COD4 AND HALO 3 BY FAR
Agreed on COD4. The multiplayer and single player are average at best.
Bioshock is the most overrated game of all time imo.
MGS4 is also pretty overrated on Gamespot, but gamerankings has it at a reasonable score.

Why don't we just rename this Topic to what it's REALLY all about?
"Which game that got a strong concencus of acclaim, and is regarded by majority as successful (by score and commercially) do you stand against and personally hate"
Because while you can have your own opinion of a game, that doesn't mean you can dismiss the opinions of the vast majority, which is what all this "overrated" crap is about.

CoD4 is absolutely amazing in both singleplayer and multiplayer, but I do believe the original Call of Duty was even better.

Have you played any xbox 360 games? I say MGS4 is overrated because it got a 10 on gamespot, but its Gamerankings score is 92.7. Even Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (the most debatable 10 on GS) is higher than that.

Chrono Cross is lower though on GR. And I use Gamestat scores, 9.5 > You.:Phttp://www.gamestats.com/objects/714/714044/
Oblivion. Here's why. (This was a post of mine from an Oblivion related topic on the PC games forum)
I wouldn't have a problem with Oblivion if it ****fied itself as an action-adventure and not and RPG. But since that it was cl4ssified as an RPG, I judge it as one and it's a poor one. I put about 100 hours in Oblivion and the game is a poor, poor RPG. Repetitive dungeons and forts, repetitive enemies, none of the world is worth exploring and the game severely lacks diversity unlike Morrowind which had plenty of it. The game has a big world, but it's not worth exploring at all. Also I don't remember an RPG where you can max out ALL of your skills. You can be a thief wielding a giant hammer or an archer wielding a battle axe. I don't remember an RPG that let me do that. That's well because.... they were RPG games that I were playing. Bethesda also said that NPCs were to live realisticlly. Is it realistic to see people stay in a church for the whole entire day just sitting there? Maybe in Cyrodill, but not in reality.
Then there's the Oblivion gates, in which the monsters just wait for you to come instead of trying to attack a city or do something sinister. Then when you go inside the gate, you realize that it looks the exact same as the other Oblivion plane you just went to. The game fails to do anything different.
Then there are the very, very unrealistic penalties that come into play. You can kill 10 people and when you're confronted by a guard, you could just pay the fine and walk. I'm sorry, but people do more than just pay fines when they commit one murder let alone 10.
But probably the worst problem with Oblivion is that you have NO say on what goes on. The game doesn't let you make any decisions, and the nothing is affected by your actions. Every WRPG I've played had that.
Oblivion is not a good RPG. Hell it can't even be mediocre if it tried to be.Oblivion, hands down, NO CONETEST.
I've never seen such a horrible review for a game in my life, they wrote it as if it is an enjoyable game. I'm amazed how so many reviewers gave that game a high rating.
WTB A REAL ELDER SCROLLS GAME
Also... why are people calling Halo 3 overrated? Are you mad because it's popular? Show me another console game that has that pc-feel to it besides halo 3. And by pc-feeling, I mean a vast community, tons of custom maps, addicting gameplay, and devs that update the game and playlist weekly. Exactly, there is none, so stop saying it's overated.

Well he hasn't played it and felt compelled to rate it a 1 here, so the dude has a point.
Anyways, I'd have to go with GTA4 and Assassin's Creed.
Portal. I don't see why anyone would call it one of the best games this gen after GlaDOS made you kill your best friend and after finding out the cake is a lie. Very disappointed.TechnoweirdoSimilar to this, except it drew attention away from the real best game in the package - Half Life 2: Episode 2.

yes i have actualy...but i dont own it, my friend has it...halo 1 is still the best
IMO its a toss up between
SSBB: Subspace emmisary sucked..online is laggy and not that great.
CoD4: Very easy game online, short singleplayer, multi was decent.
GTA4: Removed all the fun from previous games..in effort to put in more realism.
all i can think of now..i would say MGS4 because no game should get a 10 but i dont own it, and i would also say, Halo3 which is supposed to the the jesus of video games but it reality it completly sucked imo.
What's up with the hate for Oblivion? FreddyVorhees
This little quote from a review by RPGCodex sums it up quite nicely:
However, with Morrowind I think we saw that our kind of game appeals to a wider audience, given the game's success among more casual gamers who are neither "hardcore" nor "RPG geeks".
Gavin CarterThat quote is probably the best and most honest description of Oblivion I've ever seen. It's a game for casual players. Hardcore fans of the series or RPG geeks need not apply. You shall not find depth or challenge in Oblivion.

I don't really believe any games are overrated, but if I had to pick, I'd pick MGS4. While I gave it a 10 at the beginning, after playing some more and playing around online, the score has declined.BioShockOwnz
So that is your excuse for overrated "I've played the game alot and because of that, it became repetitive" lol
Every game becomes repetitive so what are you talking about?
