All motion sensing has proven to do is make games incredibly easy and dumb down every game into a light gun game basically.. Nintendo kind of shoved this crap in our faces when we where perfectly happy with how a normal controller worked. Now every Wii game is basically destined to be easy as hell for the brain dead non gamer.

Besides it doesn't exactly work with every genre motion sensing like a normal controller does. Sure it can make you think an FPS is some how fun(er) to play with but in the end it just because it's different type of gameplay not because it's motion sensing. It will get old and repetative after a few days... When you realize you playing an FPS but with a different controller...

Rough_Divider

its really not that easy if you play on veteran or higher, and no....the motion sensing fun doesnt ware off in a few days.

Your already wrong. MP3 on veteran mode is damn hard, especially the boss fights. No, it doesn't get repetitive, MP3's controls are one of the best I've played, much more entertaining then a lot of other FPS's I've played(If you want to call it that).

Lair single handidly justifies the removal of motion sensing from games.

Point is: I would rather not have motion sensing at all, then having only 2 games a year that control in anyway decent. Meaning devs need to get their act together and either not use motion sensing or get it right, like MP3.

Except a normal controller and keyboard and mouse work much better with an FPS. If you want to play a light gun game go to the arcades.. :| go play house of the dead or somethin.. don't bring that crap onto consoles.

Light gun. LOL. Nothing like it. Keyboard and mouse may turn better, and have SLIGHTLY better aim, but motion just feels so much better to play. This is one of the best games i've ever played. True class went into developing this game.

Unlike a lightgun though, you are using the pointer to see a reticule on the screen. Are you saying that every kill in MP3 is essentialy a no scope? Then I freakin' rock.

From anyone else but the TC, this topic would have urged me to rent MP3 soon or just flat out buy it. But since this is a Jedigeminipost we're talking about....... I'll just play MP3 whenever I get around to it.

MP3 is a joke. This is 2007, where gamers EXPECT HD visuals and 5.1 audio. Both of those featues add so much more depth then a control scheme ever will.

MP3 is a great game. But just as good if not better FPS can be done without using motion control: Bioshock.manningbowl135

Daaaaaaaamnnnn, he told you!

Seriously though, arguing that MP3's controls aren't better than dual analog is like saying kb/m isn't better; dual analog is, simply put, the slowest and least accurate of the 3. Does that make it bad? No; I happen to like dual analog more than kb/m, simply because I prefer using controllers. But is a controller going to give you the accuracy of the wiimote or a mouse? Of course not. You want to diss the Wii, diss the graphics, because the control is spot on.

And Metroid Prime 3 is amazing.

As good as Bioshock is, it would have been 10 times better with good motion control. So would any fps.

No, Mouse/Keyboard makes its better.

As of right now, I feel MP 3 almost suprasses MP 1. MP 2 is the lesser of the three, while still enjoyable it didn't do much. MP 3 changes a few things around that get the game feeling completely epic and grand in scale, and it shows off the Wii's strengths well.

 Just wondering, how's your set-up like? I actually had my Wii Remote freak out on me before in a few other games, even teh menu, but I noticed it only happened because my t.v. is by my window, and if I had the blinds up, the sunlight would throw off the sensor. Do you have any sunlight, or flourescent lights in your room? It could be throwing it off... just saying. Cause I've never had problems after I learned that, and kept my blinds down, and MP 3 has never given that problem to me.

Not saying I don't doubt you though, or that it can't happen.

Metroid Prime 3 knocks me to the ground and stomps me in the face. It destroys Prime and Prime 2 in terms of quality and epic beauty. Skyland alone destroy's anything Prime or Prime 2 ever offered... even Sanctuary Fortress.

Prime 3 so far is the greatest game in the Metroid series... but its lack of having Samus talk is what gets me both angry and sad at the same time. As long as she utters at least a few words right at the end I will be satisfied.

The problem is that these type of controls aren't very versatile. There are a few things that work well...FPS'ing, fishing, swinging a bat, etc.

