Is every move MS makes going to be scrutinized from the internet community from now on?percechNah, they could make donations to the disabled cows foundation and maybe then they'd earn some respect around here.
[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]Isn't that the same as the last few years? It'll still be online they just have exclusive TV rights, not like any other channel would show stuff like this though is it.handssssin recent years, at least g4 showed the other conferences and had a hell of a lot more and better e3 coverage than spike. g4 is dead now, so spike not committing itself anymore than it did in the past is pretty sad. And why watch the MS conference on TV anyways? everyone with an xbox can just watch it on their dashboard and anyone else can watch the stream on spike's website or someone else's. No idea, I've always just watched it on IGN or somewhere like that, suppose the only advantage of TV is it should be a solid stream without any drops in connection which is always one of the fun parts of E3, just as they announced something big the damn stream messes up.
gotta hand it to microsoft, they know their target audienceShinobishyguy
13 year olds whose parents will only buy them one console that play nothing but Halo and CoD?
Microsoft has had an exclusive deal in place with Viacom (who owns SpikeTV, Gametrailers, MTV, and all those other american cable channels, etc...) for years now.
This is nothing new. Its the reason Microsoft press conferences have been broadcasted on E3 since like 2008. (I think it might actually be since 2005, ever since the 360 reveal event). Geoff Keighley tweeted something similar prior to last years E3.

I think most of them already know that the X1 is for tv... so how?
weak, you'd think that you guys would have been able to come up with new jokes by now.but it isn't a joke... it is sad, but it is the truth...

[QUOTE="Bruin1986"] ...it's called business and marketing. If you "dislike" Microsoft for this...then you apparently dislike about 98% of all companies on the planet. Companies will do whatever can give them an edge over the competition...Bruin1986
Wonderful statistic you got there, where'd you get it from? :)
I know what it's called mate, doesn't mean I like it.
You need a statistic showing you what percentage of companies will try to get an advantage over their competition? That's like asking for a statistic showing what percentage of people in a restaurant would choose filet mignon over rat feces.
If seemingly "unethical" or "unfair" practices turn you off from a company...you shouldn't like Sony either.
It amazes me how people on this forum act like some companies actually "care" about them and their feelings whereas other companies only "care about money".
Hint: They ALL only care about money. Sony is apparently targeting the "core" gaming demographic with the PS4 because it believes it will net them the highest return...not because they sincerely care about making you all happy. Your being happy is simply a side-effect.
Don't misinterpret my statement. I don't think Sony is "evil" and I'll be buying a PS4 within a year of launch because it looks awesome...I'm just not delusional about Sony's true motivations.
That isn't what you said.
Not all companies would pay a lot of money to have their E3 broadcasted on Spike rather than invest it in games. But I'm sure you know that considering you're clearly a business overlord.
People also seem to act like PR doesn't exist, that companies don't do anything for their customers in order to gain their loyalty. Sony's playing all the right cards right now, so I like them. It's ridiculous to hate every company because they have the potential to rip you off.
[QUOTE="XVision84"]This affects you how?Seriously? Microsoft pays money for this? This is why I dislike M$.

Do you really need to ask? I'd like to divert your attention to Microsoft's past couple conferences and their Xbox One reveal.
If you think there's nothing wrong with the emphasis on TV rather than gaming, then I really don't know what to say to you.
They're obviously putting their money in the wrong places, focusing on timed exclusivity, gimmicks, and media rather than what actually matters.
This negatively affects the gaming industry because the consoles are becoming less about gaming and more about entertainment. Even if Microsoft goes down because nobody buys their Xbox One, Sony would be alone in the industry (besides Nintendo who are clearly doing their own thing). I don't think I need to explain why less competition is a bad thing.

