Most overrated game from each system and one multiplat

PS3: For me its between LBP, Infamous and Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 is a good game, but thats all, its nothing special and I thought it was just as good as the first. The same with Infamous. It was okay, but got boring really fast. Nothing special there either. I would say LBP is the most overrated. The most important thing in a game is gameplay and LBP had poor gameplay. It had a great level editor and alot of replay value that was pretty much useless to me since I'm not creative and I didn't like the gameplay.

Wii: The only game I've played on it is Wii sports so I can't really say.

Xbox 360: The only exclusives I've played on it was Forza, Halo 3 and Gears of war 2. I liked Gears, but thought Halo was pretty meh so I pick Halo 3.

PC: Pretty much all PC gamers praise Stalker so I bought it expecting alot. I was underwhelmed when I played it. Its just an ok shooter in an open world that could have been much better as an FPS/RPG hybrid

Multiplat: Mass Effect. I thought it was mediocre

Demon's Soul's - its ok but not a GOTY or as great as people say. boring i though

GoW3 - button masher thats not as good as bayonetta or NG

PC - Stalker YAWWWWWWNNNN!!! tried 3 times to play this. but give up as its just boring

360 - Forza, i much prefer GT5

PS3: Either Killzone 2 or Infamous

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2. It was a great game, but I don't see where the 10 out of 10 rating came from.

Xbox 360: I guess Halo Reach, but it's still a really fun game to mess around in with friends.

PC: World of Warcraft

PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 4, its a cracking game, but didn't deserve a 10 at all

360 - The whole Halo series really, they are solid shooters, but they didn't really grip my attention.

Wii - Smash brothers, I don't find them all that fun in the slightest

Nothing can compare to it's Overratedness.

Halo 3 ODST is pretty overrated.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 I'll say is Overrated.

360 - Alan Wake (it deserved a 7.0)

360 - Alan Wake - I wasted £15 and around 10 hours of my life playing that terribly repetitive game with one of the worst endings I've ever seen.

PS3 - God of War III - Don't get me wrong it's very enjoyable but it's no were near the quality of Darksiders or Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Wii - Super Mario Galaxy 2 - It was a great game and I'm still happy I purchased it. Just nothing like all the 10/10 scores it was recieving.

Multi-Platform - Red Dead Redemption - Whats the big deal about this game. No skill is required with the auto lock on. The Mexico bit of the game was terrible, the ending infuriated me. Even GTA4 was better than this game and I didn't like that at all. I hope to god that Rockstar doesn't mess up L.A Noire because I love the idea of that game.

PC: I honestly cannot think of one right now :(

Multi: Bioshock (although I have not beaten it yet, cause its so boring)

I really hope you have played through at least a few hours of Crysis before making a judgement like that ;). I have not beaten it yet, but I am a good ways in and it is easily one of the best games this gen.

360: Gears- Nothing really specially about it and gets really boring after a while.

PS3: MGS4- Average game at best, stealth titles are supposed to have good pacing. MGS4 lacks that, poorly told story, It's a joke compared to MGS3, 1 and Peace Walker

Wi: No More Heroes- Outside of the boos fights it was a pretty bland game.

PC: Arma 2 (its just not that fun and is harder to run well than crysis {on a 4870x2 atleast})

Wii: SMG2 (smg with new levels whooptie doo and NSMB>smg any day of the week)

PS3: MGS4 (gameplay ripped right of of last gen with a current gen coat and 70% more cutsnenes than game)

360: Forza (without the awesome livery this is like a boring Project Gotham with crappier environments and ugly cars)

Multi: MW2 (its like diet COD 4 with possibly the worst weapon arsenal/performance in any of the recent CODs)

The thing with overrated things is that you usually think they are overrated because you set higher expectations because people love them so much. Not always true but, often the case in my experience.

Ps3 Heavy Rain: Doesn't actually achieve what everyone says it does... I saw 8 endings and the differences were mainly just a set of 30 second long cutscenes chosen based on a handful of caveats. The actions you could perform were so controlled that you couldn't really make any decisions that could dramatically change the story. The story was trite too. The quality of a terrible made for TV movie. It always gets compared to game stories but, it shouldn't when it went out of it's way to NOT be a game. There is no lose condition and no win condition so it isn't a game. Judge it based wholly on it's story (on a literary level) and it blows.

360 Gears of War: Awful story, glitchy, awful characters and clunky gameplay. I genuinely think it is not just overrated but one of the worst AAA games I ever made the mistake of buying. So disappointed.

Wii (don't tell my flat mate this) Mario Galaxy: I can understand the 10/10 I guess, I suppose you have to rate it based on how well it does what it set out to do... which was whip the Mario pony some more. They shoved everything on spheres that seriously degrades the complexity of most levels and then put complexity back in by adding an infinite amount of gimmicks that most people consider innovative additions of gameplay. What happened to having a solid gameplay concept and exploring that? Oh wait they have explored Mario's gameplay to death so the only thing left is just to take some mind expanding medication and then say "dude what if mario was a bumble bee?".

Multiplatform Call of Duty: Awful stories with no intelligence or depth, short single player and unbalanced multiplayer. If everyone is so obsessed with real life why not join the army and be done with it? If reality is so great why even make games? LOL

I love how lists like this make the rounds more often than most underrated games... don't want to start a fad though.

