I avoided sports games because its really more about what they're based on. Hell, people get just as aggressive over football trading cards/fantasy football :lol:

Speaking purely from a tournament play stand point. The Madden challenge was MLG gaming before MLG was even around.
Warhammer for MMO? I love the PvP there, everyone can contribute, even tanks, but there is a clear difference between a player ready to invade a keep, and a player ready to invade the city. If I remember from like a year ago :P
Starcraft /thread. No game compares to Starcraft in regard to the level of competition. Sure there are demanding games and competitive games, however Starcraft is a the level of a professional, fully fledged sport.

Street Fighter could give it a run for its money. Starcraft has gained a lot of fame for having a ridiculously insane following in South Korea, but Street Fighter has a lot of hardcore local competition in South East Asian arcade circles.
