PC specs for one of this years it games, MW3.

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/126784/modern-warfare-3-pc-details-minimum-specs

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
OS: Windows® XP / Windows Vista® / Windows® 7
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X38750 processor or better
Memory: 16 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB NVIDIA®GeForce™ 8600GT / ATI® Radeon™ X1950 or better
Sound Card: DirectX® 9.0C or later

This is what i dont get about PC gamers, you overkill on hardware, wasting tons of money, when you could spend less, or even buy an iMac or Macbook Pro, and install windows so you can play games, and whenever your not playing games, run OSX.
All these past PC games haven't been nothing to wow at either.

Surprisingly high specs considering it's a reskin of COD4 which I ran maxed with a pentium 4.

their code becomes a larger cluster**** with every release, they don't bother fixing it, they just make it run worse and say "you need moar powah"

But you could never even hope to play a game like this on an mere make book could you? ;) Besides, Stronghold 3 requires a much better video card than that (512 MB Nvidia 9800 series or better)

I could build a gaming computer that could max Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 for probably half the price of an iMac that couldn't even run them. (I say couldn't because Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are not supported for MacOSX)

Running Metro 2033/Battlefield 3/The Witcher 2/Cryostasis/Shogun 2/Just Cause 2/Stalker series/etc/etc requires reasonable hardware, so people may not be "wasting tons of money". Seriously, get over your own opinion.

It's a good laptop if you're not gaming. Reliable, well built, and very energy efficient. Gaming is a downside, but I never game on my laptop. Plus the touchpad is amazing. If you game or you are a programmer, get a windows laptop. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.

So you mean not only would I have a cheaper computer, but I would also have an operating system that would allow me to play the most recent games like Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Batman Arkham City? Windows computers are far cheaper than any Mac computer, no matter how you slice it you would spend far more for a Mac that has similar or even worse specifications.

The i7's are a better architecture than the Core 2 quads, even if its clocked low it will still run better. The quads in the MBP will run the game fine, maybe not maxed out, but good enough, seeing as how ill still have OSX for my DJ work.

Windows are cheaper because of microsofts monopoly. OpenGL has been proven to run better than directx look at games like RAGE and console games, they're accelerated by opengl. If a game was made for mac and coded for opengl 4, it will look better than directx.

You can claim that all you want, but I want proof, and I also want a price. What did you pay for that? Probably 1500 for the mac alone, then probably another 800 for the processor, when for a fraction of the price from newegg.com, people can pick one 3.-3.5 Quard core ghz processor for like $75-200 at the most if you really want a high end PC.

And how much did that cost you?

$2,199.00 - $2,499.00 (Shipping is free though)

Yeah. Like I thought. Overpriced, when for $800 a user on here got REALLY good computer parts and built a rig, shipping included I believe.

It was $2.5k. But its worth it, hell Windows even runs better on a mac, when i boot it up to run games, it runs smooth and fluid. Plus macs have a good resale value, i'll be able to sell it when the next MBP comes out for nearly what i paid for it, you cant do that with a custom built pc.
I could build a gaming computer that could max Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 for probably half the price of an iMac that could barely run either of them.

Method214

But you wont have OSX.[/QUOTE

So you mean not only would I have a cheaper computer, but I would also have an operating system that would allow me to play the most recent games like Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Batman Arkham City? Windows computers are far cheaper than any Mac computer, no matter how you slice it you would spend far more for a Mac that has similar or even worse specifications.

Windows are cheaper because of microsofts monopoly. OpenGL has been proven to run better than directx look at games like RAGE and console games, they're accelerated by opengl. If a game was made for mac and coded for opengl 4, it will look better than directx.

That would be nice and great in all but no one would specificly program a big budget title (the games that are going to whore out awesome graphics) because there would be such a small niche market of people who use Macs for gaming. Also how does your first statement make any sense...if having a monopoly meant lower prices would that be a good thing? Normally the complaint is that things become far more expensive when there is a monopoly because no competition exists...
But you wont have OSX.Method214

You can buy OEM copies of OSX if one wanted to do something so.....wrong.

Its illegal to run it on a non apple system.

Thats where you are wrong, The reason Apple cannot take down those OSX86 sites down is because Installing an iMac os on a not mac product is only against their ELUA.

Breaking ELUA only means apple can stop you from using your copy of OSX, thats all. But then again there are no product keys on apple OSs so there is no real way of enforcing this.

TL;DR its frowned upon by apple, but you can do it.

Only we simply upgrade the required parts without ever having to even imagine selling. Windows runs better on a Mac? How so? Macs don't have hardware any different to that on a PC. o.O

Shouldn't this be on the PC hardware forum?

Anyways, that seems surprisingly higher than expected. What gives?

So in actuality, it would be you spending around $3K for a Mac every few months?
