Miyamoto is an extremely intelligent man.
I applaud him for stepping down to work on smaller titles within Nintendo.
Of course, I will always follow his work.
But let's embrace the new masterminds behind Mario (like Yoshiaki Kozumi) and Zelda (like Eiji Aonuma) and see where they will take us in the future.
That's a good thing. As he said, he's not retiring from games he's just stepping down to a role that fits him better. If this means he gets the chance to create some smaller unique titles then alright.
Not bad news, this is great news. It means Miyamoto's ready to make more great (albeit smaller) games for Nintendo.
Thus the end of a Golden Era. I can't believe this GS...you had to do what you did to Skyward Sword, Miyamoto's LAST big game and give it a 7.5? I don't think I can ever get over it because that review is a POS in journalism history and honestly, I don't care what the System Warrior's say. Yeah, you shouldn't give a game a 10 or a 9 just cause that's the last game the man or company will make but at least make it a GOOD review. :(
Oh well, water under the water temple. Goodbye Miyamoto, may your games live long and prosper in the ever growing arms of time and may they grow well. :)
[QUOTE="Eponique"]*is having a meltdown* No more Miyamoto Mario games :( Super Mario 3D Land was so awesome :cry:BrunoBRSmiyamoto hasn't been the head designer on mario games for years now. that includes both galaxy games and 3D land.
Yes, and although Miyamoto worked very hard on titles like Skyward Sword...Hidemaro Fujibayashi was still the game director.
When it came down to it...there were people who had more authority than him when it came to game development and decision making.
Miyamoto just wants to be a game director again. And that isn't a bad thing at all.

Miyamoto isn't going away...he's just going to work on smaller titles where he is the game director and is making all of the decisions, not some other guy.
Had me scared for a moment there. This sounds like excellent news. I'd love to see a game that Miyamoto has complete control over.
[QUOTE="Chrome-"]Who's that... what game did he make?MonsieurXhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shigeru_Miyamoto The genius behind most Nintendo titles Your sarcasm detector is malfunctioning broski.
Mario and Zelda being ruined by "modernization" by those youngsters confirmed.
Hopefully this means some more awesome games for 3DS.
Japanese devs are overrated. Especially this broham.LightLink66I think Western developers are over-rated and some of them are the most arrogant in the industry.

Yep. Eiji Aonuma is the man who brought us Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess.
Hidemaro Fujibayashi brought us The Minish Cap, Skyward Sword, and Oracle of Ages/Seasons.
Miyamoto hasn't directed a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.

He will one day, and this could be the step in that direction. Even so, what will become of his games? Will we even hear from him ever again? WHAT WILL WE DO WITHOUT HIM!
...saying this without being overdramatic, I still feel like this is the ending of an era even if he is still working on games. Now he's going into the shadows to work on games, perhaps he could bring light to indy games but...who knows. :?

seeing as the "youngsters" are the guys behind most of my top 5 zelda games (skyward sword may or may not be in it, but it's really doing its homework), i won't complain. From what I'm reading, he's stepping down à la Sakaguchi, but will still make games and still for Nintendo, which is great as he wasn't really doing much besides supervising and producing.:P This is good news and maybe we will get more core/traditional styled games instead of another Wii Music or a game à la Angry Birds on the 3DS.:P

I know that :P The Galaxy team is mostly new grads and rookies.
[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"]Gaming needed this, the old fart was losing his touch.BrunoBRS...ouch. seriously, even if it is a joke (and it better be)... ouch. Of course, just wanted to see the reaction of the hardcore fans. :P
miyamoto = awesome.
my prediction is he will make a few mobile games that will be really well recieved and make him a fortune.
If the quality of his games wasn't enough to prove it, then this will; Miyamoto has an intense passion for the art of game development, not the money that it generates. This old man could very well have retired years ago and lived in a fat mansion on a private island with hookers and blow. But he didn't. He stayed the course, making amazing game after amazing game. His last big-budget title turned out to be the greatest Zelda game ever made.
But he's not done yet. 59 years old, and he's going back to smaller projects? I'm gonna say it again: this guy loves making games. I'm really sad to hear that he won't be involved with creating the big guns anymore, but at the same time I'm excited to see what this new position of his will bring. He has real undying passion for creating games, so I'm sure that he'll make a few gems.
That's for the better I think. The big franchises are fine, let him get out there on the field again to work on ideas and mentor young talent.

well their curriculum has DK jungle beat and the galaxy games. they're more than fit to go on by themselves if you ask me :PThe director / producer of Galaxy / Galaxy 2+3D Land Koizumi sounds like a mastermind. They mentioned in some Iwata's I read that he's the guy who came up with the story behind Link's Awakening, lol that's so arbitrary.
Mario is safe.
