[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="abdelmessih101"]You can't blame the mods for your inability to phrase something in a non-offensive manner.abdelmessih101what are you the GS defense force? My posts don't come off as offensive...but rather due to annoyance...which i don't see how. Unless a mod is out to get you, (which I doubt because contrary to popular belief, they do have lives), some users were obviously offended enough by your posts to report you, resulting in a moderation. No, I'm not the GS defense force - I'm just sick of hearing this whiny BS about mods and I would like to correct peoples' misconceptions about mods. Maybe your the lucky one that doesn't have a grudge by someone? ANYONE can get offended since its SYSTEMWARS..that logic doesn't work, considering the name of this forum. Me expression my opinion on why i dislike a certain console can have someone offended and report me..simple because i don't favour them. If it works like that, no wonder this place is so tight.

[QUOTE="BBwlovers"]Modds don't even get paid for modding they do it for the power.Skittles_McGeeOr to give back to the community by volunteering to improve it :| if you call, modding most for the silliest of reasons, IMPROVING the community, you simply destroy what the forum stands for. I can't even defend my statements/opinions with on topic small reasonable debates, without me being considered annoying or offensive..just because some random poster hates my views....GIVE ME A BREAK!
The law isn't perfect, the cops aren't perfect, the TOU is far from perfect, and the mods as well. It all exists because it works somewhat. Yes You will be moderated for stupid things or the users cause You to get banned, but without the mods the first 10 pages would be killzone threads and the users would spend all day posting porn and calling each other bad things. KungfuKittenMakes no sense, what your implying would only work if this place was never modded due to OBVIOUS trols and offensive posts. But since OVERPROTECTING is the issues, that doesn't work. Its easier to slip and no mod and be lazy, but over doing it, seems like abuse of power, rather than anything else. IMO
I completely agree, some moderations are for wierd and not so clear reasons, and then you have to ask to have it explained to you as oppose to them just explaining it. Also you should be able to see if someone reported you or if a mod saw whatever it was the was offensive etc.
And speaking of mods that williebeamish thread is hilarious, funny to see someone crack. SW is series business.

If so many of your posts get deleted, its entirely your own fault. Let me explain. Assuming each post in reference is being reported first, and then deleted. If this is the case, it shows that you did actually break the ToS. The reason being is that in the ToS, its also a rule to NOT report posts by the same person just to have them moderated, unless the posts are actually breaking ToS. So assuming this, if you're having multiple posts being reported AND deleted, it is your fault. It'd be different if only one post was deleted, because eventually the mods disregard the reports against the same person if they feel the reporting system is being abused and the people reporting are either moderated, or the reported posts are marked specifically as "Acceptable" and CANNOT be reported at all by anyone. Its not a foolproof system, but when you look at it, its clear that, no offense, but its your fault that multiple posts are being deleted. If you really truly don't understand why, don't ask us. We're just regular users. We follow the ToS, we don't enforce it. Take it to Ask the Mods. At least then you'll know what you're doing wrong and if you really aren't at fault, justice will be done.
you should be able to see if someone reported you>XturnalSYou can, actually. In the moderation report, it indicates if the moderation was reported. Says something about it around "action taken" or something like that. It doesn't say who reported it, but does tell you if it was reported.
Whenever I feel I've been modded unfairly, I take my issue to their forum and very carefully and thoroughly explain why I feel this is the case. Even when they're unable to contradict my logic, they refuse to ever admit they were wrong or even apologize. Incidentally, this means they never amend their flaws in modding policy. They don't care if they don't know what they're doing. And quite frankly, I never feel the motivation to report them to GS even though it's vastly warranted. They'll just rationalize their abuse and move on.
This thread is pointless. The mods will do as they please.

snitchers
I've only used the reporting system a total of 3 times. Please explain how getting moderated wastes your time (unless you get suspended). You don't even have to look at it. You can just go on as if nothing happened. And I'd love to see any post of mine in which I kiss a moderator's ass ... too bad that doesn't exist.[QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"]I've only used the reporting system a total of 3 times. That's....ridiculous. You're equating offensive content to a manner of conversation. What? Thats not arguing at all. Thats purely intending to annoy people. Thats only going to lead to people breaking the ToS and then getting modded because someone provoked them to. Whats ridiculous about getting rid of those kind of posts? They say you're violating the TOS, leave a link to it and expect you to figure out exactly how you're in violation. They don't really explain the particulars of how they interpreted your post as being a violation. They refer to the ToS without even contextualizing it. There's no accountability.

They aren't obligated to give a detailed explanation to every individual person who gets moderated. That takes way too much time to be reasonable. Thats why the Ask the Mods forum exists so that people who actually want the full details can get them. Its not like it takes much effort to make a little post in Ask the Mods for an explanation about a moderation.

So it's more likely that you intuited that view upon a particular approach to arguing you disliked. Interpretation =/= subjectiveness. Lets make an example. If you hold a knife to someone's throat, but don't explicitly say you will harm them, is it wrong to assume that the person with the knife intends harm on the person? Interpretation is a necessity for any kind of rules. If rules weren't up to interpretation, there'd be even more loopholes than we already have. Its not a perfect system, like I've said, but in the majority of cases it works, and thats better than nothing.
