I think a better design would be to forgo the plastic gears and put a pneumatic piston in the triggers that is pressurized to certain levels to provide stop/resistance..

Something like this .. this would mean the piston would push on the back of the trigger (which you could reinforce) and be less worrisome than plastic gears

That's a really good idea, it'd be more expensive but worth it in my opinion. Regardless, I'd like to see Microsoft follow Sony's lead and do more w/ their controller.

Microsoft controllers are chock full of plastic garbage to save a dollar. They will continue the trend

Meh. I’m not really sold on the resistance feedback thing myself. I’ll probably find it cool for the initial bit but eventually I’ll probably just want to end up turning it off after awhile. Doubt that I’ll want to have the controller resisting my input attempts all the time. Also I think that it introduces another aspect for the controller to break down.

It's more hype than anything. Now folks (Sony fannies) are talking about motion controls as if it is a plus. 😵

@girlusocrazy: The PS D-pad isn't bad for a basic D-pad, but once you get used to better...

I haven't experienced those issues on Xbox pads. I just don't like the Xbox 360 bumpers and obviously the D-pad.

I agree, got out my PS one and two pad and the sticks aren't great. Don't like how big and rounded they were on top.

I'm honestly not sure it would work.

A pneumatic piston needs to be provided a gauge pressure and, that would 1) be difficult to provide in an enclosed product like a controller, and 2) likely couldn't be provided in a way to support a variable control. Not to mention you'd likely have to include some other part to support the rotational movement of the trigger anyway.

Gears are very likely the best and most proven solution.

Lol ok mr Microsoft. It’s nice to have options. I know you have been conditioned to just accept whatever MS feeds you, but having haptics, motion controller and even the touch pad are nice features. Sorry Xbox can’t provide a similar experience - and I know that bothers you.

Your conclusions are completely biased by your allegiance to Phil spencer.

”it’s more hype than anything“ - words from a butthurt Xbox fanny. There’s nothing hype about providing superior trigger feedback. Most people who aren’t hardcore lems agree. Your hot take is as dumb as the rest of the shit you post.
