Damn. well there goes the idea Nintendo wont rehash Mario platformers atleast.
Look just do some other games.
SUper Mario Galaxy was down right amazing. it was a GOTY winner and a damn good game.
But honestly its gonna be hard to top that without feeling like a rehash. Why doesnt he make a 3D DK platformer. So its a DK equivelant of Mario Galaxy.
A sequal. Why doesn't he make a completely different game all together. And while he is at he, why not put Mario aside for a second. No offense to Mario or anything, but some variety would be great. I am glad that he has been able to stand the test of time and everything, but I think the old boy needs some rest. Maybe a new game with a different character. Maybe something orginal.
I just think it will be sad if the best games on the wii all have mario in them. I know I am being a little harsh. The wii has other original good games. I mean, look at Zelda and Metriod.......
I am just kidding, but I do wish a new and original game would come out. Perferable one that does have Mario, Link, or Samus.
Hasn't Mario earned his retirement yet? I mean honestly, why don't they you know... make a Mario game without Mario, set in another fictional universe without any "mario" characters like.. you know a new game already?
It'll probably just be a "more of the same" package,with some tweaks to the formula here and there.In this case,however,that really isn't a negative thing.There's also the possibility the Galaxy 2 may change up the formula dramatically,and become something new.
I'm not ready for more Mario platforming just yet. 3-d platformers just aren't my cup of tea, even though SMG was a great one. Let's have a brand new idea Shiggy! You can do it.
Because we are not talking about SMG 2. We are talking about Mario (how ever many games he has been in now.) One, I am a XBOX 360 owner. But, that doesn't mean I don't want to see new ideas coming out in the gaming community. Miyamoto has the ability to create something different that could be just as good (if not better by now) than Mario. It doesn't compare to Gears of War because that is only the second game in that universe. Mario has done everthing.... I don't know how to finish that.

With that said, wanting and doing are two different things. Something tells me this won't be coming for a while... Ninty's been less on pushing Mario platformers out and loves to put Mario spin-offs on shelves instead.

Why not take the Galaxy team and make a DK platformer. Or Pikmin. OR a brand new platformer.

Even if they made a sequel, Review sites would go "same old" and "Doesn't create anything new for the genre" if it did the same thing galaxy did... It won't be GOTY second time around, It would most likely get a low AAA score(9,0) but it would not reach goty status.

But for real, seeing how critically acclaimed galaxy was, I think a sequel will be just fine if they add something new to the formula. It sounds like Nintendo has a new ace in the hole.

Those last three galaxies in mario galaxy seemed like the idea was being stretched enough. They were probably the dullest levels in the entire game.

I've actually yet to play the game, so I wouldn't know. I'm just basing my view off of reviews.
I don't know why so many people are tired of Mario. Miyamoto was for changing the experience rather than the characters, and I'm by his side on that decision.
I wouldn't want to see another Mario so soon. Oh, and to those of you saying that "Mario should be retired" or complaining about the storyline: Super Mario Galaxy is the second highest reviewed title of all-time. If Nintendo can continue to deliver Mario titles of that caliber, I'll be having too much fun to worry about the storyline.
I wont be buying it, got bored at 60 stars on Mario Galaxy.

Same, I really really wanted to love the game, but it was just blah at times, it didnt capture the magic of Super Mario 64.
It maybe an age thing, not in the immature sense ... but ... jumpinga round on cartooney animals doesnt amuse me like it once did, otehr cartoonish stuff like WoW and TF2 do though ...
I admit I was "Whoa'd" in some moments of Mario Galaxy .... but honestly.... rental job imo.
