG cable ?
Also again like i said gamepads are supported without root on Android now if some wireless gamepads require root to get them working it still doesnt nullify my point about gamepads working on Android without the need to do anything ( and there are wireless controllers for Android as well )
The point of my whole argument and i dont know how can you defend this is that $900 for a tablet are alot especially if you consider that there are laptops with much better specs at the same price let alone ultra-books some of which are the same specs and are cheaper and are as easy to carry as that tablet . Not even gonna mention battery life which is one major plus of tablets but with an i5 CPU and north of 7-8Watts TDP probably it will be misareble on surface compared to other tablets

Mate, the keyboard, is a very thin front cover... thats attached/detachable, it barely has any thickness. and a mini mouse is much smaller than even a PS3/Xbox 360 controller... At least you have a physical keyboard with a surface unlike a nexus, DAT TOUCH TYPING. Why should I carry 2 devices around when I can carry 1? ITS THAT SIMPLE. and no it doesnt nullify your point, because my point was if I wanted to use a controller the way **** I **** wanted, which on most non-PHABLET devices is allowed without no complications (computers, laptops, Windows 8 tablets) or voiding warranting because of these ristrictive jumbo phone operating systems. Laptops with good specs are heavy, bulky AND DO NOT HAVE TABLET FUNCTIONALITY. and cannot act as tablets. An ultrabook is heavy and thick nowdays ?
You still can use gamepads on Android just because the one you have requires rooting doesnt mean you cant
If to you that tablet functionality worth $900 instead $250-500 most tablets are sold then dont be surprised whne surfuce sales turnud up disappointing
and if i were to get a $900 tablet with bad battery life that is one of the selling points of tablets i might as well get the Razer one that at least has a dedicated GPU and better specs overall

You still can use gamepads on Android just because the one you have requires rooting doesnt mean you cant
If to you that tablet functionality worth $900 instead $250-500 most tablets are sold then dont be surprised whne surfuce sales turnud up disappointing
and if i were to get a $900 tablet with bad battery life that is one of the selling points of tablets i might as well get the Razer one that at least has a dedicated GPU and better specs overall
omg. missing the point again. And ultrabook IS thin yes, but they are similar priced and DO NOT ACT AS ATABLET. yet this surface ACTS AS AN ULTRABOOK. You mean I can't have a wireless controller on a wireless devices without wires? HOKAY... thats great.... surface sales will be small yes. the current generation of hybrids are not quite "there". but the phablets don't come close to the same functionality. stop mixing them up.[QUOTE="adamosmaki"][QUOTE="MBirdy88"] Mate, the keyboard, is a very thin front cover... thats attached/detachable, it barely has any thickness. and a mini mouse is much smaller than even a PS3/Xbox 360 controller... Ultrabooks are only slightly cheaper for similar specs (minus storage, but there had to be some give away) and can not act as tablets. and as I said, 3-4 hours is fine. my "gaming laptop" of old lasted 1 hours without battery GOOD IDEA.MBirdy88

Did you hear me say you cant have wireless gamepads or somethimg. Like i said there are already wireless gamepads for android so my point about been able to use gamepads on android since it supports them native stands Also my whole point is what exactly surface can do that a $250-300 tablet and a good $600-700 laptop cant do and actually do better ? Heck what exactly it can do a Nexus 7 alone cant do ?[QUOTE="MBirdy88"][QUOTE="adamosmaki"]omg. missing the point again. Mate... it runs software so that blows away your argument straight away. let me know when my nexus can do that. its also bigger, has a better screen, has a usb and hdmi/ and micro SD slot. Its also a WACOM tablet with pen. let me know when my nexus will have that and still remain cheap. let me know when my nexus 7 and [insert **** $600 laptop here] will be able to meld into one and be portable in such a nice book-like form-factor. Ofcourse it will cost abit more than 2 seperate because it does the job of both in one form factor, its no rocket science. Its like saying why buy a decent camera smart phone when I can buy a cheaper smart phone and buy a cheap-but-similar quality digital camera... BECAUSE WHATS THE POINT. $900 for a WACOM Tab, a more powerful than ipad/nexus 7 Tablet with bigger screen, and the power of an ultrabook (minus possible storage.) is NOT that bad value for money in one device. wake up.You do know you can use keyboards ( any keyboard as long as its a usb or bluetooth ) on Android ?

I dont even want a surface, I'm just pointing out that phablets are abit of a joke.
I want this personally.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tM-MFZQM0-Y
too bad, its like £1400 ..... but as more generations of these devices become cheaper, phablets and ultrabooks will become a cheap joke.

Please stop with the phablets word, they serve their purpose well and aren't bad. I have an IPAD and I like it very much, it does what I need it to do. On the same token I'm very interested in the surface as it has a full blown version of windows on it, the upcoming one that is. All the other current tablets have droid and IOS on it. Another thing that people are not realizing is the surface is only available at select stores and Microsoft stores. The reason for this is to satisfy Microsoft customers who are also in the tablet market. So of course the sales aren't going to be great. The Surface is for people who wanted a little more out of a tablet in which the current tablets do not provide. The first thing he said was "never mind the low specs" once I read that I wrote this comment. end this thread now

Keyboard and Mouse No microSDXC ? Really dude ? Just pick an el cheapo USB ? Let alone the 500gb HD ?It is a tablet and a fully functional laptop/netbook. Â Why is that so hard for you to understand?
You get all the power with a better form factor at 2lbs. Â The question is does it manage the tradoffs?
MicroSDXC is important because it helps in the tradeoff between form factors. Â Of course it won't completely offset the space advantage that a HDD drive offers, but note that the number 1 tablet does not have this at all. Â So it allows a useful amount of more space helping to offset the requirements for running windows and gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of total storage. Â And it still allows you to have the USB 3 port for any plug in, if you need that. Â Better than the tablet competitor, not as good as a laptop; but a workable compromise.
The screen is massively important to the tablet form factor. Â You can get away with the lower resolution, too dark, bad viewing angle, useless outdoors screen that is on the HP Envy 4 for work productivity, but there is a reason that the screen is so important to smartphones and tablets. Â This is a huge must have in the tablet product category and the surface pro is up there with the very best.
Touch screen. Â Should be obvious. Â Essential to the tablet form factor. Â Raising the question means you don't get it...at all.
KB/M available. Â No different than the netbook. Â The two available keyboads are both brilliant in form factor but I would agree that they are overpriced.
Stylus/pen. Â Not needed by everyone, but very useful if you are so inclined and works extremely well on the surface.
It is two very good to excellent devices in one. Â If you want to talk about going el cheapo then this is not the device for you; however, it is well priced for what it actually does. Â If you want a HP Envy 4 series go for it, but it does not offer anything like the complete 2 in 1 solution that the surface does. Â Not even close.
