This is why consoles are worthless; now this thread is sw material.

It is just that Dark Souls is a more fun and better game than all Elder Scrolls titles and their mods combined
So, consoles are not so useless, especially since they get Skyrim too and timed exclusive expansions on 360

It's annoying how people compare Dark Souls and The Elder Scrolls, they are two completely different games going for different audiences. Cut it out. Now.
You brag about timed exclusives like they're something legit. End of the day everyone gets the same product.
Now Skyrim on 360 will always look like Skyrim on 360. Morrowind on Xbox will always look like Morrowind on Xbox. Look at those screens, that is not the same Morrowind I played ten years ago. THAT is legit and that is a strong argument for why consoles are useless. Dark Souls and timed exclusives is not a legit reason for why they're not.
[QUOTE="Peredith"] nopeprinceofshapeirActually the Overhaul mod(the one used to make Morrowind that pretty on those pictures) replaces textures to much higher resolution versions up to 2048x2048, by comparison stock Skyrim textures are stuck at 512x512 or 256x256(because of console limitations), and stock Morrowind textures were set at 128x128.
[QUOTE="nintendog66"]Here are some better examples.RyviusARCYou aren't using MGE XE in those pictures as the trees/buildings do not cast their own shadows. So your'e examples are not better.
AFAIK, SSAO and water reflections/effects are still broken in MGE XE, at least in my version it sort of works better and performance is **** on MGE XE. That's only my experience though, I'm not sure how much they've updated/fixed since the last version I used.

MGE XE will eventually be the most used version since it offers dynamic shadows.
Too bad they can't fix the broken combat, only thing that ever stopped me from playing Morrowind for longer then a day before quitting. The modding community around these games sure is really talented though.

Because Oblivion's combat was sooooooooooooooo much more fun right?
You do realize Morrowind combat is roll-based right?
Yea those old PC games have something to them. I recently played Gothic 2 (maxed out, but without any mods) on my laptop and I was surprised how good it looks. Of course everything is a bit low-polygon and character animations are almost as bad as Gears 3, but overall I liked the crisp and clean look without post-processing effects, but with pretty good textures. Needless to say I played it on 1680:1040, so WAY higher resolution than console games.

Yup, I've been through this 100 times with people who love Morrowind. Dicerolls should not be used to measure hit chance in this type of game because it leads to some really stupid sequences where 3 out of 50 sword swings hits. Not my idea of fun.I'll take Oblivion with Deadly Reflex over Morrowind combat any day.

You must have hated any and all D&D games then.
Morrowind is the worst of the ES games I have played IMO..
I played Oblivion first, then bought Morrowind on Steam to see what all the noise about this game was about. It's like the game was fighting me, daring me to have fun. Boring, uninteresting, and just overall dull. I modded the crap out of it and it didn't make me enjoy it any more.
I got to play Skyrim on my buds PC, and damn that game is good. Blows Oblivon and Morrowind outta the water.

Yeah, well Morrowind is like a totally different genre from Oblivion/Skyrim. The former's a role playing game, the latter are more action-adventures.

Is that Morrowind :o Can you link that mod for the lazy?
Morrowind 2011 im pretty sure
Those shots are a **** The first set of outdoor shots looks pretty good, but the inside shots are awful. Absolutely terrible textures. The second group of shots doesn't even look like Morrowind, all atmosphere is lost.kipknotsVery funny. Textures are fine, I could easily find worse on consoles. Looks just like Morrowind to me and the atmosphere is even better than before especially with enhanced audio.

the usefulness of anything is determined by the user, sort of like beauty being in the eye of the one beholding it. My consoles are getting plenty of use from me.This is Giants Citizen Kabuto, a PC game from 2000 without any mods:
Looks better than many Wii games :P

That's just personal preference.
I finally got the Overhaul mod fully working :D
I was having issues with the game not loading, and it was doing the same thing again. I just had to disable the Morrowind Fix 1.6.3 or something in the Data Files to get it working. Hopefully, it does cause any unforeseen issues.
