I think people believe CoD4 was the first in the franchise.
You may be right. :P

I know that, people just decided to jump on the CoD hate wagon like a year or two ago. Everyone loved CoD1-CoD4....
It's not really fair to pick a series because you hated like one or two recent games and jumped on the bandwagon even though it has quite a few ganes that are some of the best games there is.

but the thing is, even the older ones aren't *that* great. they were solid titles, but some of the best of their time? nah.
Gran Turismo.I find it kinda dull, but of course I've only played Gran Turismo 4.I find Forza way more enjoyable.

I remember the good ol' days when I could play Call of Duty 2 on the PC and I didn't suffer the sound of 14 year old kids shouting "Your mom" jokes down the microphone. *Sigh*That's not the game's fault, CoD is still a great franchise, MW2 was one of the best in the series, that just unfortunately happened to become hated across gaming communities worldwide.

They were some of the best, if not the best, military FPSes available. Miles better than the MoH series.

You all sorta miss the point... Call of Duty is hated with a passion here. All popular games are mocked here, but they all have fans that eagerly defend them, all except Call of Duty.

Indeed they were, infact I had a go on Modern Warfare 2 only yesterday to immediately be harassed by a 15 year old kid telling me I'm a "noob" for using a particular weapon that apparently requires "no skill". I'm just not "down with it".

I remain clueless... O_O Teehee, I have a lip-piercing too! =3 God... I can tell I'm tired, talking crap as usual. Haha she's a non-popular pop artist :P.And nice :).You're not talking crap :P lol.I'd love to say Halo and I'd love to say Gears, and Final Fantasy, and Grand Theft Auto. But I can't. I have to say Gran Turismo because it's the worst excuse for a racing sim anyone's ever made, primarily because IT ISN'T A DAMN SIM! It's a piss-poor attempt to hide a mediocre racing game under a simulation skin and it's one of the worst damn racing franchises I've played.
[QUOTE="eboyishere"]
i agree with him on half life

Well although I'm being honest in saying I didn't enjoy the first Half Life too well, I think Half Life 2 was fantastic. But it is all down to personal preference I suppose. :)
it was honestly a while since i played it..ill try it again if i get the chance tho ;)
I don't agree with the term overrated (seems to implicate that my opinion actually matters to anyone else but me), but as for the series up there where I don't agree personally with the exuberant popularity, I'd have to go with LoZ. I like the games, but I don't find them to be THAT good. OoT isn't even a 9.0 to me.
Halo 3 was very overrated in my book. GTA 4 was awesome but I don't think it deserved a 10 review score. Most of the Cod games are overrated as well.
The problem with the way TC chose how to do it is that even on this site no game is universally loved or hated.
Anyways I can't really think of a severley overrated series aside from CoD.
Gran Turismo. It sells so well and is loved by many yet Forza has been making better racing sims since Forza 2.

I hate Forza with a passion, I got it for my 360 when I first got it, and I couldn't stand it.
Gran Turismo on the other hand....
anyway I say Jak, god I love the game, but it's not that good people!

How to make a Call of Duty game in 12 easy steps:
Step 1: Use an outdated game engine from 2005
Step 2: Insert crappy storyline about Russians and nuclear weapons
Step 3: Design a character that 12 year olds will perceive as "cool" and refer to him only by his mysterious call sign.
Step 4: Kill said character in a scripted event 2/3 way through the campaign.
Step 5: Kill key bad guy in another scripted event involving slow motion
Step 6: Add a halfbaked multiplayer mode. Make sure that there are plenty of glitches and imbalances and good places to camp.
Step 7: Profit.
Step 8: Release overpriced map pack.
Step 9: Profit some more.
Step 10: Add a subscription service for detailed stats, clan support, etc. and other features that would normally be free in many other games.
Step 11: Profit some more.
Step 12: Repeat steps 1-12 until series has been sufficiently milked dry and Bobby Kotick has enough money to fill an Olympic size swimming pool.
