You guys are stupid in business its so funny MS didn't loose any money at all because they was making a 70 profit on each system since launch. Production cost lowered and taking the Kinect off of the xbox and dropping the price 50 dollars still giving them a 10-20 dollar profit on each system. That's why they sold it for 500 at launch because they already had this planned. Its not MS fault that Sony is struggling with money and cant afford to do this because they don't think far enough ahead.

MS move is a desperation they have loss all months since January and on September got an ass whoop which account for more than half of what they got inn advantage in November with huge price drops free games and gifts 400k based on freebies and huge price drops 254 K based on nothing because a damn Destiny bundle was $460 dollars even more freaking expensive than a XBO with free destiny+ free Forza 5 you don't get it how the fu** MS loss September and by almost double really waked up MS they knew at $399 people will not buy the unit even when they freaking give the game people were buying a PS4 for on September free.

Sony redesigned the PS3 for 2 reasons.

1-They need it to lower the manufacturing cost the PS3 cost Sont $800+ to make and was sold for $600 more expensive model.

2-And to close the price gap with its closes competitor.

But like i already prove sony has been redesigning consoles before the xbox was even here,so you have no leg to stand with that argument dude,in fact backward compatibility on the PS3 was done by the EE and GS basically when you bough a PS3,you were buying both the PS2 and PS3,since sony keep both processors for the PS2 inside the PS3 and that drive up cost the PS2 was still like $129 or $150 on 2006.

Oh and the PS3 outsold the xbox 360 world wide pretty much since it started dude..

Increase cost comes from the fact that they requested more units,and since the unit got a freaking price drop to $399 the margin on loses widen,on the Kinect bundle it was say to be $471 to make thats like $29 dollars left from the $500 they charge.

But on the Kinectless one the margin is just $4 dollars after the price of manufacturing,so that leave room for nothing basically,when you add shipping to US and other countries and the take store like gamestop take for selling the unit.

Now we have to create a new formula to calculate Ms loses it is epic..hahahaa

these figures are not totals for the year – they represent the changes over the previous year.

So yes they spent more, and earned less, but that doesn't mean that you are losing money. If the previous year the revenue was 5 billion, and costs were 4.5 billion. Then this year, revenue would be 6.7 billion, and costs 6.6 billion, and they would still have a profit of 100 million dollar. So for as long as we don't know the numbers from last year, which Microsoft never gave, we can't really know if they made a profit or not. And that's what's wrong with the other articles, because they are all saying Microsoft lost 400 million dollar, which is not necessarily true, it could be much more, and it could also be a profit, we just do not know.
