Seems that Microsoft is doing a little of the same mistakes they still haven't learned from the original Xbox. Spending too much money and time marketing Halo rather than focusing on having some more diverse and exclusive franchises that you wont find on any other platform. The Playstation may have had a rough start, but you can be assured that it still has the most exclusive content you wont find on a PC or the 360. M$ built up Halo for the original xbox, was the most advanced at that time and still lost money and still couldn't sell any consoles in Japan,so it pulled the plug early and jumped next-gen. Seems like a similiar scenario is happening again...only difference is...they have hardware issues to deal with.

well that little " halo" is worthy of heavy advertisments....

and you cant say that they did a bad job with other exclusives because bioshock sold 400k in the first week :|

Too Human? Mass Effect? Forza 2? PGR 4? Banjo Threeie? Fable 2? All 360 exclusives, and all published by MS. Then when you add in the various Console exclusives (meaningless in SW but significant in console sales) you get Bioshock, Alan Wake, C&C 3: Kane's Wrath, Splintercell: Conviction and a whole bunch of others. To say MS hasn't focused on games other than Halo is rediculous.

Doesn't make it a shooter. The Fallout games all featured shooting, they're RPG's too. Hell you can use a bow in most RPGs, I guess they're shooters too.

So does FFX-2. Guess that's a shooter as well. As does MGS and Splinter Cell...SHOOTERS!

Its kind of hard because they don't have a lot of established franchises like Sony does that they can fall back on. Sony has had franchises like MGS and Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo since the original PS. And franchises like Devil May Cry (although its no longer exclusive) since the PS2.

Microsoft has the next installment of Fable which it can use. But even though the series doesn't interest me, I can't believe they haven't started on KOTOR 3 considering how popular the first two were. Thats a big mistake in my opinion, they should just be throwing money at the developers of the first two.

Lol, I could see your point if that's all there was, but dialogue trees, stat customization and use of other powers play a major part in gameplay as well. Besides, it's an RPG set in the future, what weapons did you expect them to use? Swords and staves?

KOTOR and KOTOR2 were made by two different devs. Bioware, the maker of the original, is the dev behind Mass Effect.

The problem with KOTOR 2 is that Lucasarts forced Obsidian (the developer) to rush the game to make the holiday season, apparently in the game code their's all kinds of stuff for a couple of extra planets.

I didn't know that. I'm not big into following developers and what not. I would say a large part of the appeal of those games is that they are star wars related though.

I honestly didn't even get that far into the game. KOTOR2 just failed to draw me in like the first. It was all too apparent to me that Bioware wasn't behind the helm on it.

The ending, the light side one anyways, sucked so bad. There were so many unresolved plot holes and unanswered questions, it wasn't even funny. KOTOR 2 will be vastly inferior to its predecessor in my eyes.

Microsoft doesn't make royalties from games made for the PC.

But they do initially get paid to have the game run on windows

uh....what?? I've never heard of Microsoft being paid to have games run on windows....Microsoft pays to have the Games for Windows logo upon the cases, but they don't get royalties:?
