I don't know about the other rumours though, it's too mental at the moment. Add a problem with the authentication patch on launch to a list of potential problems. It seems there's certainly something stopping some reviewers from playing X1 games enough to review.

It's the fact that they are trying to hide it with embargoes that is causing people to get really agitated. They somehow think that if they wait until 10 days before the console launches people won't have time to cancel their preorders. That's a dumb idea and this news was bound to leak. Also the fact that the XB1 costs $500 at launch basically meaning you're paying $100 extra to play games at half the resolution. I'd be pissed right now if I had an XB1 preordered.

I think the thing to keep in mind here is that 720p vs 1080p is a very easy to spot leap, whereas 720[ vs 640p or the like isn't anywhere near as close.

There have been confirmation from devs that they are able to extract 172 GB/s out of the GDDR5 RAM in real-world scenarios. It's likely that PS4's efficiency rate is around 99%.
The Xbone, on the other hand, has an efficiency rate of around 50%. Only 50% of its theoretical power will be utilized. That's why we're seeing such huge differences.

Because the PS3 had more raw power than the 360 for one. The power was there to be accessed. Plenty of devs managed to provide equal ports but there was a handful that put out really sub par PS3 versions.
Fast forward and we've got the Xbone with the weaker specs, rumours MS have provided weak drivers and as it now seems it's multiple devs who can't get equal versions. If BF4 isn't the same as rumoured then that's a big one imo. They've got quality devs behind that game, top graphics on PC, know their tech and provided good multiplats last gen. If even the quality devs are struggling how can you put the blame there? Even a graphically strong dev like Crytek have gone 900p and 30fps (iirc) on Xbone.

X1 can add memory bandwidth since it has two memory pools (think of L-shaped/asymmetric multi-memory controllers) while PS4 has a single memory pool with symmetric multi-memory controllers. LOL
I haven't posted any Xbox One running resolution.
Xbox One has other issues besides 16 ROPs or the bandwidth issue from 32 MB ESRAM.

The IW statement is an unreliable source itself due to it's age. The game will probably have only just gone gold. They were still developing when that statement was released so is only evidence of what they expected to have achieved at that time not what the resolution is now.

What if IW instead of running the PS4 version at 1080p,actually ran it at 720p,the extra power not use on PS4 could be use to enhance visuals,so if the xbox one version is running 720p mid to low setting the PS4 could be running Ultra to high settings,and at 720p that is something you will notice no matter how far or close you seat from the TV.
Also as of now we don't know if the accepts also took a hit,so is not only the resolution the only thing in question that is one of them.

I've done a practical scientific real life test. Wouldn't mind 720p too much, I haven't for the past six years, not like it's suddenly gonna become worse, but 1080p is noticeably better in my situation.
And Jeff plays in his bedroom. That bigger is better ought to be noticeable to him as well.

Dude Ryse was say to be 1080p and with 150,000 polygons characters,fast forward 3 months and Ryse now is 900p and with 85,000 polygon characters.

720p vs 1080p...and that just resolution lets wait and se actual game quality i don't think the xbox one will run at the same quality either.
i don't think the casual gamer cares if it's 720p or 1080p, BO2 was sub HD and it sold millions.
the question here is if the X1 is capable of 1080p or the consle is hard to develop for because of the ESRAM?
The difference is far bigger this time.
X360 Blops resolution difference from 720p was 288,000 pixels. Xbone difference with 1080p = 1,152,000 pixels.
What's that word? Exponential? The practical impact this has is not a constant. 1 million might equal 300k to some. Depends on variables your math ignores. I.e. distance from how large a screen?
Also, I'd say while the difference is noticeable to me at 9 feet from a 55" screen, it's not the god damned end of the world. At 7 feet, we might need to send Bruce Willis to space.
720, 900, 1080.... if the games are great I won't care. But if its 1080p and sucks, I still won't want it. Having said that, exclusives, features, and Kinect are why I want the One. Looks great from what I have seen and actually played, but no doubt the PS4 is a more powerful graphics powerhouse. For the record I think the rumors are likely true. I wish MS would just admit it and then get on with the business of showing their games and optimizing the One for devs. I want Titanfall, Halo 5, and Quantum Break to be the best they can. But all this hiding resolutions and stuff, provided its true, is getting dumb. MS should make their stand on the quality of the games and not the damn resolution, IMHO.

If this all winds up being true, then MS needs to just come out and admit it so they can put it all behind them.
Then they can try and move on past this bad press mojo they have been making since the Xbone announcement and focus on making great games.
Anyone that pays $500 for the Xbone or that has supported MS/Xbox over the years deserves honesty at the least.....and amazing games.
