grasping for straws? if 90% of the dev team is using a gtx 670 at ultra settings as the guy on twitter said. Then clearly they are all playing with 10 frames per second because that is ideal.

but 780ti is ultra high end... or are we considering $700+ gpu's as high end now? 670 maxes out everything but 'maybe' crysis 3. Graphics did not improve much since the 500 series so unless you want to game at over 1080p a 670 (not even overclocked) should be considered pretty damn high end.

It all depends on your resolution.. On the nvidia side I would say 770 is high end for 1080p. 780 is high end for 1440p, 780Ti is ultra high end... But "Maxes out" is relative because there are way more settings than just the texture quality.. AA and resolution are incredibly taxing on a GPU and to get high frame rate on these settings you need a really high end GPU.. High end PC gaming isn't just max settings. It's max resolution and max performance. At 1080p a mid range GPU is still gonna beat this gen of consoles, but it's not high end to PC anymore when a 120hz 1440p IPS monitor is $300.. That's the high end benchmark right now and 4k is still for ultra enthusiasts. But you need a lot of juice for 1440p

And for what it's worth the 780's retail is $550 but I see it on sale for around $450 almost weekly.. Buying full price PC components is a huge mistake

Yeah, that's not how video cards are ranked. It has nothing to do with resolution. It's purely down to cost and at $250 puts it in the enthusiast class, not mid-tier.

An EVGA GTX 760 2GB Superclocked Edition goes for $255 on Amazon. It also comes with a free copy of Watch Dogs.

The GTX 760 performs close to the GTX 670, the overclocked EVGA card would likely match it.

Essentially, the card is costing you $195, assuming you also planned on buying Watch Dogs at the $60 retail price.

Fair enough. PS4 is not a 7 year old box though. Not happy with the Watch Dogs situation on PS4, but I won't consider another gaming PC until sub-1080p becomes the norm. I don't think that will happen for a few years.

Also I have a PC built 7 years ago for 650USD that was not upgraded at all and it still performs much better than the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I also ended up spending less on my computer hardware over the last gen console era than my friend did on his Xbox 360 ( which is not even adding in the multiple times he had to replace his for the red ring).

Sure if you want to play all the newest games at 1080p and max settings then you have to upgrade but to get better visuals and performance than consoles you wouldn't need to do that.

What makes it worse is current console hardware is a lot worse off than the 360 was at release.

There are people with 4 year old PCs that perform better than the PS4 and Xbox One and something like that was not possible back when the Xbox 360 or PS3 were new.

Even if it runs like shit (like AC4) it'll still run much better and look better (with extras like TXAA as you said) on a (Nvidia) PC.

yes it will look better, but if its a similar situation to black flag as i suspect it will be, it will be extremely minor improvements except for txaa(altho it depends how prone the game is to aliasing). black flag had tons of shimmer so txaa made a substantial difference.

All systems have AAA-AA games that don't come to them. Hows Titanfall on your PS4? How is Wolfenstien on your WiiU? Hows Planetside2 on Xboner? All of these games are on PC.

This happens least to PC, which is why it ends up with the most high scoring games every gen and most developers. (Proof listed below). Nice spin though. You should work for FOX NEWS.

The numbers game goes in favor of PC obviously because unlike consoles everyone can release every rubbish there, but in reality the blockbuster games you really want to play are missing on PC most of the time.

I hope I don't have to explain that when an indie game with several thousand bucks budget gets 8/10, its not the same as when a blockbuster with several million bucks budget gets 8/10. You can't seriously compare Botanicula to The Last of Us and say that both PC and PS3 have one AAA exclusive, so their libraries are equal. :)

I'm pretty sure PC medium settings are what the PS4 and Xbone will be running (at 900p and 792p respectively)

But of course, when games start to look better and better the difference between medium and ultra will be harder to spot.

WD uses a old engine so Ubi could whore it out to every damn last gen console and increase sales. It is no surprise that a Wal-Mart rig can max it.

All of the console players complaining about PC parts. Some of you typed your replies on a desktop PC. A single 250 dollar part which is cheaper than your consoles gets you playing this on the PC on high/ultra. I'll be using a 360 controller and a HDMI cable to get this game on my TV screen. How is that different than buying it on the PS4?

Some of us have expensive PCs. Clearly we don't have problems buying a cheap console or 2 if that allows us to play a game we want.

You mean that 1 or 2 games we may want to play. The console libraries are so tiny and most of their games are better on pc.
