Quite embarassing:
Been a console gamer since I was 4. And only recently became a PC gamer. I've only been playing FPS on PC for a few months... Then I went back to try and play Gears of War. I found using the controller again really difficult :P In the end I just kinda gave up...
controller for me. I can play with K/M just fine, but I'm used to a controller and consoles.killerfist
Same here, I prefer controllers, but used to play Diablo 2 for many years on PC and had no problems with keyboard/mouse. I can see a big argument brewing as to which is best,
there is no best, only personal preference.
this is tough! I love the keyboard but i can't imagine playing NG2 on that. with the controller all the essential buttons are in my grasp in a comfortable pose. hmmmmm I'm going to say keyboard because after seeing assasin creed I think action games mite have a chance.(doubtful tho)
Pro keyboard games: FPS, RTS, Fighters,Flight Sims
Pro Controller games:Action, Fighter, Driving
Depends on the game. It's KB/M for FPSs and strategy games. there is no real debating.
Platformers benefit from analog movement, so it's better with a control pad. again, no debate.
Every other genre usually depends on now it was programed to move and respond, and depends on that even more so then "personal preferences". People will argue a lot over this topic, but the fact is that there are physical reasons why one set of controls is better then the other.
Its great that PC gets all options, and I like how the PS3 is leaving it open for developers to include support for kb/m.
I love using KB/M for a lot of games, but there are also a lot of games that work very well with a controller.
Overall, I like KB/M more just because there are so many more settings you can configure and you can customize commands, sensitivity, mouse weight, etc. to fit your needs. It doesn't hurt that there is a vast mouse/mousepad selection so it's almost guarenteed you'll find one you're comfortable to keep your hand on for long moments of gaming.

It sounds like that would be impossible to disagree with, but there really are better controllers for different game types. Kb/M is the best controller for FPS/RTS. Keyboard/joystick is the best for a variety of sims. Racing wheel/pedals is the best for driving games (controller in 2nd place). Arcade sticks are the best for fighters. Controllers are the best for platformers and serviceable in about any game type.
Controllers are excellent considering how well they can do with a variety of genres and that you can play from the couch (unlike keyboard/mouse). With all that said, I still prefer Kb/M. Having so many available binds and about the perfect freelook system to boot is great.
Mouse and Keyboard for some things, controller for others. Overall, I guess you could say I prefer KB+M for most anything other than platformers and fighters.
i suck with keyboard and mouse,,, but I'm terrible with the controller.
Using the controller for GTA4 on my PS3 is currently driving me nuts

You suck with a controller and a keyboard/mouse ? What do you use normally ?
Keyboard and Mouse for me in FPS/RTS, but it's servicable on racing games tho.
Controllers for everything else except for games like Fable.
Controller. Mouse and keyboard offer more precise aiming, but I find a gamepad far more comfortable. I play games to have fun, not to worry about whether I nail a one-pixel headshot, and so comfortable wins out.lowe0
I find most gamepads less comfortable than my mouse, to each their own.
I prefer Keyboard and Mouse for FPSs and RTSs, but Controllers win for everything else. And since I don't play many FPSs and RTSs, I would say that I barely have any use for a Keyboard and Mouse, ever.DeathScape666What do you type with?

I have a voice thing that registers my words and stuffz like that. It's awesome.
Well, considering I hate those controllers in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but love my M/KB controls, you know what I voted for. :P
JK. But I still prefer M/KB.

But yeah, you thought you had me in a corner, but at the last second, I whipped out a jetpack that you didn't even know existed and escaped.
It's 1 to 1 now. ;)
