[QUOTE="fcjklosn"]Not just yet it hasn't. Give the PS3 another 5 - 6 months and then we'll see if it has truly "failed" or not.-Spock-

Hell no. Give it even more time than that. The PS2 didn't even fully take off until Christmas 2001 - over a year after its initial Japanese debut. This is because we had to wait for the heavy hitters to arrive like Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. You know, the franchises exclusive to PS3 which are truly worth the $500-600 asking price?

Yeah sure... I could say Dreancast could win if they have waited longer for games...

Xbox brand - currently at about 30 - 40 million worldwide

Sony brand - PS1 + PS2 + PS3 currently around 200 million + worldwide

In conclusion , it will take MS and their Xbox brand light years before they can truly claim victory over Sony. Regardless if MS will win this war or not , they still wont be on Sony's level. Sony IS indeed the one that they need to beat. And the war aint over yet.

It's been 5 monthes, the 360 is continually spanking the PS3. It's not going to change either. The PS3 will always be a more expensive console with less games. 127k in the U.S. for Febuary is pathetic. MS should go ahead and announce victory over Sony.bluebrad1974
Wow...what an original thread. Should we throw a party for the 500th thread you created bashing the PS3? Jealousy! It stings!

In other news the 360 is still getting spanked by the PS2 in the US. And without Japan MS will never be able to claim victory over anything.

I don't think the 14% marketshare that Japan makes up is what you wish it was.

sorry it was more than 20-25%

I love the whole, Sony has a 100 million LOYAL ps2 fan base, so the 360 and the wii are DOOOOOOOMED. Sony certainly has many loyal fans, for sure, but if you loyal fans think that everyone with a ps2 is loyal to sony then you need to put the pipe down. The majority of ps2 owners are not going to go out and buy a ps3 because they have a ps2. When the time comes that they want a next gen system they are going to go to the local store and check out prices and games and get what they think looks cool. Most people couldn't care less who makes a console, they just want the most bang and the most fun for their buck, thats what it comes down to. A 100 million loyal sony fans, lol, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, and zelda, halo, and god of war are all going to be multi platform games.

While all of these Sony fanboys are sitting around waiting on the PS3 to get it's head out of it's ***, 360's are flying off the shelves at a steady pace.

While all of these 360 fanboys are sitting here claiming ownage, biggest blockbuster titles like MGS4, DMC4, Socom 4, GT5, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, etc. are being made. The same can be said for the 360, except they aren't as big of games with the exception of Halo 3.

I'll agree with you for the most part. But you left out Mass Effect :)

lol, you're such a fanboy.

No, Microsoft can hardly claim a victory so far. The US has always been their strongest market and is so far the only one they are doing better in. Additionally, even with the higher price tag and less games, the PS3 is selling faster than the 360 did when it launched... With more of the impressive games coming out this year and a price drop by next year, Sony will gradually creep up to take their lead.

EA, Square, & most industry analysts pick Sony for the win this gen, but with a smaller market share than they had last gen. I think that will still be a sting for them though. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yes, I think MS should claim victory right now. It will be great fun to bring it up when the PS3 starts to sell more and passes the 360. Go ahead MS.....please.

Yea, the PS3 definitely has the bigger year. The 360 has a few good titles to look forward to this year too. Just not as many. In addition to the ones you named, the PS3 is also getting Rachet & Clank, Killzone 2, Warhawk, Lair, White Knight Story, & Eight Days all this year.

With that kind of variety of games, the PS3 will definitely be moving more units. But I think the thing which will really cause the PS3 to start outselling the 360 is when the price drops and more people have hdtv's in their homes. The PS3 never has to be cheaper than the 360 (just look at PS2 & xbox vs. the gamecube), it just has to be more affordable for the masses that want it.

They cant claim victory until this gen is over...In fact the only console who is still spanking the competition is the Playstation 2  it beating out all next gen system in sales...lol..How come no one is talking about the Wii in no time it will catch up the 360..And the PS3 it can all change when the great games come out and the price drop..so they are not out yet...If microsoft wants to claim victory people will just point and laugh at them..

Thats just B.S.
Whoever has the most sales worldwide is the winner, even if they don't don't sell a single console in Japan. Losing Japan and winning the world is still victory, but winning Japan and losing the world is defeat.

They can't win more consoles worldwide when they can hardly sell a console in Japan. Sony will have steady sells in all 3 regions, so not having Japan at all is going to hurt MS.

Wow. A whole 4 games. That's defenitely worth $600.
