Lens would finally have some decent games to play. Although being able to stream games on PS Now is not really a win, more a torture.

If Scorpio is a PC, we can conclude that Microsoft has indeed given up on the console market.

@Shewgenja: it's more like succeeding where Steambox failed. I'm not putting a big ass tower by my TV to play games via PC. I'm not dealing with architecture issues and the head ache of making sure a game runs. I'm not worrying about what my friends are playing the game on and how we are going to party chat.

Steambox was intriguing but failed miserably. Give me that one streamlined system that does exactly what I want it to do, and I'll give you my money.

@charizard1605: how far off are PS4 and Xbox Ones from PC anyways? If the rumor from way back is true and Spencer was talking to Steam/Valve I could see a Steam App possibility. It really depends just how far MS is gonna take this Win10 cross compatibility with Xbox universal apps thing. If you can get it on Xbox and it's there on Win10 and vice versa that's pretty significant.

I suppose I'd be a PC guy then, but I don't think the master race would approve

IMO a Steam app benefits MS to lure over the PC people that are just getting by placing games on PC. If the price point is right it will enable them to bring their entire Steam library to a updated/cheaper system than PC.

I haven't played a PC game since Unreal Tournement way back when it originally came out. Other than that it Myst or ZZT. I'd get those off of Steam I suppose if they are there ?

@Pray_to_me: most definitely! It's all about that software and backlot deals between Steam and MS. Still need the system depending the route cross play goes your still gonna need Live.

Other than picking something up something cheap on a Steam sale console gamers aren't gonna pick up a Steam game over the Xbox store anyway. Only thing a Steam app does is attempt to lure over a PC guy that can play all his Steam games on something most likely better than their PC, and cheaper. As well as enhances crossplay.

MS already has those.

All consoles are capable of being PCs.

I predict scorpio will be a lot more PC like.. but at the same time you will see games that were PC only make it's way onto the scorpio since it would not be hard to tune for the system.

That's pretty much MS end game here.. combine a PC/console hybrid through the windows store (which in turn they might be able to snag any PC only exclusives that SONY won't invest in.. giving them more games in the future)

Reasons I like console: I dont have to worry if my pc will run the game. On ps4 pro I simply have to choose 1080p 60fps (action mode) or 1440/1880p native upscaled to 4k 30fps.

Simplicity.

Another reason for many is multiplayer being better. If you hack a game online your account being banned means you loose all your games. In the end I play online for many years and Ive never seen any cheater online. As a console player I simply dont worry about those and never seen one.

So simplicity and better online.

People are setting themselves up for major disappointment with scorpio. The whole point of Play Anywhere is to compete with Steam and get all those software sales. Why would they add it to their dedicated game machine? PS Now? This just shows how much Xbox only players want to play Sony games (nothing wrong with that of course).

I think this goes back to his original point. A Personal Computer (PC) is a multipurpose machine that is intended to by used by an individual to perform a wide range of tasks. A console is a machine dedicated to entertainment and is designed to be used by more than one person at a time. They may use similar hardware, but they're not the same thing. When the PS3 was able to run a version of Linux, it was running it in a virtual state. The Console OS was running another OS on top of it. It then mimicked a PC. While it was doing so, you couldn't play PS3 games or anything PS3 related for that matter.

So taking this approach, defining a console as a PC and vice versa, you could say that a 3DS is a PC because it has a cpu or that my Core i7/GTX970 build is a console because consoles have GPU's.
