But....if you pre-order now, for a limited time, it's 10% off!!! Only $13.49!!!!

The new age of DRM comes to a PC near you.

In case you were wondering, yes, there was a very good, specific reason to be enraged over IWnet, and now we have a fabulous illustration of precisely why they decided on it in the first place.

But don't worry. At least someone will mod all these maps retroactively into COD4.

i dont think it will sell very well on steam, you can get a lot of good full games for this price on steam. perfect example is cod4, it is at the same price than the MW2 ripoff pack currently. for the same price, would you buy a good game or a crappy map pack for an average game ruined by armies of hackers ? they should release an anti cheat pack, it would be more usefull than a map pack.

To think, we used to get the map packs free in updates, along with mod tools to create our own. Good times...

It's their way of thanking your for buying their game. By gladly accepting more money for nearly forced content.

Just don't buy it.

This entire generation I have only bought DLC once and that was for Fallout 3 ( a couple of mods I wanted used them). I stick by my belief that DLC should be free.

Yeah, I believe that DLC should be free too. If the consumer stopped buying useless DLCs or all DLCs then developers would stop doing that.

I doubt it. Most people that I know who did, only did so to play the story. I believe CoD4 still has more people playing it.

Worst "deal" I've seen in a long-ass time...

Wish the new MoH would hurry up and release and make MW2 look like tripe alongside it AND BC2.

I'm not buying that. I just got "The Passing" for Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam for free which is probably better than that anyways. Still, I like MW2 and still play it from time to time. It's a great game.

funny that cod4 is half off on steam right now, so you can choose either a glitch map pack for a failure of a game with rehashes, or an entire superior game with some of those maps anyways for essentially the same price.

If people really don't like what Activision did with the game, they could just NOT PLAY IT. They're not entitled to take whatever the hell they want just because they disagree with a business decision.

And for those who say "I just wanted to see what a trainwreck it was", there was a free weekend recently. So that's not a justification either.

Edit: hey Gamespot programmers! When I hit that big key over on the right, the one with the funny-looking bent arrow on it, that means I want a line break. Perhaps in the future, your RTE control could start posting something to the forums that vaguely resembles what I typed? Look into that, would ya?

You couldn't be more wrong. COD4 was nearly dead until the steam sale. Currently 8000 players compared to over 30,000 on MW2.

xfire = fail lmao. If you want real stats look at game-monitor for COD4 and steam stats for MW2.

There is no point to using Xfire with MW2 and not everyone is using xfire for anything. Game-monitor has the total players for COD4 and Steam has total for MW2.

Not sure what you are saying here. game-monitor has all COD4 players and Steam has all MW2 players. That's the only true way to get the amount of players for each game not some app that most people don't use.

Actually, Game-Monitor does not. It's missing about over 5,000 servers.

so explain hl2 and l4d? steam has nothing to do with the p2p junk. All games should use steamworks it is so much better than the gfwl junk many game use.

I hope not. At least GFWL has an updated voip system that allows setting output devices. VOIP on Steam is crap.

hmmm forced? um no...In MW2 on 360 if you dont have the map you don't play those maps, its not like you can't play at all those maps just dont come up for you.

Its the same with the pc version your not forced to buy the maps you just dont get those maps when you join any playlist.

I wasn't insinuating Steam and P2P go hand-n-hand. You did that in your own head by reading it wrong. Had I insinuated it, it would've been more along the lines of 'Steam (p2p)'.

To any UT or Quake player the concept of paying for new maps is hilarious. Fortunately MW2 mp was far away from the COD 4 success in PC.

We could all do without this silly, elitist mindset. If you hate MW2, fine. I do too. But calling people stupid for buying things they love -- even if at a premium price -- doesn't make any sense.

It makes sense. The more expensive cost is compensated, in the minds of the consumer, for the complete and total absence of risk. They know that they're getting new [and old] maps to play in, and that they'll have fun in those maps.

I have never wasted a single cent on DLC and this might be the first I ever buy, why? Because outside of SW MW2 is one of the best MP experiences on consoles, and one of it's few faults is bad maps.

And I'm saying that line of thinking is irrational. Relying purely on branding will get you screwed eventually, one way or the other. Usually one way. PC users were asked to pay €10 more, for a product lacking features of its predecessor, and are now asked to pay for maps fans of the series already own and which would probably have been modded into the game for free. They are complacent ardent enthusiasts who cannot resist an opportunity to indulge an enthusiasm.

As long as it doesn't affect me I guess I'm fine with it in theory. Evidently they think it's worth paying more and more whilst getting nothing/less in return. So good for them, or something. But you know, ACII was $60. Starcraft II will be $60.
