Monster Hunter Rise GS review 9/10.

Own a Switch played the Demo and meh... Not for me, played World as well and came to the same conclusion.

Mario Vs Rabbids is a better game for me, I recently got it on sale and damn what a fun game.

Preloaded and ready to go.... get hyped!

Why wait? Game releases tomorrow. :-)

As a general rule, I hate grinding, and I hate boss battles. Monster Hunter is nothing but grinding and boss battles, and yet for some reason I love it. I can't explain why.

Voice chat is indispensable for any online game. How else do you expect a squeaky voiced teenager to recount for you his sexual exploits with your mother?

I've already got it preloaded on the Switch.

Actually, I wonder if it has released already (it's the 26th here in Australia). Maybe I'll play it during my lunchbreak at work...

Watched some streams, it looks like the game doesn't even have turf wars between monsters. The Switch can't handle more animations on the screen 🤣

ill get it next week. i havnt played a monster hunter game since MH3 ultimate on wiiU. the wiiU harddrive corrupted and i lost like 80hours. i was almost done with the game. i was saaad. turned me off for years. but ill jump back in with rise.

btw... i love solo monster hunter its super relaxing and a bit challenging. you definitely need to play with people if you want to farm monster parts for gear though.

In the demo the monsters fought each other. It never said "turf war" on the screen, but they were fighting. Hope they can still can pick each other up and shit, but I don't know about that..

Why would you play a MH game for the story?

Exactly. Thing is, the story IS SOOOOO shit, that they should remove it completely. Its childish, written by people that don't know wtf they're doing and the best part about the series is the combat system, upgrades and killing shit in coop.

Sounds dumb. Both less comfy than Switch Pro controller, and the button prompts will be wrong.

I don't know about that. I would take it over the Switch Pro controller in a heartbeat. Button prompts will be wrong, but that's not much of an issue.

For those who might be interested in using their superior ps5 controller on the Switch

Woo hoo! Got my copy today. I’ll be doing some hunting this weekend for sure. Will be using the Switch Pro controller of course. I get a bit mixed up from time to time with the A,B,X,Y button layout and being so use to the Xbox One controller but it’s not really that big of a deal. Other then that I find it to be a great controller myself.

Not to mention the charge probably only lasts a few hours vs something like 60 hours on the pro controller.

@shadyacshuns: When have you heard of anybody complaining about battery life inside a DualSense? We're not in the 8th gen anymore, this is not about DS4. Its the portable mode of the Switch (you know, the selling point of the system) that has laughable battery life, so you might be mixing them up.

I don’t care what anyone says but I enjoy having the story bits in the Monster Hunter games. I liked it in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and am having some fun with it in Rise as well.

What is fun about them? The dialog and voice acting is literally "mute this shit" worthy.

I don't know because i has never came anywhere near close to running out while gaming. Its certainly not 3h like the Switch in portable.

Yeah, it's zero seconds. Power goes out and your PS5 is in jeopardy of bricking on you. Awesome.