Nah, the term 'overrated' could never be applied to anything, in a absolute way. For the simple reason that someone objective needs to classify something as overrated, and since that is impossible because humans are subjective beings, 'overrated' is a ridicule of it's own self. It never means anything, except for the person using it. It's directly tied to a opinion, and we all know opinions are different for each. I just use it for my own perspective, as we all, for the fun of it.

First of all Uncharted 2 and smash bros are among the greatest games of all time :P. Second of all HL2 is not PC exclusive, if it was I would have said Ep 1, cause that one is SO boring.

PS3: MGS4. Worst MGS ever. 8.0 in my book.

360: Gears 1, because I find 2 to be better. Still an excellent TPS that showed the power of the 360 back in 2006

Wii: Animal crossing Hate this game with a passion. The only nintendogame i hate.

PC- Crysis (the game is just so boring)

PS3- Resistance (very bland and just isn't any fun)

360- Alan Wake (the game is just isn't fun and has absolutely no variation)

Multiplatform - GTA4 (a major step back from San Andreas)

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4, was never interested, never will be. (but i would play in a heart beat over any FF game)

Xbox: Halo3 I guess, i nvere liked it as much as CE

Wii: Funny, I own a Wii (well, my little sisters do, I'll be frank, some of that shovel ware is pretty good) but don't play it. So no comment.

PC: StarCraft 1-2, I absolutly hate the Blizzard RTS games.

Multiplatform: ME2, I loved ME1, ME2 i haven't even bothered to beat yet. I would say CoD, but we all know it sucks.

Most Overrated Game of the ****ing CENTURY= Half Life 2

360- ugh too many to pick though. Gears of War 1 comes to mind, Halo 3 is the other. On this website. ODST by a WIDE margin
PS3- Resistance. MGS 4 is at the least a good hell great game at times. Calling Resistance Mediocre is insulting to mediocre games

PC- Total War aka Total Bore or Total Snore

-Super Mario Galaxy (It was good but no where near as outstanding as people make it out to be. New Super Mario Bros. Wii was better and Super Mario Galaxy 2is far FAR more deserving of the praise the first got. The first Galaxy played it safe and thesecond took risks and was more original and creative making thesecond galaxy my game of the gen easily. The first galaxy might just squeeze into my top 10)

-Little King's Story (What a poor control scheme. Nearly unplayable combat. It's no where close to as good as either Pikmin game)

-No More Heroes (The characters and wacky story rock, but all the actual GAME parts are garbage... It misses in the most important parts)

PS3:

-Uncharted 2 (I am anti cinematic experience. It takes control away from the player in most cases)

-God of War 3 (a combat oriented game in which the combat is shallow and uninteresting. DMC4 isso much better it hurts)

-The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (I didn't try the second DS zelda because this was easily the worst Zelda I have ever played.Let's make sailing even worse and more restrictive thanWind Waker's and give players as little to explore as possible! also let's have people play the same levelover and over again. Majora's Mask was a good change for the series. Phantom Hourglass was a very very bad one IMO)

Everyone can have their own opinion, but Uncharted 2 is so special because it DOESNT take away the control, it just puts you in an epic action movie basically where you DO have the control.

The only thing that is overrated is the word overrated. Such an overrated word. However just to play along, one high scoring game I didnt like

PC: Civilization 5. Horrendous UI, Tech tree is a joke, No Diplomacy, Talent Trees, The Leader shown got old fast, a step backwards in so many ways. Only thing improved from Civ 4 is combat. Speaking of which, where is Alpha Centauri 2?

Wii: Super Smash Bros Brawl. Melee was just more fun.

360: Gears of War. I dont like cover systems, weapon limits and exessive use of chest high walls.

PS3: MGS4. Too many cutscenes, bad story and stealth that has been outdone by 10 years older than it.

Multiplat: Mass Effect 2. Quite possibly the WORST game I have played this gen and one of the worst (if not the worst) I have played in all my life. Terrible level design, horrible conversation wheel system, terrible story, awful roleplaying, shooting didnt feel that good, repetitive, cliche characters, cliche world, each mission was about recruiting more members, atrocious scanning minigame that you have to do in order to save your entire party, dumbed down from Mass Effect 1.

That said, they are all good games, great even. It is just that they just happen not to be for me.

PS3: Resistance 2. I found the single player dreadfully boring, and the multiplayer was only okay. Not even close to AAA standards IMO.

360: Probably Gears of War. I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite as awesome as people said it was.

Wii: No idea.

PC: Sims 3 is all I can think of. It just got boring quickly.

Multi: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I hated this game.

360 - Halo Reach. 2001 gameplay, 2004 graphics. Horrendeous.

Wii - Super Mario Galaxy. Tacked on waggle gimmick, horrible camera, and the gameplay was dumbed down to the point that it was unrecognizable.

PS3 - Warhawk. I can find no redeeming qualities in this game at all.

Multiplat - GTA4. Do I really need to explain this one?

PS3: Little Big Planet or Yakuza. Tough choice.

Xbox 360- Halo reach and Halo 3. I never really liked the Halo gameplay that much, aside from the flying and Forge. Which is a shame, because the series has a very strong artistic design.

Wii- Brawl. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing and fun game, probably one of the best ever multiplayers. However, there are more flaws than people say. However, like I said, I love it and it's a great game.

Multiplat- Red Dead Redemption. It's campaign was fun, but short, and there was a severe lack of stuff to do after beating the game. Plus, the story was mediocre at best, until the end.

I don't find any game overrated or underrated. :| What does my opinion have to say about others'? Why does this stuff matter to people?
