I'm still waiting for a big patch or when Capcom removes their 2 DRMs before I dive into this game. Or when I get an RX 9070XT.

@sakaixx: Wilds has far more map variety over World, the issue is they don't have enough monsters in the game currently to make it worth anything. However for getting 100% it's the easiest Platinum. Only got the Crowns left myself, and in a friend group scouting for the crowns. Binoculars tell you what is and isn't a crown so that's way more helpful than prior titles, with less monsters to crown hunt for overall.

I havent started the hunt yet and seems this is good news! Been doing investigations and clearing optional quests for now, slowing down after 2 days of running through the story.

Tbh the map sucks, its too big for its own good especially oil basin and icy map. I still not memorize many parts of any maps or routes, constantly relying on the seikret for navigation. I probably will come to appreciate it though as this is just early impressions, dont want them to return to ass maps like in mh rise.

Finished the story and have started High Rank. Love the gameplay mechanics and the game world environments are quite good. Monster variety is pretty good. Still not sure how I’d rank this as I feel like there are some aspects in World and Rise that I preferred over Wilds. May change as I play more though.

Monster Hunter World has had the fourth biggest Steam launch of all time, with about 1.4 million concurrent players in the first 24 hours. That's a bigger Steam launch than Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy, and only below PUBG, Black Myth: Wukong and Palworld.

I really enjoyed Rise + Sunbreak as well. Excellent game. Loved taking control of the monsters, using the to fight other monsters, and smashing them into walls or other environmental structures.

Not to mention all the moves you could do with the wirebugs. Super fun.

Can be summed up as overwhelming bias as a longtime fan that's close to already clocking the Platinum trophy: Easily the best game of 2025! I would give Wilds a solid 9/10.

For me personally it's a high bar to surpass that no game yet looks to come close. & yeah I don't think Ninja Gaiden 4, despite looking awesome, can touch Monster Hunter Wilds.

Have my issues with Wilds, however most of my issues are the lack of monsters for day-one. My performance and with my friends has been incredibly without issue. The console ports are very stable and well optimized. Much of the technical issues seems to be on P.C. which sucks, though makes more sense now that World and Rise came a year after console release, and even then had technical issues.

As for pacing and those I've seen complain Low Rank is too easy.. It's Low Rank.. LR hasn't packed a punch since Generation 2 on the PS2 & PSP. As for the pacing.. no one dislikes RP walking more than me, it's annoying. However it's clearly a 'best of both worlds' situation. Let's be honest, the casual crowd who is only here for the zeitgeist will drop the game quickly and just wants to brute force the campaign without learning the deep systems. Once they hit credits they won't know it was only the baby part of the game. & that's ok. They can feel good for Capcom carrying them across the finishing-line. As someone who soloed Fatalis in Iceborne often I think its difficulty is roughly the same as World honestly. You're not going to cart at all in LR if you're familiar with the series. & even HR will only really catch you off guard if you're under equipped or picking your nose. Some late challenges are about equal to what launch World offered; they're not too bad.

And finally for level design. The level design is excellent. If layers and depth is not your thing, feel free to play one of the portable entries with flat block maps such as X/Generations. Wilds is closer to the level design of 4G and that's a good thing, it offers variety and player experimentation. Which majority will prefer.

@RSM-HQ: Awesome to hear. Yeah, I'm loving the game so far, especially now that I got it to run great on my PC. Currently enjoying said level design by just running around and exploring, trying to find secret places and catch rare creatures with my net. :P

The sales growth of this series over the last 20 years has been exponential:

In 2004, Monster Hunter on the PS2 sold under 300,000 units in Japan and far less overseas in its first year.

In 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds sold 8 million units worldwide in its first three days.

Now after I got the game running in 80 fps on average on my mid PC, that digital foundry recommendation of passing on the game if you don't have a 4070 or higher seems dumb as hell. Aren't they supposed to be the PC setting wizards? I only had to change two settings.

I really want to play this game. But I think I need a better GPU for it. Which brings me to...

@Litchie How do you buy your GPUs? Online? Offline? I am in the market for a 9070xt but Prisjakt isnt being very helpful right now. They also probably have some good prices in stockholm, compared to where I live too :P

Also, glad you are liking the game.

Yup.

They made consistantly good games, and built goodwill. And now reap the rewards.

