OMFG.... this game looks brilliant when it gets going.
Whoever they had doing that run must have been an absolute bad*** at the game because holy crap.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
That's what I've been hoping to see here. I love the idea of this game (maybe not how the character looks to be honest, but I doubt you'll really see it that much :P ) and I just love how it looks, and I think it will be a very unique and interesting game. I'm hoping it does well, because this game, is something I really want to see do well because I think it will be great. XD
If anything, I just love the feel to it, I'm hoping the control scheme is pretty intuitive so that it won't have you fumbling around because you didn't press a right sequence of buttons or something, and pretty much I love how you can do so much. The wall jumping, the sidling, and all that looked pretty cool in first-person view.
This game just looks amazing, but I have no doubt it'll make me sicker than a dog.BioShockOwnzI'm hoping I don't get motion sickness as well from this... :| I mean, I understand it's all FP view, but having every detail like that in the first person view from rolling, to the camera wobbling when running, and so forth, I'm hoping I have the stomach and head for this... (I've been dizzy by Half-Life 2 before... >_> )
the game seems so easy with the red hihglights basically holding your hand the whole way.
I mean, i want it to be great but what it basically boils down to is being a glorified rail shooter, without the guns :(
JPOBS
i hope theres more too it than that.
Looks hot! It'd be cool if they incorporate the Sixaxis for when you need to balance, though. :P
Hopefully EA will have a deal with steam before this game gets released so I don't have to waste gas buying it. :D
TenP
sixaxis is used for balance...

You are correct.
Also, JPOBS, the game requires very good timing to actually play.
Go watch the Stage Demo's from E3.
The developer fell like 10 times in a row playing it and the game didn't look nearly like that video.
The game doesn't hold your hand.
You actually have to DO all that stuff. It isn't Assassin's Creed in First Person where the game does it all for you. No, to hold onto things you hold a button. To swing you move the analog stick. You press a button to jump but you only go as far as your momentum takes you, and it requires good time. It isn't an easy game.
There is an option to turn it off I believe, but there's also more routes that are not signified by the red highlight. These will likely result in faster shortcuts, better speed times (I believe there will be a challenge mode in the game) and so forth.the game seems so easy with the red hihglights basically holding your hand the whole way.

It's merely a guide to any player, when running at high speeds, you may not have the time to really look around, and this could be helpful, yet you don't need to follow the red exactly.
The game looks great, but perhaps a bit too linear.EVOLV3'
That's my concern as well. I'll hold of on this game till I know more about it.

Ubisoft already showed the gameplay at E3 where they showed the game wasnt linear, you can choose your own path

Haha, I'm the same way. No other FPS has ever made me sick, except for HL2. I'm fine with it now, but for a while, I couldn't play it without feeling a little bit odd in the stomach and head. Seeing Faith running and swinging off pipes doesn't give me much hope in being able to play this without a trash can by me at all times. :( :P
Im not saying it will be technically easy to perform, but rather, it seems linear and by "hold your hand" i mean, the red lights show you where to go all the time so you're never stuck. as long as you follow the red with decent technical skill, you're fine. Which is what i meant by the game being "on rails".You are correct.

Its too late to change now but if this was a more open ended game, it would be one thousands times better imo.

They have already shown that every level will have 4-5 different possible paths. The red just shows the easiest path and that CAN be turned off if you want to turn it off.
[QUOTE="chikenfriedrice"]that game will make me lose my lunch...I hate the shaky wobbly camera
clone01
i was thinking the same thing.
I'm confused here. Do you people suffer on car rides, ships, and action movies due to motion sickness? That blows =/.
I've never even though of getting motion sickness.

meh, that still isnt what i mean.4-5 different paths still results in you following a linear path. If they just gave you a goal and let you break free to discover the way for yourself that owuld be much better. maybe its a lot better in ractice than it sounds in theory. i hope it is anyway.

id rather this game be linear than free roaming to be honest 0_o
Too linear. I mean, she obviously gets through the level only if those red highlighted objects are around.
Le Parkour should be free-form, like Assasin's Creed.

there is no way they could possibly design a game with that in mind... You have any idea at all?
These runs they are doing take several months each to fine tune to get into a playable and fun state.
Just making a game world and making it so that a fun run is possible ANYWHERE.... well that is damn near impossible. The only reason Assassin's Creed worked was because they had tile sets and the controls largely played themselves. In a game where player actions are directly related on the controller it would take hundreds of millions of hours to playtest a free-roaming parkour game... The last thing they want is someone seeing a jump and then spending 3 hours trying to make it only to learn that it was never really possible.
You need to realize there is more to game design than just making a level to run through... They spend hours fine tuning the distances of the jumps and making things that aren't possible look impossible.
The design of a game like this only works when you do it this way.
Don't get unrealistic dreams about what is possible in games because certain things will not be possible. And that is one of them. Actually, it probably could be done, it just wouldn't be a very good game because there is too much to account for.

Totally agree, I'd rather play through a linear path that the developers worked on so that I get the intense experience the game advertises.
Assassin's Creed wasn't even that fun as a free-roamer, it was just "well you can jump from this building, or that one.." or "before you go kill this dude, feel free to find some flags around the city".
Thrilling...

theres nothing wrong with wanting more from games. thats how gaming evolves, changes, and gets better.Note: to Insomniac and Konami- When demoing a game, please have someone who actually can play the game really well to show it off.
Whever was playing that made it look easy. Rest assured, we won't be that lucky.
