This whole thread is pretty disgusting. The biggest takeaway from that article, if you actually read it, was the following: "Microsoft studios has said that... creating more diverse stories, including more female characters and ethnicities, will make for better games." What exactly is so wrong about that?

It is very clear from the article what MS's stance is. Women are becoming more and more attracted to video games; gaming isn't just a "boys club" anymore. Therefore, they want to promote more games with a diverse cast of characters. I guess if you're committed to loathing Microsoft you'll try to spin the headline "MS: "Women are the New Core"" into "MS wants to make games more casual", but taking that away from the article is in itself a sexist line of thought.

I wasn't the one who made the thread. I never said casuals were necessarily bad. TC's line of thinking was that MS saying "women are the new core" translated to "casuals are the new core" which in turn translates, in his mind, to "we're going to make more Kinect games." See: "I can kinda' see where he's going but it can either be good or really really bad and when I say really really bad I mean Kinect and Dancing Family on stage at E3 Bad. And if they actually put a dancing family on stage at E3 I will...I don't know what I'll do."

I can't think of many pieces of media that have greatly improved, or improved at all, because of diversity in the somatic traits of their characters, and we've been going on for centuries considering literacy, poetry and compositions made for theatre representations; in fact I believe that notion is in huge disharmony with the fundamental objectives pc people want to push, equality. It's a poisonous mindset.