Used. :P What I have now is a 3070ti which I bought used from someone in Göteborg for 3000kr (via blocket.se). That's the first time I've bought a used GPU, and that is the plan for me going forward. I will no longer buy GPUs new in stores. Saved like 5000kr by doing that.

People think they need the latest cards for things, and then sell off their old cards for next to nothing. I will take advantage of this.

Before that, I usually went to komplett.se or inet.se.

@Litchie: Thakns for the suggestion.

Looked around and they charge 6000 kr for a relatively recent card. But I wont give up the search.

Very nice sales. Imagine that; a cooperative multiplayer game, released on multiple platforms, with the ability to play across multiple platforms together, selling incredibly well.

Surprised cross-platform multi-platform releases took this long to be a thing (I know they've been around for years but I don't think they've really been common until somewhat recent).

The thing is Monster Hunter is both. It's designed to be a single-player game and a multiplayer one at the same time. Always has.

Do agree crossplay was long overdue, clearly not a speciality at Capcom for the longest time. But they've been doing it since Street Fighter 6.

I remember Sony fannies claiming that such a feature is for folks on a losing platform. 😂 Some people are so broken it is pure comedy.

That 9070XT is looking good. Been Nvidia for a while and I was going to sit this gen out and stick with my RTX 3080, but if I can snag a 9070XT for <$700 I just might have to.

What DRM's are they using? I only played the game for an hour or so but didn't see anythign operating in the background. I'm assuming Denuvo and maybe an in-house DRM?

@enzyme36: Was only really niche in the West. Prior to World the past other games sold 4-5 million copies each. Asia even now is the largest market for MH but Europe bought millions of copies too.

For context, during the time EA rejoiced that Mass Effect 1 & 2 sold 7 million collectively. ME2 was also sold on PS3/ 360/ and P.C.

That would indicate MH Portable 3rd sold more copies than Mass Effect 2 during the 2010's.

---

Onto Wilds just got the Platinum. Far more tame than prior games. Crowns are easily gathered in Squad groups and simply sharing each other crowns from Investigations, really is the quickest and most time efficient solution. Meaning you only really have to find one fifth on your own if you're in a group of five. They've really made it far more reasonable than the Gen 5 entries Achievement lists.

Crowns aside seen some struggle with the Special items Achievement so here is my advice; make the Kunafa Set, it gives off the Forager's Luck Skill. Making the achievement far, far easier. It's the last one I got as well because crowns in World & Iceborne are just the worst.. Would rather slay Fatalis in 20 minutes solo over World crown hunting..

@RSM-HQ: Whoa, nice job. I will most likely never get all achievements. They force me to do stuff I don't wanna.

I'll never see 30 hunter profiles, I don't play with strangers. Only solo or with friends. I've never used the SOS flare and probably wont for Wilds either. Doubt I'll capture 50 monsters, no point, killing them is more fun. Etc.

Was thinking about getting all the crowns though, but I'll do that on my own. So it's gonna take while. :P

@Litchie: Very social hunter myself. Mostly play with my friends but when they're not around I answer SOS flare and help newer players take out end game temp monsters. The 30 hunter profile has a glitch as well, as people looking at your profile counts towards the achievement. I got mine pinged during a hunt me slapping a temp monster.

Capturing was probably the most easy part for me, what a lot of newer players don't know is the effects of a tranq bomb lasts two minutes so you can throw them at the monster well in advance. & you don't even need a tool trap, the maps offer a lot of hazard traps that work the same function in which these monster often hang around.

Wilds also has zero Elder Dragons so everything can be captured. excluding Low Ranks end-monster.

Heh, that's cool! Didn't know you could capture them in those. Will try.

@Litchie: But I get you not caring for achievements.

I've just made it a point to 100% my favorite games. It's more of a personal rule than any bragging right, it's entirely for me. Don't honestly care what people think of my gaming achievements, I play the games that much because I enjoy the games that much.

One of the reasoning's for showing my Platinum is how they've streamlined crowns to the point it's no longer tedious. With a few tips I've dropped in this thread hoping it gives those an advantage wanting to 100% Wilds themselves.

If I feel a game is just ok will never get all the achievements. as it's not worth the replay-value. Wilds much like any mainline MH game is already one of my favorite games ever, almost instantly.

Not surprisingly, the game is very popular on Steam in Asia, especially in China, with Chinese reviews being the top.

@miquella: According to Steam trackers, China is the game's largest market with 28% of all Steam players.
