To me at least the vibrant colorful art direction on Nintendo games are a breath of fresh air compared to the gritty greys and browns of most games today.

Even then that's not true. Link has had many different looks throughout the ages. Same with Zelda, same with Ganon.
The worlds have looked different. Wind Waker was cartoony while TP's was more realistic. SS seems to be blending both these styles.

If I hadn't, how would I have known there'd be no Ganon? I've seen plenty to know that it's going to be another Zelda game, which means it's going to be a great game (Wii MotionPlus controls look really cool, actually). But we're all still playing as the kid in the tunic saving the princess, so to say "radically different" is something I can do nothing but scoff at.
