In an interview with GamesAustra Moore comments that the 360 needs to broaden its appeal, and get fun back in the living room.

"We've got to continue to accelerate and broaden our reach into the broader market."

"As much as we love our hardcore guys -- they're going to love Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV and all of the incredible games that we've got -- at the same time, we've got to get fun back in the living room on our platform."

"I think Nintendo is doing a phenomenal job in providing that fun, unexpected experience, to their credit."

Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3 are not "fun"?

What do you guys think?

I agree, I enjoy shooting dead bodies in MGS2 and taking pictures, but I really really doubt that is what the general population constitutes as fun.

I think it great that Moore spoke his mind and the first thing he says makes fun of 360 biggest games this year.

Well the only wrong thing he said was that Halo 3 and GTA4 are hardcore.....

Anyways he was talking about broadening the audience kind of like how Nintendo is getting non-gamers to buy theWii.

I can't believe Moore categorizes GTA as a hardcore game. It's a pretty casual game.

I just played 200+ hours of Dirt, Overlord, Catan and Darkness over the last few weeks, and rented Crackdown and All pro for the coming week. I'm all funned out. That's why I stopped by here, to get a break from all the fun.

GTA has a lot of casual appeal, but there is plenty to do in the game, so I can understand why many hardcore gamers would play it/like it.

Personally I enjoy video game violence just as much as the next guy, but I enjoy thinking things out more than the actual act of violence. Its fun just to run and gun, and pop a dude point-blank with a shotgun (I love the muffled "Bang"), but other times, its cool to just sit back, and focus on thinking. this is why I think games like echochrome and LittleBigPlanet are wonderful steps in the right direction for Sony. Its this outward thinking that is going to contribute to them winning this generation (if it happens).

Yes hardcore gamers love hardcore games. But who's to say puzzle games, thinking games, and even mini games can't be hardcore. (before you Sheep chime in, I'm talking about it being an option, rather than that being almost all there is)
