Monster Hunter Rise GS review 9/10.

FFS I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The Good

• The Wirebug enhances both exploration and combat with its exciting moveset
• New traversal options get you into the heart of the action much faster
• Each weapon type retains its remarkable depth, which is further enhanced by an element of customization
• The Rampage increases the game's scale with a diverse alternative to regular hunts

The Bad

• Reverting back to separate Village and Hub quests sacrifices some of the cohesion
• The paper-thin story makes it difficult to invest in what's happening

Game of the gen.

Sounds like a good game. I will probably check it out next summer. I need to figure out if I want to get it for Switch or pc, but most likely pc so I don't have to deal with Nintendo's online service.

The Rampage missions is exactly what i've been asking for them to add in MHW. God dammit i have to wait a year to play them............

I'm waiting on the PC version. Not buying anything for Switch if there's a chance it gets ported later.

Pretty sure it has been confirmed for pc, so its not a matter "chance" at this point.

Ehhh, Monster Hunter is one of those highly-rated IP's I just never understood. I've given the series a try but I never got the hook. I'm always thinking if or when I should give it another shot.

Either way, good for the fans.

I tried to play it with friends years ago when it came to Game Pass. Expecting to be able to just hop in and join my 3 mates. 2 hours of faffing around we still hadn't managed to find each other.

lol that's not the game's fault. joining isn't an issue in mhw.

after playing mhw 60fps on ps5 and couldnt get in to it that much (probably because i play it solo), not sure if i would give this one a try in switch.

Yeah it is. The game should should make it easy for a group of people to party up and play together. I doesn't. Well the one I played didn't anyway.

Their coop system is very archaic (feels like its from 2005 still), but it was decent in MHW when compared to all the others.

Never played any MH game before , but its great it getting solid reviews :)

fair play to capcom though....it looks like they got great results out of the switch. looks lovely.

Kind of knew it would get positive scores and reviews at some point especially since the past Monster Hunter games have been enjoyable after the 3DS releases

What a gem! Game looks great and a proper sequel to world. I'm praying they get rid of the archaic MP system from World and just let you play fully co-op together without forcing single player hunts 1st!

....but bring back the sos system please!!

Cant wait for this weekend.... taking a long one to enjoy it! There was never a doubt in my mind that this would score well.

Yeah coop was serviceable in MHW and you get accustomed to it. It is annoying sometimes like having to wait till teammates watch a cutscene till you can join a friend on a quest. Monster Hunter World is considered a coop game but only in that having human teammates quickens hunts so much its ridiculous. A solo hunt could take around 20-30 minutes starting out but with a competent teammate it'll be half the time.

Since Rise will allow you to take in 2 npc this time maybe the solo experience won't be so rough this time around but yeah that's why people who try out MH for the first time without teammates likely wind up not sticking with it cause its not fun taking 20 minutes out of the day to wind up with squat.

Great. I enjoyed MHW as well as Iceborne a lot. I mainly play on Sony consoles, but I also own a Switch. I cannot wait to play Rise day 1.

Very nice. I’m getting the Switch version this Friday. Really enjoyed the demo. Only a few days away now, so hyped.

One does not think the voice chat is important til you don't have it.

Never used it on World/Iceborne so I don't think it'll be necessary in Rise either.

Its important in every single social game, and i have no idea how this is being ignored in 2021. At least allow us to type, but that's another thing that devs keep ignoring like its a pc mmo exclusive feature.

Have not used in game chat in years for any system/ platform...

Besides IIRC MHW didnt even have voice chat during hunts.

@shadyacshuns: I used it just with my friends in World and never really cared about it, but when i was playing the Rise demo with a friend it really felt like a huge step backwards not being able to talk.

Just party up on PS4 or PS5 while playing Rise together then. I've got a newb who will be playing along side me and we will be doing that.

@shadyacshuns: We actually tried it in another games with some apps and even phone calls, but it is a pain in the ass so we didn't bother with this one.

It was guaranteed to be fire. Monster Hunter is always good and Capcom knows their shit.

One thing i've noticed. When MHW was coming out, every gaming site was flooded with MHW content. Rise is coming out and there's literally nothing but the review.
