"I know a lot of folks enjoy watching the console wars and we would never underestimate our competition. But answer to your question specifically, didn't Sony promise all of this last year including Home as well? We have been fighting Sony's promises from the day we entered the market and if you remember at that time it was all about PS2 being an online cybercity with partner announcements from the likes of RealNetworks and AOL. Then three years ago at E3 they showed what PS3 games would supposedly look like with the Killzone 2 video, that we are now learning will ship four years later. That means that we will have shipped Gears of War and Gears of War 2 before they can even get Killzone2 out the door. Think back to GDC 2007 when Sony promised to leap ahead in online with the Sony Home unveil. Here we are two years later and multiple delays for a product that has appears to have little to no buzz. Where are the achievements? The friends list integration across all games? Where is the long-promised video store? Where are all the other products using and networking with their CELL chip? How come Blu-ray did not result in better games? What happened with Sixaxis and rumble? Where is the complete 1080p game library we were promised? If Blu-ray as they said would be such a catalyst to PS3 console sales, then why have PS3 sales over the past couple months not seen any lift since the format victory?

The reality is that Xbox 360 is leading this generation with a larger installed base, more than 2xs the games library, the most exclusives along with the leading online service and community. While we have not yet announced all of our plans for the full year, I am confident that we will extend our lead over the PS3 in 2008. Today Xbox 360 has a 5-million-unit console sales lead on a global basis based on most recently public reported data from both companies. This includes more than double the installed base in the US according to actual NPD sell-through and over a 1-million-unit lead across Europe also based on reported sell-through from Chart Track and GfK.

But since I like logic and math, I just did some light research and some math.

The 360 has sold just over 5 million more units than the PS3 in NA. Sony has sold about 1.4 million more units than MS in Japan. So for the 360 to be 5 million (roughly) higher in sales they would have to be up in Europe by at LEAST 600k units.

To argue this is to say that the 360 is not even 5 million units ahead of the ps3 worldwide, and to say that EVERYONE is wrong (NPD, ect.) and you are right. I have been saying it for a while. Sony is lying.

i deffinitly agree with all these delays ( especally killzone 2) but everything else seemed a bit hostile and he seemed very angry that sony is doing very will epecally since PS3 has now sold more in europe then 360 has. microsoft has been very lame latley with there rude comments.BTBAM127

To paraphrase what he said, MS does not believe that it has to worry about the games that Sony and it's fans say will "kill the competition in 2008" because some may or may not come, since Sony has a habit going all the way back to the ps2 of touting features & benefits that never materialize.

It was a brilliant move, and thats why cows are having a hard time dealing with it. They didn't attack Sony, they defended themselves against the "Oh NO, SOny has 2008 on lock with part 4, 5, and 13" of the same old stuff they have been talking about for years.

I was really happy that he mentioned the RealNetworks and AOL deal that we never saw the benefit of on PS2. I was excited when I heard that last gen and almost bought a ps2 when I heard it. Decided to wait until it had a date, which of course never came. Then Xbox came and there was no looking back for me.

I'm a supporter of all systems first of all, to clear away any fanboy comments some may use. Now, honestly, if I were Microsoft, I would be really pissed too. If you look at the two consoles, Microsoft has tried way harder than Sony, and despite fanboy comments, does indeed have better overall games than the Playstation. That's not saying PS3 doesn't have good games, especially with MGS4 coming. I'm also not saying that Microsoft is perfect, because the RROD scare has me buying multi plats for my PS3. But come on, with all the effort Microsoft has put in this time around, and the pure arrogance and minimal effort Sony has used, there is no reason that the PS3 should be catching up in sales, other than a cheap Blu-Ray player. I own both, and a Wii, but I'm the exception, most can't afford 2 or 3 modern consoles. So why Sony is catching up is beyond me.