Why not wait until the MS E3 conference/show before passing judgement on them, shall we?MS explicitly stated beforehand that their reveal show (which admittedly was bland and boring to me as well) was NOT going to be about games but more just about "this is our console and these are other things you can do with it." The fact that it can play games goes without saying so I guess they found no need to focus on this.
MS has stated that their E3 conference will be all about games. If they bomb that as well...then by all means count them out as a serious contender for core gamers. But at least wait until they actually show what they are developing...
People here seem to believe that MS putting more of an emphasis on secondary, non-gaming aspects of their next console is a zero-sum equation. It's not...
The Xbox team at MS has grown considerably over the years and it's perfectly feasible that they are creating just as many games for the XBone while ALSO adding new features.
It's just quite sad/ignorant to see posts on this forum literally saying "Even if the XBone is the greatest gaming console ever, I'll NEVER buy it because of their new focus on TV/general entertainment"...which I have actually seen.
I am still confused as to MS thought process here. WHY would somebody buy a game console for a TV experience? There is no reason to pay hundreds of dollars just to be able to change channels faster.
If you aren't going for the gamer audience then even if people buy your system whose to say those casuals are going to give a damn about your games? Game sales could end up being pretty sad on the system....
Oh well, been ready to go with the PS4 since it's reveal anyways. Seems like it is going to be the only great system this gen sadly...
Who cares about E3? I just want to know when I can watch Star Wars for the 8th time this year. Get on that Spike TV.
Why don't you save all the drama and the butthurt until AFTER E3? You sound just like all the fear mongering news reporters.[QUOTE="percech"][QUOTE="WitIsWisdom"]
lol... you want to talk about hyperbole?
how about the fact that the word hyperbole is used about as often as pugilist and prestidigitation in every day talk, however has been overused on this site like butt hurt even though 90% of the people here have no idea what it really means...
The way you used it makes absoultely no sense seeing as though what I said is something I can back up with some pretty good evidence...
Do I need to start throwing out all the "billion" quotes Microsoft has been using? They are trying to buy a fanbase, not EARN one from hard work and good business practices.
No hyperbole there... sorry, try again.
However I don't think you actually know what hyperbole means... so I probably wasted my time anyways.
WitIsWisdom
You sound like you're about to cry.... lol
Listen little one.
I bring absolutely no drama with me.
Also what in the hell would I have to be "butthurt" over? Do you know what that means either?
Fear mongering news reporters? What in the hell are you blabbing on about? lmao
Bad press is for good reasons most of the time... however, if you have inside news I have not heard.... by all mean please enlighten me. You sound just like the Microsoft fanboys that said "just wait until the 21st!"
I will buy any of the consoles I want. I actually want the X1 to succeed at some point in time... that being after Microsoft is forced to change their policies because too few people bought into their horrible business policies that are trying to corner of the market...
I will buy the consoles that supports the industry the most. So far as of right now, I will be buying a PS4 and at some point a WiiU. If Microsoft changes their policies I will buy an X1 as well. However, if SONY takes a similar path I will not support them either.
I have always supported all gaming companies, however I will not support the decline of the gaming industry because a company that could give a shit less about the future of the gaming tries to force people to conform to completely asinine terms to be able to USE the products we BUY from them.
As I have said many times... it is NOT the console I am not liking, it is Microsoft's policies. So, try to get your facts straight before making assumptions.
Check my game list if you don't believe me...

Never even heard of spike.Must be an american thing.Looks like MS is showing all their Xbox fans from around the world a big F U.T-Bone91The States and Canada. Spike TV got popular because of their willingness to show UFC and The Ultimate Fighter. Now they only have a few good shows and every once in a while shows a decent action flick.

Well, we'll see this E3. It's not like I want Xbox One to fail, that'd be ridiculous. The more competition, the better ;).

Why would Microsoft pay to be exclusive to Spike?
It's the other way around. Spike wants to be the only with X1 coverage, so that they can get all the advertising revenue...
Dodgeball at 6, huh? Gonna have to remind myself to set the DVR. senses_fail_06
I was thinking the same thing... good movie.
I hope this doesn't count as one of the fifteen new exclusives.getyeryayasout
It actually counts as at least two because Microsoft can't count to fifteen without somehow getting to one billion....
Who watches E3 on TV? Can't go without the Axe commercials?Cherokee_Jack
I'd rather watch it on my 60" from the cable box than hooking up my computer to it. Perfect opportunity to get some handheld gaming done too.

I guess lemmings need the small things. Microsoft may actually embarass themselves again.
