The ps3 is Hugely MARKETED AS A BLU RAY PLAYER.....On commercials.....They let you know that its a blu ray player....No where does it tell me that I can call microsoft and get a 20g harddrive for 20$

In the Uk a Wii is £50 ($90) more expensive than an arcade X-box 360 and the same price as a 20Gb x-box 360.

I think the X-box will win in USA and the UK with japan being a close call.

Wins worldwide by a slim margin around 400k over the last quarter but still loses over the entire year.

I also think that the ps3 will win in europe by around 150k units over the late october to early january period.

So you'd rather pay $700(The price in most of Europe) for a Blu Ray player with 60GB than $220(Arcade + Harddrive) for a just as good console? Seriously though, If they plan on going on LIVE, they'll need an internet connection. If they have an internet connection, they're smart enough to check up on products.

If consumers feel "screwed over" by it, then it is their own fault for not staying informed. I'm sure there are many people who will look at the $200 price tag and go "oh lookie!! Teh 360 iz so cheap now! I want it!" This without even knowing what they are getting in to.

Thats because when PS3 outsells 360 its by 5 consoles. When 360 outsells PS3 its by 100,000-200,000 consoles.

The price cut was looong overdue. The 360 held its price far longer then the PS3 that had 2 price cuts in its 1st year.

I agree, I mean - we're 3 years into the 360's life span. The core model has only seen a $100 price cut if you think about it. It started at $299 and now it's down to $199.

Well, to be honest, I dont know how fast consoles of last gen got to the $200 price point... but it seems like it's taken this one forever!
