I have been saying it since the game was announced:  Don't hype it at all.  But cows are desperate for games right now, so I don't know.  I guess I'll let them push this A title as AAA.

Well, i don't know if it's gonna flop but it certainly isn't the PWNZOR that fanboys make it out to be.

No I'm not. :|
Are you telling me it'll take them five years to add 2 cars? .
Felous1
Somehow 2 cars aren't going to add much variety to like they say, "the most featureless racing game" they have ever played.

What's that wooshing sound? Think it's my sarcasm going way over your head. I was trying to emphasize how silly it is to put words into people's internet mouths. Apparently I failed. Perhaps I didn't exaggerate enough. 50127 years for 1 car? I mean seriously, get real. It won't take them that long to create just one car. Besides, they'll all be dead by then. How the hell are they gonna complete the game then, huh?
[QUOTE="InsaneBasura"]
Optimizing loading, adding car stats and some form of custom race/tournament option shouldn't be too difficult to manage in 3 months time.
Felous1
That's not the only thing they have to do in 3 months, they are working on the online part as well. You know, they have to test it a lot and fix the bugs and such. And do you know when the japanese version of the game was released ? Tell me. "The japanese version is a beta version" Weakest attempt at damage control of the month !

As I said, multiplayer will be in the game, it's been confirmed already. Don't know why you decided to cut that part of my comment out and go all "but the multiplayer!" on me. It's likely the other stuff IGN are complaining about will be taken care of as well, as it's not as time consuming as adding an online component. Take note how I'm not claiming they WILL fix all this stuff in the NA version. You know, like how you're claiming that they won't and that it would take 6-12 months. And I think it's been mentioned more than once that the Japanese version is missing features and is released 3 months prior to the final version. It obviously is incomplete. I don't understand why you think calling it a beta is such a leap?

Huh? Optimizing load times, adding car stats and a free run mode would take longer than creating an online component from the ground up? Perhaps on planet WTFBBQ that's true, but please adhere to the rules of Earth while visiting.

Felous1
Good games take a long time to make, that is a fact. You are telling me that in 3 months they will, fix the loading times, add 10 modes, add 300 cars and 40 tracks with deep customization ? Get real.

They ARE adding Online/Multiplayer, alongside that if they decrease loadtimes and add some extra features, that would be cool - but more maps and cars? Is that necessary? Deep customization? Do you want to supe up your offroad ATV?

While that might be true, I think you forgot why the game got delayed for the NA version. For what ? Online gameplay ? Not to add all those features that the japanese version is missing.

The thing is, the japanese version launched not long ago in Japan. But the NA version is delayed because they will add online and I don't know about multiplayer offline.

Anyway, some people here are in damage control mode saying that the japanese version was a beta of the game. The NA version won't be much different than the japanese version. IGN and other people that played the game didn't only complain about the online and multiplayer.

And do you know when the japanese version of the game was released ? Tell me. "The japanese version is a beta version" Weakest attempt at damage control of the month !

So... you know what they have to do? Take this into consideration - the Japanese version had to go gold about 2 weeks to a month ago to be ready for launch. So that means in the last 2 weeks/month they could have maybe polished up framerates. Or maybe added stats into the car loading screen. Thats one of the like... 4 problems IGN had with the game. Multiplayer could be NEAR finished for all you know, but was not ready for the Japanese launch, the reasoning for them not adding it is that online gameplay in consoles in not a priority in Japan, so they felt no need to add a rushed version. In 3 months, if they added Multiplay/online (which they will) maybe added car stats and decreased loading times (bonus) I don't think anyone would have very many problems with it. If they added some new modes? Like... a competitive crash mode, the person who has the best crash wins or something. Who knows, they could add a simple game mode, like a backwards drag race, and that shouldn't take too long. All in all, you REALLY want this to flop don't you?

You're complaining more about it than they are. IGN complained about lack of features (like other race modes) They complained about long load times and no stats next to the cars. Online Play too - but that WILL be added in, so I see those three things, the most substantial of the three being lack of features.

Yes you're completely right. They'll most certainly just ignore the feedback they're getting from the Japanese version. They will only to add online support and nothing else, because you possess magic telepathic abilities that you read the lead designers mind with.

That they delayed the NA version (or rushed the JPN, whatever) and then stated they were going to add online multiplayer doesn't mean they won't fix/add anything other than that. Sorry.

I think i should write to Evolution studio, and let them know that ppl from GS forums know more about your product then your own company. and your interview that states that the NA and UK version will have added features and MP is BS. Because the ppl from GS forums says 3 months is not enough time to add that type of content. who cares if you have antoher version in your studios that already have this features. The ppl from GS forums know so much, that i rather trust them , then you guys at your studio. QQ some more Evolution alfy13

Can they add online multiplayer in 3 months? I say maybe, actually probably. The one problem could be the fact that this will probably be the developer's first time working with Sony's online system for the PS3. They might run into problems that weren't expected due to lack of experience with the APIs and hardware. Sega GT Online was just Sega GT 2002 with Xbox Live support, yet the online racing sucked and suffered from horrendous lag problems, had no lobby system, it was just garbage yet they had over a year to work on it.

Adding 10 modes, 300 cars and 40 tracks would take a substantial amount of time, but luckily no one (but you apparently) is expecting them to. IGN however are expecting the things lacking in the Japanese version to be fixed. I'm inclined to agree with them. Optimizing loading, adding car stats and some form of custom race/tournament option shouldn't be too difficult to manage in 3 months time. Multiplayer support with leaderboards and whatnot has already been confirmed.

The Japanese version essentially is a beta (but rather than riddled with bugs it's missing features) and it's kind of sad how lemmings bash the game based on it.

And don't forget, they might have this things almost ready, or at least in have them already in development for some time, they just didn't had time to put it on/or didn't wanted to in the Japan version. So the online and all might be already in the works and very advanced.

You know tho gamespot is automatically gonna give it a slightly lower score tho for no online, im not saying it wont be AAA but it will hurt it a bit.  Now and days its kind of absurd not to have an online component in a fighter game

The fact is, even if they fix the loading times, the rest they can't fix just in 3 months. The game still won't have many cars, zero customization, not many tracks, and even if they add another mode it still won't be deep enough.

exactly, imo all thats gonna change is an online mode, there is absolutlely not enough time to make "the most featureless racer" (ign's words not mine) any better.  it will still be missing alot of features.  to think that online was finished and just chosen to not be put in the jpn version is dumb.  if it was done it would of been in there, so obviously they are still working on it, nearly finished possibly.  im not saying it will be a horrible game but dont expect much to change, except for online multiplayer in the next few months.

[QUOTE="-Pale"]"this is the most technically impressive game I've ever played." Hellz yeah. The japanese got gimped with this version, no type of mutliplayer whatsoever and all you do is complete the tickets. Not even an arcade mode, or any type of customization. Sucks for them, I would imagine.

You guys act like they can work miracles and make the US one awesome, but they made on to it but it is still going to be subpar.

Once you have the basic game engine down and working just fine you shouldn't have too many problems adding new models; however, here's another possibility, people are complaining about framerate issues, right? Well, if the game is already hitting a bottleneck somewhere in the PS3's hardware adding another 1 or 2 extra car models definately isn't going to help the issue, in other words the car models might be done but left out of the Japanese version to ensure that it runs as well as it does. As it's been said, adding extra single-player game modes shouldn't be too much of an issue once the engine is done and working properly. This is still a first generation game for the system, the developers aren't totally familiar with it, they might run into problems that could result in delays or missing features.
