Most Overrated Franchises Of All Time.

Can I just ask, why Street fighter to those who have listed it? The only one I found over rated was Street Fighter 4. It's like the worst Street Fighter game i've played.

But the rest are good.

Halo,GTA,Final Fantasy,The Sims,Sonic,Ratchet and Clank,Fifa.

Call of Duty - Nothing really separates this series from all the other (mostly superior) FPS out there. When the move to a modern setting (which is just as tired as WWII, if not more so) is the most interesting thing about a series, you know there's a problem somewhere.

Resident Evil - I'm going to just come out and say it: this series has NEVER been scary. If you think giant spiders and lizard men are scary, all the power to you. Due to such niggles as purposefully butchered controls, limited saves, bizarre puzzles and poor balancing they've never really been much fun either.

Grand Theft Auto - I've never managed to play a GTA game all the way through. They're fun, but like most open-world games they get boring way too quickly due to poor pacing and a lack of focus.

Every sightly popular game/franchise is overrated.

Gears of War - the second game alone is enough for me to think the franchise is overrated, it was such a buggy lagfest online with some of the most unbalanced weapons. I have no problems with the first, I loved the first, but the second one just plain sucks.

Grand Theft Auto - they're good games, but not the fantastic mega-games that reviewers seem to think they are, especially not GTAIV.

Final Fantasy and Street Fighter come to mind(TEKKEN IS SO MUCH BETTER). So do mario and zelda games in general (except maybe galaxies, and majoras mask+oot).

Monkey Island, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., KoTOR, The Witcher, The Longest Journey/Dreamfall, Street Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Baldurs Gate, Fallout, Civilisation, Total War, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Final Fanasty, Dragon Quest and Half Life.

Honestly though not liking something dosn't mean it's overated. I'm not a big fan of RTS games, but I'm not going to go about saying Company of Heroes is a terrible game just because it's not my thing. It's important to understand what other people see in things, and not just your own personal prefrences.

Having said that I think alot of older RPGs like Final Fantasy 4 and Dragon Quest 5 are a bit overated when they all start to feel the same after a while. There's only so many games in that style that you can play while it remains intresting. People praise these games as, "Well atleast they arn't generic FPS 345", but honestly the RPG genre is just a guilty for lack of innovation as FPS games.

I find it funny those who speak of KZ and Uncharted as if they are over rated franchises when the first Uncharted only scored an 8 on Gamespot and the first Killzone had a horrible score across the board.

I like the games, the multiplayer, and the fantasic musical score, but seriously...

Super Smash Bros.

The metal gear games. They're slow, boring, and filled with non interactable cutscenes that serve only to move along a story that barely makes any sense in the first place.

Guitar Hero is the main one IMO
