[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"][QUOTE="freedomfreak"] There are still factors that indicate quality, like the ones you listed.Saying a reviewer is just a man's opinion is wrong. When a game has a terrible framerate or bad screentearing,it's factual.freedomfreak
Thank you for proving my point. Since thats what I just said. There are some facts in a review but very little. Most of it though is opinion.
Very little isn't what I would call it.Reviews are in indication of quality. There are reason why we have reviews. Why we rate them from worse to best.QualityThe reason we have reviews is so publishers can bribe them and get you to buy dreadful games like killzone or Call of Duty. A reviewer is nothing more than a nerd with a keyboard. I wouldn't trust a single one of them outside of just a few I know and followed for a while. Until proven otherwise, they are all nothing more than corrupt nerds that rush through games on the easiest difficulty, google some flaws and write their review to get paid. Oh they also make sure they get a good enough bribe when they decide the score they want to make up for the game.
Rubbish.A game like street cleaning simulator has worse production values than Uncharted 3.It doesn't come down to opinion.True, but that's production values. Like budget. It can't really be argued. But if someone likes Street Cleaning Simulator more then, they are right. When it comes to liking something more, everyone is right :P. No one is wrong. I agree, but I am more inclined to buy a game that has great scores across the board rather than one that gets poor scores across the board.[QUOTE="freedomfreak"][QUOTE="The_Game21x"]
Those are quality judgments, which are inherently subjective and thus, opinion based.

Always makes me chuckle every time i remember about dear 'ol Morgan Ludgren (she's definitely related).
But for real now, some of the hate this franchise has attained is fully justifiable, you'd be needing to look at it from a blind eye to not aknowledge that. For example, i think you know in what state Black Ops was at launch for the PC, i know that someone even sued Activision because of that. Then there's the whole fiasco with MW2 being horribly unbalanced. Now we have MW3, which not only does it had a very low standard wen it comes to its visuals (using a horribly outdated engine in 2011), we also know that it wont support ranked dedicated servers. That's a low blow for PC gamers. And why milk it to kingdom come.
The *** don't they just put effort in makingthe definite Call of Duty with a brand new, beautiful engine, a ton of features, 40 - 50 well designed maps, and just add some significant DLC upon it once a year, aswell as holding a few special occasions such as a tournament once a year or something like that, with prizes, to keep it fresh and lovable. I would support that crap 'till i die.

You're listing isolated events. Not every reviewer f***s up like some do.Why not? We all know activision offers those all exclusive paid vacations for reviewers to enjoy before they review a Call of Duty game. Why would you think all of them dont attend it? What are they too rich to accept a free vacation? Most reviews are piss poor and aren't paid much at all. They love these events. Sure a reviewer can still flop a game even after that, but how many you think do? Its like spitting in a guys face after he helps you out.

[QUOTE="Blueresident87"][QUOTE="TREAL_Since"]A can of problems opens when you say that. If you categorize COD as overrated only because its popular, then bundle Halo, Mario, and Star Craft with it.
freedomfreak
No, no, no. Read my post, I never say anything about my opinion on MW and I never even mention it being overrated. I was merely saying that review scores, sales, and the size of the community do not make a game good or bad.
They indicate quality. But everyone has their opinion. They don't always equal qaulity, or production value, or whatever...Pokemon is one of the best selling franchises of all time and that game barely brings anything to the table.
What popularity does indicate, however, is that the game is certainly fun to play for a large number of people.

Stores can't keep up with demand =/= low sales numbers if 10 million have been shipped and they're still asking for more. EA would be the one to comment on the sales number, not DICE.
The game flopped here on Gamespot, we don't know about the rest. We all know Activision pays off reviewers and that's the only reason Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops wern't torn a new one in the reviews for being such bad games.
