Yeah, I was LIVID when I first heard about the avatars. I was under the impression it was being forced on us, and immediately started a diatribe calling the Wii everything under the sun for bringing us to this. Then, I found out it was optional, and my blood pressure eased off considerably. :D

I get what M$ is doing with this, and as long as it doesnt affect me, and I am not forced to make one, I have little to argue against it. But yeah, I despise them with every fiber of my being.

The funny thing is Sony announced Home a few years ago and it has yet to arrive. Microsoft announed avatars a few months ago and it will launch next month. Sony announed Killzone 2 back in 2005 and it's still not out yet. During that time Microsoft will launch Gears of War 1 & 2. Jamex1987

Who cares i knew about mgs 4- in 2005-6 and look it turnedout to be a stellar game

that its a 2nd life rip off, is having seemingly from the beta features removed because of copy right and porn, and because its been delayed how many times?

Its an outside application your being asked to use so as to get comprehensive menus and party systems and chat, where as with 360 i can do all that within the interface all ready.

who would wanna start a seperate application to do things?

The "avatars" were first announced on the E3 2008, so we have been waiting... 3 months. Home has been years.

Besides, no one is hyping the "avatars" as the next "killer app" (Home is). That's why is irrelevant if the avatars comes later or not.

Maybe its innovation, but you really dont have a leg to stand on until it comes out. The new XBL interface is due next month, so it at least gives us a foundation to work with in this discussion. Home, thus far, is nothing more than a myth perpetrated by the Sony machine that promises much, and rarely seems to deliver.

And while I do hate the avatars, the rest of the new XBL looks very interesting, and I am looking forward to it. Next month.

Number 1 in the market coming into this gen, number # 3 at the end of this gen. The 360 is going to beat out the PS3 this gen I am now sure of this. Just look at the numbers, and price point will always be better for the 360...

That makes it a business disappointment. That matters exactly nothing to me.

I get a great gaming system and movie player that has a ton of great games (as does the 360, which is also a killer system). I don't count that as a failure to gamers.

Are you a Bill O'Reilly? Are you really THAT one-dimensional? If Miis were Rayman then by golly they would not make sense in wii sports would they? Especially with web 2.0 being all the rage.

Practically everything about anything to do with gaming is copied nowadays. Not just from one thing but many things, infact, with so many influences its almost like origionality because you can't tell where its all coming from.

But Miis are definately the body of Rayman, customization from sims, and in game avatars of so many games its unreal. Plus motion sensing is not origional.

sry no its not innovation microsoft had something exactly like this planned years ago on the original xbox, and Mech assault 2 had avatar character lobbies so isn't this a rip off of that?
