I thought Kickstarter was paying for an awesome promise of a great PC game and then getting the shaft.

@lostrib: I was reading a report from a guy on the RSI forums, turns out I wasn't reading it correctly. He's playing at a massive 5760x1600 and he's getting 30-40FPS on a single 980.

What exactly is that? B/c it seems there are conflicting stories here. I have a feeling the "arena module" isn't the whole game and therefore you're just being overzealous.

Arena commander module is the current Dogfighting/Flight Simulation portion of Star Citizen available to people who support the project. And while final requirements may change when the game is finished, current information indicates that a 970 should be able to run the game on high to max settings (assuming we're talking 1080p)

Kickstarter is the worst thing on the internet. Seriously, it mostly consists of self-absorbed hipsters with rich parents. Almost all of the projects make me cringe hard. Most of the actual progressive and good ideas get lost in the cesspool of willamsburg excrement. /venting

you should not. its ultra hardcore PC game that me and my mentor SNIPER will enjoy. we left earth and situated on mars.

I don't think Sniper has enough intelligence to play a game like Star Citizen.

SNIPER is probably most hardcore gamer in this site. as he is playing games since games since 90s and most of his fav games are ultra hardcore games like STALKER.

so yes Star citizen is GOTY contender along with DOom 4 and witcher 3. both doom guy and geralt of rivia are badass.

This is how I currently imagine effect_tor feels right now:

Nobody knows the answer, the game is nowhere near complete. The Arena commander module:

1) doesn't have all graphical bells and whistles (Hell don't even have proper AA support) and will likely be upped over the next year.

2) The scale of Arena commander is tiny compared to what we are supposedly going to see.... so both CPU and GPU will need to be up to date closer to the time.

3) FPS module ... in Cry-Engine.... could be intense enough on its own, and the planetside module.... could be much more demanding than the hanger module.

I would not get a GTX 970 now just for star citizen... and risk only playing at 20-30 fps with the final product.... if you don't need to upgrade for any other game... just wait for more powerful cards imo.... no reason to now...

...... yet another ambitionless TPS practically corridor game that's probably less than 10 hours long and focuses purely on cinematic experiences. colour me not suprised... it seems to be 90% of the exclusives....

Its bloody infamous all over again.... some nice effects but overall a mediocre experience.... that washed out colour pallette.... oh I could nitpick for hours....