BUT, there are quite a few things at which this control scheme is a hack-job at best. Platforming, for example. The games that don't work so well must be custom tailored to suit the scheme, which is the reverse of how controllers should function. Controllers should always work to complement the vision, not dictate it.

I agree completly. I just got on the skyworld level and it looks amazing, I was so impressed. Also, what's with Nintendo and there non-talking characters. I know all the characters go back a while, but you'd think they'd have at least one talking character in there line. There are so many parts where it looks like she has something to say, and then nothing. Gets frustrating considering this is the type of game that would be perfect with a character that could talk since she's all alone most of the time.

Same here, because Samus was never silent in Metroid games. She had some monologue in Super Metroid, she never shut up in Fusion... so seeing this is a bit saddening... >.>

I'm pretty far in the game too, and I'd have liked her to spoken a bit... hell..

The main problem is, Samus is not a silent protagonist like Link. She has spoken in other first party Nintendo games. Super Metroid, Metroid: Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission all feature Samus "talking" about things in the game. She "talks" quite a bit in Fusion and actually develops quite the unique personality. I don't know whose decision it was to keep Samus silent but it was a horrible mistake IMO.

If samus talked it would probably sound really stuffed up anyway. I'm glad most nintendo characters don't talk.

She's still a lady. Do I really want to see her in the light of her only voice being painful groans from being hit and throw up noises? No. To me, she is an innocent, yet still kick ***, money hunting, revenge seeking, non-conformist (NOT EMO), works well under presure, and who can handle herself in the face of grave danger. The last thing I want about her image to be skewed is her benging and purging.

[QUOTE="luigigreen"]I agree completly. I just got on the skyworld level and it looks amazing, I was so impressed. Also, what's with Nintendo and there non-talking characters. I know all the characters go back a while, but you'd think they'd have at least one talking character in there line. There are so many parts where it looks like she has something to say, and then nothing. Gets frustrating considering this is the type of game that would be perfect with a character that could talk since she's all alone most of the time. foxhound_fox

I know. Link fits the silent hero character to a tee. He's this mysterious hero that wears a green garb and says nothing, but that's what makes him so intresting. Mario seems to be the complete opposite of that but still he's silent. I don't understand the reason why they would not give her dialogue. At least it's better then say bad dialouge or bad VA.

If samus talked it would probably sound really stuffed up anyway. I'm glad most nintendo characters don't talk.monkeysrfat

You obviously have never played Metroid: Fusion. She has an incredibly unique and caring personality.

Both Samus and the Metroid universe are becoming highly developed in terms of depth of story and content descriptions. Not giving Samus a personality in a game with full voice acting is blasphemy.

I'm just saying that even the little things like that can throw me out of the mood sometimes. I wouldn't mind if she had made some throwing up noise.. hell.. I expected that much as least, but no... :|

It wouldn't detract in her character at all, it would have added to it for me... making me feel like "Crap... what's going on? The poor girl.." Cause we know why she's throwing up, and what it is she's throwing up.

It's been so long since I played and beat Fusion that I forgot what she sounded like. I should replay that game. It was great.

All of them! O.o. If you mean the Prime's, I'd rather not. I didn't like those one's as much as MP3. if you mean the 2-D ones, then maybe. But then there's a lot to go though. :P

Same. I did all of them in the two months before Prime 3 came out... except Metroid II and Hunters. I'm still working on Metroid II and gave up on Hunters. Hunters doesn't deserve to be named Metroid.

What is Hunters ;) Anyway, to you too luigi, I went through the whole series chronologically (Without MP3 of course) and it was very enlightening to do. Seeing how she goes from finding pirates, to finding metroids, to finding phazon, then destroying all the phazon, to killing all the metroids, to killing the pirates. Then, after all her drama, the Federation stabs her in the back. Bastards :x

Sounds cool. I never could follow the Prime's story and I've never actually played the original Metroid's. :P But I might but them on the Wii VC, it seems worth it. Anyways, I'm really tired so I'm going to bed, bye, it was nice having a Metroid discussion at the end. ;)
