i expected about an 8. personally, i wasn't really excited for it. but remember, everyone, a 7 still means good, and if it intrigues you, you should at least check it out.
Hmm... interesting. It's not a bad game by the score's ...score, but... I will have to read the review and see what they say. I still want this game though... I loved the demo and I have loved the idea behind this game. :D
Looks like Cliffy B wasn't the only person that just 'didn't get' Mirror's Edge. Floptacular. Strangely the rampant 'screen tearing' present in the demo wasn't an issue in the review, but it seemed to be the only issue people had with it pre-review.

no you stop. Ihave played the demo thousands of times, read every review that's out and read forums. IGN and gamespot have underrated this game. i have a feeling they, just as cliffyb, dont understand it. it's about running more then gunning, but they took of one whole point for that. the game is a solid 8.

You're complaining about one point deviation of what you'd expect the game to score? :| Really now. Who's to say Kevin's 7 doesn't equal a 9 in your book? Come on, it's all personal preference. Someone who enjoys the game just as mush as you do can still give it a lower, or higher, score. There is'nt some kind of mathematical law that converts the amount of fun to be had into a numerical value, and does it so equally every time for everyone.

Honestly, while I was somewhat excited about the game (minus the looks of Faith), I feel that this is just right score for it. I'm still going to get it, though.

It didn't even meet AA score standards. Some (like me) were hyping for.
It's a flop score wise. Yeah, boo hoo. That word doesn't even affect me though, a game can be a flop on a sight for all I care, but it doesn't reflect anything about how I will enjoy the game.
Still, I want this game! :cry: I will indeed buy it. From the sounds of the review, he just had a hard time with it, it seems. I could understand trial and error being frustrating, but it doesn't seem the game design is really to blame either if you asked me. It's just a different experience altogether. I can't wait for this game personally, I just wanna run fast and feel good. :D I have a few quirks to point ou about the review, but I don't care enough to do so, because it's their opinion. I'll formulate my own when I buy the game. :D

Because 7 is considered mediocre, in the games world, anything below 6 isnt worth playing, or just downright bad.
Also plenty of competition from other AA/AAA games this holiday. The game shouldve got AA though, Kevin was too harsh
FLIZZZOPP!!! I ran through the demo about 6 or 7 times and it just didn't stick with me, plus IMO the combat sucked burro *****, but it will be a great buy once it reaches 34.99.
Yep, the disappointment continues it seems. Like many others, I was extremely hyped for this one after playing the demo. However, as soon as I heard that it was only a 6-7 hour game with a weak story, it was a deal breaker for me.
The gameplay and ideas at work here are indeed very innovative and catchy. As a stand alone game for 60.00 though, it just does not seem worth it. Now, if it came as part of a package deal, sort of like Portal in the Orange Box, then I would be all over it like white on rice. I bet it would have gotten a much better reception as well.
I didn't bash Cliffy for that, but what has to do his comments with the score...

Gamespot noted its combat and gunplay for apparently being "weak". I know that the game deliberately forces you to melee, disarms, throws and whatnots, and Gamespot must be perfectly aware of it, and they must have seen through it, and demerited the game for a reason. And I can perfectly understand trial and error gameplay since when you turn off help in the game, the key elements and waypoints are no longer highlighted red.
As many I was expecting an 8. But still, the review is kind of short, and It seems to praise the story. If the game got a good story, I don't mind if it is a 7 hour game. Like Heavenly Sword, this could be a good game for me. Maybe I'll wait for a more reviews.
It dosn't matter, the game is original which is more important than quality now a days. besides, they were put down by the difficulty which in my eyes is a good thing, should give it more length.
We all know what happened here. Kevin was too busy playing the L4D demo to care about writing a descent review of good length, so he just slapped some quotes from earlier reviews together and called it a day. Seven is a good score guys, will buy as soon as it hits the budget bin.
