after doing some research, i come across some one saying sony has more movie studios to pick from, mainly sony pictures. any truth to this? or does xbox offer sony pictures movies also. or maybe xbox offers movies from other major studios that sony does not. do one of the consoles offer a broader selection, i think this is what really matters the most to me. hopefully more people chime in, because i really would like to know.

honestly, netflix will not have any influence on my decision.i just canceled my netflix a couple days ago. the watch instanlty on my pc was nice for a while until i realized i had seen 99% of the movies already, but what really got me was the long waits for new movies delivered to my door. example, hangover and terminator salvation were still on a wait list 2 days ago right up till after i canceled. this is why i want to try out a console, so i can watch all the new movies right when there released.

Netflix isn't available all parts of the world. Apparently Sony has a pretty solid lineup, and as they have their own movie-companies they have a considerable amount of exclusive content, where Microsoft does not. Mind you, they have stated that they intend to encorporate their movie-download service into other products, such s their TV's, so if other features of the Xbox 360 attract you more than the PS3's, I would recommend going with the Xbox 360, and potentially buying a specialist TV later on.

That said, the Playstation 3 is obviously a Blu-Ray player, and has more visual display options whilst you are watching the film. So if you don't intend to buy a new TV, it is probably worth going with a Playstation 3 as they have a higher chance of having more titles in the long term, due to their relationship with the film industry.

well I am a fan of netflix...but the problem with new releases on the consoles is for about 2 weeks after release ur only able to buy in standard definition....after some time is passed ur then able to rent in HD and on the 360 stream in HD

well, there doesnt seem to be a clear cut winner. 360 has more features like hd steaming.and sounds more refined. ps3 has more exclusive content or the possibility to have more content in the future and possibly get some new releases sooner. hoping more people jump in and give there take on this. thanks

Both have Netflix streaming at this point, the primary difference being that you have to get a disc to use it on the PS3 using BD Live and on 360 you have to have a Gold membership for it to work. As far as straight movie stores go, I know Sony has direct partnerships with several networks and movie studios that have specific channels on their movie store. The TV shows I've downloaded has been great quality and the store is easy to use. I haven't used Netflix on it yet, but a former roommate of mine was using it and says it works great. Netflix on the 360 is integrated as an application rather than disc-based.

I can't really say too much about the 360's movie service (seeing as I haven't used it), but I'm sure it's good as well. The 360 has had Netflix as an added advantage for a while now, but that's no longer the case.

Between the 2 consoles, I'd say the PS3 just because of the added advantage of Blu-Ray. Keep in mind though, this is only going to matter if you have an HDTV. If you don't, they're pretty much on par and it comes down to if you plan on gaming on either and, if so, what system's games your want more.

Of course it does, Netflix doesn't give a crap about the console war. Anyway, definitely 360, for all the reasons people have listed.

maybe i am not understanding netflix on consoles. do they let you stream movies that are not avalible for pc? example for what ever price would a person be able to download or stream a new release like say the hangover? or is there play instantly service the same on all platforms? honestly guys i have searched the web hard to find my answers and cant. all i can come up with is 360 has a deeper, bigger library but ps3 covers the new releases a little better. does this sound correct?

I would go with the PS3. If you're going to stream movies, you'll probably hook it up to your TV in your living room, which is probably far away from your router. So no need to run cables or pay $100 extra. PS3 supports Streaming of HD movies, has its own store, which has plenty of movies, more than XBL's, and to top it all off you get a blu-ray player for the true HD experience. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a fanboy.

[QUOTE="KukicAdo"]I would go with the PS3. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a fanboy.

i was leaning towards the ps3 from the begining because of the built in wireless. it will be sitting away from my router and wouldnt mind saving that extra $100 for a game or two. but in the end it comes down to the convenience of renting movies and it sounds like ps3 might have what i am looking for. thanks.

Because like the TC demostrated above, he had no clue about the little fee ... I was informing him, like I already said ... sheesh.

the lil fee that doesn't matter for what he is asking about? ...well done

You brought up Netflix as being the better version between the 360/PS3 ... which it is, but he deserves to know that you need to pay 49.99 a year for that better version.

So yes it was well done on my part to inform the TC.
