[QUOTE="007Assassin"]

[QUOTE="GoldenGlove"]Haze >>> Wii's 07 lineup yes including MP3GoldenGlove

Keep dreaming

4 Player Co-op on and offline, amazing graphics. Two things that CAN'T be brought to you on Wii.

As the old Xbox commercials would say... "It's good to play together". Have fun on WiiFit though.

rofl at the boldfaced lies.

God forbid a game actually takes on some more difficult subject matter. :roll:

I actually can't wait for this game to come out. The story should be interesting.

He doesn't like it even though it shows the negative effects of using the drug, and the rebel side uses this to it's advantage. I don't really see any problem with that. Does he actually understand what necter is used for in th game and what it does to you?

For gods sake Miyamoto its a mature sci-fi action game, bog off. I don't reccomend that he's watches anything like Riddick or Resident Evil . I mean doesn't the main character fight against the corporation with their use of Nectar? Its anti-drugs if anything.

I think he just holds a grudge against the old guys from Rare, he got jealous of DK Country and talked it down once.

tomarlyn

He does? He was jealous? Never would have thought of that, considering the series was pretty awesome.

Yeah...Miyamoto was quoted as saying something to the effect of "gamers these days are more impressed by visuals than gameplay" when talking about Donkey Kong Country vs. Super Mario World 2.

He cried after Nintendo told him to take a leaf out of Rare's book. DK Country is my favourite platformer ever and I still play it.

Huh. Well some people here today base a game off of graphical presentation I guess. Both looked great, I don't see what the problem was back then. Whatever, both games were awesome.

Well, didn't Shigeru invent Donkey Kong? Maybe he just legitimately thought Donkey Kong Country sucked, even though few others do. But if anyone has a right to that opinion, it's him.

Seriously. Every time a game even gets close to making some sort of actually commentary on real-world happenings, everybody gets up in arms about it. Little Timmy can't handle being faced with situations involving ambiguous morality, or the idea that there are terrorists and drugs out in the real world. These things come up all the time in movies and its okay, but for some reason if a game is set in Venezuela and features crime its some sort of catastrophe.

If the games industry is ever going to be taken seriously, then designers can't be afraid to take on more complex and mature subject matter.

They were both good games, the problem was DKC sold a whole lot more than SMW 2 did. That's why Miyamoto was upset in the first place.

He invented DK, but had nothing to do with DKC. Anyway here's the quote:

Shigeru Miyamoto once criticized Donkey Kong Country, stating that "Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good."

People should add children civilians in shooters, or in something like GRAW, to make the world more real at least.

Why is it so wrong to feel that displaying drug use in a potentially beneficial light is wrong or disappointing or just not a direction you want to go in? Not every game needs to be ultra hardcore and gritty to make a compelling game. I'm far from a prude, and if you enjoy you're games, movies, music etc... to have those elements that's fine for you. I'll be enjoying something a little lighter. Personally I'm glad that there are still developers and publishers that still cater to the more E-E10+ tastes.

ZOMG, Miyamoto hates it! Teh end of teh Haze!!!

I guess the real fanboys are the ones who get bent all out of shape over a few comments that won't affect a damn thing back in a little thing we call "reality". Miyamoto can say whatever he damn well pleases about any game he damn well pleases because he's earned the right to do so.

I mean if you can't handle one man's opinion, then maybe you shouldn't be entitled to your own.

The problem isn't one man's opinion. The problem is that this opinion represents the current philosphy held by Nintendo towards their games. He's the lead visionary for the biggest gaming software maker in the world, and what he says is very telling about their direction in video games. They want to be Disney, and they're pulling it off.

But here's the thing, is being a Disney-type company really THAT bad? Leave the real world games to Microsoft and Sony, because violence are mostly presentin their games. That sells their systems. Nintendo makes the fantasy stuff and the casual stuff. I'm all for both types if you ask me.

I'm not trying to say that having a Disney in the gaming world is a bad thing, as much as it might sound like I'm saying that. I mean it works for movies, I don't see why it can't work for games. I just don't want every development studio in the world following Nintendo's lead, that's all. :D

This is very true. This is the first and only real thing someone should bring up who is trying to argue that Nintendo is hurting gaming - they trivialize it. If video games don't attain the respect that movies do yet, both in entertainment value and in critical aspects like drama and story, then it's because influential spokesmen in the industry like Shigeru Miyamoto don't offer it that level of respect themselves.

Actually, everyone's driving motivator is money. EVERYONE. If casual gaming is what rakes in the cash cow (hehehe lame pun), then thats where they will go. Business men won't stick with a sinking ship just for public opinion.

WHAT ABOUT MARIO

he eats mad shrooms to get "Big"

Ontain

mario doesn't remotely try to be realistic ;)

Covert drug references are MUCH better than overt drug references that actually have satirical qualities. Totally.

[QUOTE="GoldenGlove"]Haze >>> Wii's 07 lineup yes including MP3GoldenGlove

Keep dreaming

4 Player Co-op on and offline, amazing graphics. Two things that CAN'T be brought to you on Wii.

As the old Xbox commercials would say... "It's good to play together". Have fun on WiiFit though.

Because the gameplay doesn't matter at all does it? Just online and good graphics

Who cares? He's the man who is single handly killing gaming as we speak with the wiimote and those casual games. All he ever does is spew out kid casual rehash trash over and over again. Honestly, his openion holds no wait in the gaming community anymore. He's nothing but a joke. Haze looks like a great game, better than pretty much all of Wiis line-up. I bet he's just jelous. -Rail_Man-

The ignorance is this post is baffling :|

[QUOTE="marioraider"]Of course, we need our bloody dark-side games too! Trust me, Sony and Microsoft know what their audience like, and they aren't going to switch gears just because Nintendo is making more cash. Vandalvideo
Actually, everyone's driving motivator is money. EVERYONE. If casual gaming is what rakes in the cash cow (hehehe lame pun), then thats where they will go. Business men won't stick with a sinking ship just for public opinion.

I guess, and that seems to be the sad truth. But still, violent gory games won't go away, they play a big part in sales as well. Casual gamers play stuff like Halo and Gears Of War too. Although I may have my "casual" terms mixed up.

If Nintendo wins, video games will never be seen as art.

Really?....I see games like metroid prime and Zelda to be art.

I suppose every game need to be gory, gritty and realistic in order to be considered art :roll:

haze looks cool, and nectar makes it look even sweeter.
