FPS is overrrated,over saturated and getting a tad stale.
Honestly i'd say platformers are horrendously underrated games.Especially this gen despite the 10 score of SMG2.

On the internet? Puzzle. You get a truly fantastic game in that genre(World of Goo, Portal, Braid) and act like it's a second cIass citizen compared to a "AAA game" in the action genre.

Not enough boom boom 25 killstreak action, I'm afraid.
Adventure games. Hasn't been a good adventure game from a large studio in quite along time, they're mostly only made by indie developers.

Uncharted? Isn't an adventure game. It's more action/adventure. He's talking about point and click stuff like Grim Fandango/Monkey Island or stuff like Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain.

It's specifically the genre that's been used to describe point and click stuff and games like heavy rain. At least that's how toast was implying.

SMG not only has a 90+ on metacritic but it has sold more than 10 million copies... The game's anything but underrated or underappreciated.
I actually agree with TC, at least when it comes to these forums. I just hate it when people complain about the lack of innovation in the genre and say it's generic, while all they play is Call of Duty and Battlefield. With the likes of Stalker, Cryostasis, Arma and BioShock, there have been tons of first person shooters that took the genre to higher plains and into exciting new directions. It deserves some recognition for this at least.
I'll also go with sports games, which can be some of the most addictive games out there, and grand strategy, which is not so much underrated as it is not rated at all.
Why? Because it's getting $#!+ on so much in fourms simply because of CoD. Expand your gaming world people, there are other FPS games that aren't CoD and are actually quite amazing for the genre.
Beat 'em ups. It's the best genre when done right, but it hasn't been since 1994.

I dunno, The Warriors last gen was a fantastic beat em up. i miss that game :(
The only 3D beat 'em up I ever liked was Fighting Force, but even that one has issues. I'm not a fan of 3D beat 'em ups, because I feel they lose their speed and arcade like feel. I want this, but with 4 players and just more of everything in general.
Id say FPS. COD is good, but people dont appreciate the quality and quantity it brings to the industry each year.Second_Hokage
:lol: FPS is underappreciated? It's too much appreciated. It's like all people play these days. I'd say JRPGs. So much ridiculous hatred against those by people who haven't ever played one.
