I know there's been big disappointments this gen. :P

GTA4. As much as I enjoyed the past titles, I just couldn't get into that one.
I hear the episodes are better but I don't know. Should I? Shouldn't I?
Considering I loved the franchise and that one killed my interest, oh yeah, definitely my most disappointing game this gen.
I wonder how many people will say Alan Wake. biggest_loser
I wonder how many people will say Alan Wake without having actually played the game.
Resonance of Fate, I suppose.
Heard great things about the game, and when I actually played, it ended up being a frustrating, dull game. Not bad, just not as good as I thought it'd be.
I wonder how many people will say exclusive game "x" without having actually played the game.

Fixed :P

Flame shield ready?
To be fair, MW2 received a lot of hate before and after its release.
For me, MP3 Corruption was probably the most disappointing game this gen.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It wasn't that bad, but it was basically an unnecessary that isn't nearly as fun as either the old Mario 2D platformers or the newer, superior 3D platformers. Even my most trusted, normally very critical independent Nintendo magazine gave it a 9.5, so I believed the hype, bought the game for 50 euros and got bored with it in an afternoon.
Assassin's Creed. Maybe it's because I'm playing the sloppy PC port, but I bought this game not long ago for 5 euros and still wonder if it was worth it. I have only played about an hour though, so maybe I should give it a bit more time.

Damn. My vote becomes null and void. ;)
No, in all seriousness, from what I've seen (trailers, gameplay footage, etc.), Alan Wake looks like a great game.
I would say that this goes to Resistance 2. This game had the potential to be bigger than Call of Duty and/or Halo.
Personally I'd say Metal Gear Solid 4. The hype for it was ridiculous. It got perfect scores and was supposed to be penultimate MGS. When I eventually got round to buying it 1 1/2 years later it turned out to be one of my least favourite MGS games. If any more evidence was needed that Hideo Kojima requires someone to edit his dialogue then MGS4 is it.
Twilight Princess.
Though I didn't feel a huge sense of disappointment while playing it or anything. The overall experience just didn't compare favorably to the level of hype I had.
Halo 3. The campaign's storyline almost nonexistent, there was too much Flood, and it really just felt like more of the same. But it was the multiplayer that really disappointed. It just felt like a slight update on Halo 2's multiplayer with inferior maps and gimmicky equipment.Dr_CorndogOh yeah, this as well. Although I loved the multiplayer, the campaign wasn't much better than Halo 2's (which was a huge step down from CE).

Yes, and towards the end the game became boring . The last dungeon and endboss was a joke . However, even higher on the disappointment scale for me was Resident Evil 5 . I had such high hopes for this game, but it came nowhere as close as Resident Evil 4 .
The devs have timetabled alot of patchs set in stone, within the next 2 months every single complaint (bar the request for jumping) is being fixed, its a dissapointment now, but I reccomend keeping an eye on it!FFXIV, i was really looking forward to it and I loved FFXI, but 4/10... no thanks...

Front Mission Evolved.

Have it but haven't played it (busy with Atelier Rorona and MoH), but that's actually horrible news :(
Anyway, the game I was the most disappointed in FF13. It's not a bad game, but I hyped it a lot :/
Mass Effect. I only own a 360 and people were saying the game was really good. Turned out it was a mediocre game and the worst 360 exclusive (IMO).Mr_Cumberdale
Worse than Too Human?
Suprised no one has said this one but mine is Resident Evil 5. It took everything that was RE out of it. The gameplay dissapointing,co - op was the wrong way, inventory sucked, bosses were dissapointing and had a bad cover system and some monster were uninspired. It is not even close to RE4 which is one of the best games ever.

Agree with this.
Well, real RE fans gave up with re4 which was definetly survival but not horror and it was filled with trials. Then re5 came to show up with dumbed down gameplay and coop gimmicks. The real re fans did not care anymore.Suprised no one has said this one but mine is Resident Evil 5. It took everything that was RE out of it.
