Retaliator (multi-crew bomber) re-design video, it's not even finished yet!

They just launched a new ship, the Reclaimer. A dedicated salvaging ship, again Multi-crew. This thing is rather big and can carry the equivalent of a Constellation in salvage. It's a bit rich for my blood though, coming in at 280 Euros but seems to be pretty popular among the big spenders.

And to top it off, while looking through the ask a developer forum I found this little tit-bit

Recently it was revealed that the next tomb raider game would be using a facial motion capture tech that has over 7000 points of reference. Pretty neat. Would it be easy to upgrade to such a tech? and would it be worth doing? Thanks for your thoughts.
http://www.gamespot....e/1100-6421618/

Hi Mak-Wu, that tech does indeed look pretty neat. The tech we're integrating in to our pipeline is based on pores on the human faced so I guess you could say that's based on approximately 20,000 points of reference! For Star Citizen and Squadron 42, we're aiming to deliver the highest quality with what is technically possible across the board.

Yup they're aiming to have around 20,000 points of reference for facial motion capture, it doesn't get much more accurate than that with todays technology.

The also passed $54,000,000 in funding a few days ago.

It's getting hard to keep up these days

So, what kind of DLC is this? The be part of the development DLC? Will people that get this game when it's finished be able to use this ship?

This is a genuine question, for those ready to jump on me for whatever reason. Putting ship after ship, and charging quite a bit of money for it. What's that about?

I'm more pumped for SPAZ2 then this game. I trust Star citizen will be great but they really need to dig deep and get this game finished. I believe they could be getting to a point where the nuggets of extra's is beginning to turn people away. I trust the game will be great. They need to go do what everyone is waiting for.

I believe you can get every ship in the game with in game credits but you can buy them now with real money so you can have them on release day.

Ah okay. So this is definitely for those heavily invested in this game.

Cool beans. Like hell, I'm spending almost 300 for a ship I can get when the product actually releases, but then again, I'm not big in SC.

@freedomfreak: It's not DLC, all the ships being built (and sold) will be in the full game at launch, more than that they will all be available to buy with in game money, earned by playing the game in what ever manner you want to play it. There is no need for anyone to buy anything with real money apart from the game itself when it launches.

At the moment we have the alpha test phase for single seat ships and there are still plenty of them to be implemented. The multi-crew ships will hopefully be in before the end of the year. Multi-crew ships go from 2 (Freelancer) - 10 (Idris Frigate) crew members. With an Idris think something along the lines of the bridge crew on Voyager, only the crew are your clan mates, not npc's (you can have npc's if you want)

The next reveal is at PAX Australia, where they're planning on showing off the FPS side.

Alright. I'd rather not spend actual money on this then, seeing as how pricey it is. Well, at least it's an option for those interested.

I'm interested in the FPS part.

It's also likely that you'll be able to purchase ships with in-game currency prior to the full release of the game, it's just not an option right now.

@freedomfreak: I'm not big into crowd funding myself, this is the only project I've ever backed. Though I have spent more than I'd ever intended.

I'm hoping the FPS will be good, the idea of boarding an enemy capital ship in the middle of a raging space battle, with fighters, bombers, assault ships etc. gives me goose bumps. It's something I've wanted a game to do for a long, long time :)

@freedomfreak: No worries. I'm playing it currently with the three ships that I purchased (an Origin 300i, an Aurora and a Hornet). I had already spent $150 on early access for Elite Dangerous so I made a rule that I would spend no more than an equivilent amount on Star Citizen no matter how cool the new ships coming out look.

This is one area where Elite Dangerous is currently better than SC because you -can- purchase ships with in-game currency in that game. I've owned four different ships in Elite so far and it's a blast, but in the end I think both games will be awesome. ED is just a bit further along in the development cycle right now.

Yup , mind = Blown . As I mentioned before that they plan to have better facial animations than Ryse : Son of Rome . Star Citizen + Squadron 42 , Total War : ATTILA , Unreal Tournament , Elite Dangerous , Unwritten Tales 2 , Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3 etc . Exciting times ahead .

not just the head bro, it was a fully rendered scene with environment and everything. This is just a ship that doesn't even look that impressive probably due to the heavy compression of youtube.

You do realize that it was a grey boxing report video right .? Grey Boxing is the second phase of design , with no textures , lighting etc and is only done for the prototyping . Yet it looked impressive .

Loading Video...

This is how the game looks right now. Every video is better than the last one because assets are being updated. Early next year , (once we are close to release of Squadron 42's first episode for backers) this game is going to look beast.

Star Citizen's development began in late 2012. It'll complete its two years of development (including pre production phase) on October 10. Two years are nothing for a game like this, yet its campaign is set to launch Q1-Q2 2015.

Oh my god.. The amount of time and effort it must of took to remodel and redesign something like that... And all just because of user feedback. What an admirable project.

Exactly like the M50 advert, without the Jeremy Clarkson guy. All the adverts to date have used the in game engine to make them. They get getter and better looking as the development progresses because the game itself is constantly improving with every patch.

The Retaliator video above isn't an advert, it a w.i.p. preview, we won't be seeing that ship completed for a good couple of months yet

Huh, there's tons of footage the hanger module, dogfighting module and even the racing module.

@freedomfreak: the funny part is you could steal that ship off someone who paid 300 quid, I'm not saying you could do it day one and easily but the game mechanics are there.

That's what insurance is for, you could take that 300Euro ship out of the hangar and get blown to smithereens within minutes, if you go out with out at least hull insurance you're asking to lose your ships.

Star Citizen is unashamedly and squarely aimed at enthusiast PC gamers who aren't bothered about forking out for a high end rig. Believe it or not this is actually a feature that is selling the game. If you want to run it maxed out with 4k resolution you'll likely need at least 2 GTX 980's (possibly even 3) to get good frame rates, of course come the final release (likely early 2016) the cost of 2xGTX 980's won't be that restrictive, as they'll have been superceded at least once.

Due to insurance , you get your ship back on nearby planet but lose upgrades . As far as I know . The other guy who stole your ship may not have his own ship as cool looking as yours but he may be good at boarding other ships or his ship may be faster than yours etc . There are pros and cons of each and every ship . There is no "you win" ship in Star Citizen , and that's the best thing about this game . Everything is related to your own skills .

We'll see about this game. Sounds like they might be biting off more than they can chew and Elite might be the better bet.

Everything they talk about sounds impressive but none of the pictures seem to back it up. I guess they gotta long while to go.
