Remember I'm talking about games and it can be only developers not publishers.
I would have to say Nintendo, Rare, and Epic.

Probably Valve, maybe Crytek, but they're not big enough yet.
Blizzard have lost a lot of respect with World of Warcraft I think.

How so? Making the most popular and highly acclaimed MMORPG loses one sum respect? Well, I guess Valve is the crappiest company...I mean the way they out did themselves with Half Life 2? pfft...wat losers!
Edit: Here are my choices:
Insomniac, Team Ico, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Single Trac/Incognito (TMB!), and i never thought so until RE4, Capcom. there are more, but they have already been added by other posters :P

lol.... why? because YOU don't like MMO's??
It's the best/most addictive MMO to date..... although I have issues with the MMO formula, no one can deny that its not a great choice if you're looking for an MMORPG.

I think he means Blizzard are focusing far too much on the money these days.

Ah ok. In that regard, I dont care if Blizz focuses on money, as long as they bring out great games. WoW is a great game, and thus i think they deserve all the money they make...Now if only they could get those servers running a bit more smoothly.

that doesn't make any sense...... has any game they've worked on since the release of WoW come out and shown itself to be weak and using a license poorly to make a quick buck???? Ummm... NOPE! because Blizzard hasn't released another Stand-Alone game since WoW.... because they take their time and do things right, and even if its near completion yet doesn't meet Blizzard Standards it gets CANNED!
OH YES! They are SOOO! Money Hungry!

Your missing the point. Perhaps Blizzard hasn't relased a major game since WoW, because WoW is where the money is and all their other games (starcraft included) are lower down on their priority list because wow is such a money making machine.
Why make four games when the one you have already makes you billions of pounds a year?
Anyway, I'd just like to clarify that Blizzard are great developers but the idea that it took them almost three years to make agame since WoW is suspicious... Especially since valve, a much MUCH smaller team than Blizzard can churn out episodic content yearly.

Is this Bizzaro world where everything is backwards? Blizzard not only created the number one MMO in the world (crappy Korean MMOs aside) but they listen to their player base, going out of the way to fix tons of problems with old WoW.

Fairly good list. I'd also like to throw in Square-Enix (bring it, haters :P!), just because of their previous games (FF12...ugh).

Valve isn't juggling between several different games. :| Beside, the episodic content are very, very short as games so I have no idea why you are comparing it to full fledged games Blizzard normally produces. Seems like you just want Blizzard to flood out their content, which is contrary to their tradition of holding back their games just to make it as polished as possible.
Valve, for making the best single-player shooters of all time.
2K Boston, for making Bioshock and System Shock.
Crytek, for setting the bar for graphics with every title the release, and creating the most powerful engine on the market.
[QUOTE="REforever101"]ninty isnt respectable
i would have to say Infinity ward is though
Marth6781
wow, the new gen. of gamers.
how is ninty respectable?
ive liked ninty since the nes era, but lets face it. they keep trying to cash in on the same damn ips + spin offs over and over again
sure they're different each time, usually, but damn
IW's been good thus far. though yea, we havent seen anything outside of cod. so purhaps i shouldnt have posted them
ps: im in no way a new gamer, nor am i a casual

There games have hardly been terrible though. Any other company as old as Nintendo (and younger) have dropped the ball quality wise more than once.

I don't think there's anyone apart from Nintendo that can re-use IPs and get GOTY material with them at the same time. That's respectable. Devs I'd include are Ubisoft (Montreal but others are very good too), Blizzard, Bungie, Team Ninja, Oddworld Inhabitants, Bioware, and I'm sure there are others. But just to clarify Valve and Infinity Ward aren't one of them. They have a good track record, but they've only completed 20m in the 100m sprint. I wanna see Valve's next feature-length game and a new IP from IW before I set their legacy in stone.i would say CD Projekt only because they worked long and hard on The Witcher and was practically an unknown dev that recieved a lot of critism that they would flop but still put their heart into the game that makes them respectable in that sense...Remember I'm talking about games and it can be only developers not publishers.

And it seemed to have been the opposite because The Witcher was a phenominal success
SEGA, Konami, Treasure.Panzer_Zwei
Sega? Maybe during the Genesis to Dreamcast era, but not today. They've made some really bad games.
Retro Studios and Intelligent Systems.
VGobbsesser
Probably the only two developers to never make a bad game ever.

Outside of the rabid rabble of these types of forums. (which doesn't account to anything really) SEGA is very well respected. They are a videogaming institution after all.
