Lol they didn't even bother to play Zelda for free.

GunSmith1_basic

assuming that's pirated to PC via emulator pirates could have avoided Zelda because it uses a lot of motion sensing

you can play SS on an emulator just fine with a bluetooth dongle and motionplus wiimote

and people pirate wii games and play them on a cracked wii, you really think all those pirated numbers are from PC gamers emulating wii games? lol, someone is dumb

[QUOTE="lightleggy"] those are just torrent numbers, no direct download included, and imo direct download is more widely used than torrentslightleggy

direct download is used for DS and PSP games, sometimes smaller Wii games

but not 6gig+ torrents

uhm no, thats BS, trust me im from a country where piracy is not punished, I know and hang on plenty of forums that allow piracy, theres a huge ****load of people who download PC/360/PS3 games that are over 15gb seriously americans and their wrong view of the world...they think no one would want to download a 6gb+ game because "no pirate is willing to wait more than a day to download a game"

im australian

and my point still stands, PSP and DS games always get pirated by direct downoad, to say Crysis 2 is the most pirated game of the year is false, when in 2010, FF dissidia was pirated over 6mil times, just in torrents

australians, the brothers of the americans. Im not debating that DS and PSP get a ****load of direct download piracy, but so does regular PC games, if you think no one downloads PC games through direct download just because "they have over 7gb" then you are terribly wrong. hell, smart pirates dont even use torrents because they know most of them are watched.

To stop piracy we'd have to violate privacy rights of the citizens, then drag any pirate who gets caught and made an example of.

no, I dont believe in that statement. if piracy wouldnt exist at all, if there were no means to pirate a certain game, people who want it will eventually buy it.

Some pirated sales will eventually translate to a real sale. How many we will never know though. Its not worth speculation.

Even those people who live in countries where video games are not for sale?

Is someone living in Zimbabwe with portable satellite internet such a bad person for downloading games because he's unable to buy them?

-

What about those who can't afford to buy video games regularly?

Should they be denied enjoyment just because they don't have enough imaginary "money" to buy them?

Are they really scum for wanting happiness just like other people?

Yes the more information we get the more it looks like piracy has no influence positive or negative on sales.

Order online from sites that deliver to Africa. If you can afford to have a console or PC, you can afford internet access and order games online. There's no excuse for piracy.

Obviously, PC games are going to struggle to make a decent amount of sold copies because of piracy. Game developers have to take a risk in developing for the PC exclusively.

The game is good not great. All things considered it is still a J-RPG. Just a heads up. People tend to really want the things they can't get so be warned people will talk more positively about this game than they should. I'm also saddened that only the bad news got a lot of attention. The good news is just as important.

Crysis 2.... and then you wonder why they wentmultiplat. Oops, some idiot is going to come in here and say that the high piracy rates ARE because of it going multiplat.ocstew

That didn't turn out very well for Crytek did it? Crysis 1 probably outsold Crysis 2 on the PC at least and maybe even on each individual platform.

2 million across ALL platforms. And it probably won't sell much more than that. Crysis was a game with legs that kept on selling for a long time. I doubt that will happen to Crysis 2.

There is certainly great hype around the game, yet the game lives up to it. The "forbidden fruit" argument is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned because Xenoblade deserves the attention because of its own merits. Xenoblade received excellent reviews across the board from critics and fans. At the end of the day, it still is a JRPG, but it's a JRPG done right.

Yeah, because those things cost money. If they can't afford them, then it is something to save up for and eventually buy. Those games cost money to make, but sure we can just give out free copies because it would make everyone happy. They can want happiness as far as their tears will go, bottom line, pay for it; I don't care if you make $5 or $5,000,000, there is still a price tag at the end of the day.

yes I am aware of this but it is still a lot more trouble than playing it straight off your PC. I think that fighting piracy is a HUGE concern for Nintendo. It's a big reason why they stuck to cartridges for the N64, had custom disc media in the GC, and unconventional controls in the Wii, WiiU, and DS

Then why should welfare exist? Why not just let people starve on the streets if they don't have the money for food?

Denying people the right to happiness just seems incredibly cruel.

Money is a societal construct. At the end of the day...money is just worthless pieces of paper. People tend to forget this.

A means to survive is totally different than luxury items. I guess I'm just surprised that you are trying to compare food, water, and shelter to luxury items such as games. If for me to be happy is the highest amount of money possible, should I just go print some off?

StrifeDelivery

Luxury items are physical--a jet, a yacht, a really nice apartment--but all video games are digital files.

They can be copied a million times by average, ordinary people and still provide the exact same experience as the original.

-

I guess I just know a lot of people who pirate stuff all the time...they can save up to buy a $200 console but they can't afford to drop $50/$60 every time a new release they want to play comes out.

They could just rent the game...but at the end of the day, renting is the same thing as piracy to the developers in terms of profits lost, just on a smaller scale.

People only pirate because it's more convenient, faster, and cheaper than renting.

-

I buy all of my games though, because I have the means to do so and I really like supporting developers, even though I despise the concept of "money."

As far as piracy in developing countries is concerned, no one actually cares because the console manufactures don't distribute games to those channels because no one can afford it. Anyone who pirates it there isn't of much consequence, they actually never would have bought it to begin with. Being able to afford a console (generally a generation late console) and being able to buy $100+ games (exchange rates yo) for it is not realistic. People are idiots if you expect them to search it out through other means. Hell, if you've ever been to a developing country, all media is pretty much pirated.

Yeah the concept of money and the idea behind it regarding the ideas of the Fed and debt aren't exactly my favorite things in the world either. Developing countries is one thing (perhaps), but when you see average Joe crying about new game release price, those things go down eventually. Lot of times it comes down to being frugal and being patient. Renting still gave money to the publishers, since they worked out a deal with the renting companies.

And just like every other console game except for CoD, the sales will faceplant to nearly zero after 2 months.
