Not just yet it hasn't. Give the PS3 another 5 - 6 months and then we'll see if it has truly "failed" or not.fcjklosnSony announced victory over the Dreamcast in just 4 monthes. And the 360 is spanking the PS3 the way the PS2 spanked the Dreamcast.
It's been 5 monthes, the 360 is continually spanking the PS3. It's not going to change either. The PS3 will always be a more expensive console with less games. 127k in the U.S. for Febuary is pathetic. MS should go ahead and announce victory over Sony.bluebrad1974
Sony announced they've "won the console wars" with the ps2 only 5 months after the original xbox launched...
if it's good enough for sony to announce it, it's certainly good enough for MS to announce it.
with a "100 million loyal ps2 users" the cows like to brag about, 127k is truly, truly pathetic on an epic scale...:(
I think that what Microsoft can claim is the fact that they have probably outspent Sony 5 to 1 to get to where they are.SubcriticalTrue words. TC, Are you miss cleo?

Hell no. Give it even more time than that. The PS2 didn't even fully take off until Christmas 2001 - over a year after its initial Japanese debut. This is because we had to wait for the heavy hitters to arrive like Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. You know, the franchises exclusive to PS3 which are truly worth the $500-600 asking price?

While all of these Sony fanboys are sitting around waiting on the PS3 to get it's head out of it's ***, 360's are flying off the shelves at a steady pace.I think that what Microsoft can claim is the fact that they have probably outspent Sony 5 to 1 to get to where they are.Subcritical
actually sony has already stated they've spent billions getting ready for the ps3...
both are investments.
having the #1 selling console in under 5 years says MS' investment paid off...
sony's...? not judging from the poor ps3 sales..;)

I don't believe they have "paid off" yet. They are still losing money. But who do you think is going to pay for Microsofts investment? It certainly isn't going to be MS or shareholders. Where is all of that money going to come from?
.....must be from the pockets of video gamers a few years down the road when MS controls video gaming.....
That is there strategy, and it is bad for all gamers.
I rue the day......

it's been speculated by industry analysts the 360 is already making MS money... not to mention the xtremely high attach ratio of games to consoles, meaning more money. Â
i don't know what you think MS can do the industry's business model that would dictate such a paranoid belief...
it's funny that when sony had a stranglehold on the gaming industry noone seemed to mind as they milked us for b.s addons that shouldn't be there, ie; memory cards, network adapters, multitaps, etc, etc....... Â
if you truly think sony's plan of ecommerce and advertising to create money from the online endeavours won't be on the backs of its gamers, you simply don't know this biz very well...;)
rue away....

I thought Resistance: Floppage of Man was the PS3's heavy hitter? At least that what cows hyped it up to be. The Geow killer.

i agree.
i'm still not convinced sony would even be online with their console if not for MS. MS gave the industry the boost it needed to move forward.   Â
meanwhile, sony is trying to sneek their movie players into living rooms and hope noone notices at $600 a pop...
MS is doing more in taking gaming forward than Sony. You Sony fanboys need to accept the fact that Sony's goal with the PS3 is to sell blu-ray players, not videogames. Honestly, how can Sony fanboys be so delusional that they actually think Sony needs to be the market leader.bluebrad1974

TC, Are you miss cleo? those words are far from true. Cell + Blu-Ray + RSX = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ What MS has spent this generation is chump change compared to Sony's investment. that said, no victory can be declaired. there's no clear winner. I furthermore don't expect a winner to be named until the end of Holiday 2008. At that point, if there's no clear winner, there will never be.
MS cna claim whatever thye want, that won't make it true. I don't think there should be any declorations till after one solid year of competition. Come November 17, 2007Â all will be judged.
[QUOTE="crazyjames1080"][QUOTE="Tokaithegreat"] You're pretty ignorant of history if you didn't know that sony did the same thing. Sony bought a whole bunch of game developers during the time of the first playstation and beyond. They have acquired 989, naughty dog, ,Zipper interactive, Guerrilla games, Incognito and many more. You are a sad BLIND fanboy..Dreams-Visions
I can make it out.... but it's not a fun thing for me.

By the end of the year:Virtua fighter Oblivion GTA4 Assasins creed. These are all on the Xbox 360 as well. Home is not a game. Singstar is a ps2 franchise that nobody cares about. Motorstorm has already proven not to be a system seller so that leaves the PS3 with Lair DMC3 and Ratchet and Clank. PS3 will not have a system seller like Halo this year, Hell, I don't think they will have a million seller.
Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Virtua Fighter 5, Elder Scrolls IV, Lair, Devil May Cry 3, Ratchet and Clank, Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassin's Creed, and Singstar will have been released.
rumble will be back in the controllers.
Blu-Ray will more than likely be the only HD format on shelves.
Home will have been released.
the console will have launched in Europe, Middle East, and Australasia.
