MS's Obsidian >>> All Sony Game Studios

Well one of my top five games is by obsidian and none of Sony studios games make it so it must be true

To be honest I haven't been in the mood for a bethesda-fallout-style game lately, so it's on my lower priority list

Edit: Obsidian is okayish but saying they are better then Sony is a bit of a stretch. But I do adore Fallout: New Vegas, Knights of the old Republic 2: Sith Lords, & The Outer Worlds was dope.

no sony exclusive comes even close to fallout nv

I agree I couldn't get into Outer worlds, and I usually love that style of game. But their back catalogue of Fallout New Vegas, KOTOR 2, Alpha Protocol, Pillars 1 and 2, South Park and Tyranny outshine any single current Sony devs output.

Sony Liverpool mayhave had them beat (formerly Psygnosis). Have a gander at this back catalogue -, Assault Rigs, Destruction Derby, Wipeout series, Discworld, Ecstatica, F1 games, G police, Colony wars, Lemmings, Rollcage, Shadow of the beast, Alundra, umm barbarian lol.

One of sonys biggest mistakes was closing down Sony Liverpool Studios.

Yes now that Rare is fully unleashed off of trashy Kinect projects Rare is making a good comeback.

Nah not at all it's actually pretty good but maybe to hardcore for some. The only downside to The Outer Worlds is it might be a tad lower budget then you would want but you hardly can tell. But with MS funding the Outer Worlds 2 is likely going to be a far more fleshed out big budget AAAA game.

InXile is going to release Wastland 3 later this summer looks really good, but InXile is also working on a huge new big budget open world RPG FPS style, and they have added many developers to the team and growing with MS pumping money into them.

Anyone thinking MS won't have top shelf hardcore games next gen is delusional. MS has some serious good developers in their stable now and MS is pumping money into them and building them all up.

MS and Xbox is back. MS is back where they belong catering to the hardcore garners with the most powerful console and building up their games library for the hardcore big AAA gamers.

I mean if you don't like Fallout style RPG's then obsidian wouldn't have much to offer you.

That and a lot of their releases are pretty buggy.........

I like them, but I don't think they're a god tier dev.

It would seem now with MS pumping money into them they are now going to transform into a big budget AAA developer at the highest level. We should hope.

I believe all AA studios can transform to AAA. All they need is a big budget, more employees. Microsoft will simply hire to devs to manage and design. They already hired a lot of top devs away from Sony

Obsidian is a great developer, but dismissing Sony's lineup of games and history isn't wise. I'm a huge fan of their original titles such as PoE 1&2 and Outer Worlds. Plus I loved where they took NV and Kotor 2. Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Japan Studios, etc all have a very nice resume as well. Why not just enjoy the games they all make as opposed to just comparing them?

The Outer Worlds was over hyped and under executed. Every other game they made that I loved was from years of the past. Look at companies like Square and Rare.

I wish all three of them the best of luck in their future endeavors though, and I really hope they can all make a game/s that I enjoy in the future. Only time will tell, but for now Obsidian isn't even close. We will see what throwing some cash around does for them though.

While I like Obsidian and certainly think that they were a great acquisition for Microsoft I’m more interested in seeing how The Initiative turn out and what they got cooking in development.

I agree and honestly the PlayStation 4 has never had a good exclusive game developer.

Here's hoping they don't become too successful and well-liked; would hate to see them pull a Bioware and be yet another "AAA" studio that prints money instead of makes games.

The Outer Worlds is not hardcore? are you kidding me?

Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I love how it is a concise and relatively short game (I think that is a strength, not a weakness). I think it lends itself well towards replayability.

But hardcore? No. Just no.

They are not off to a great start. The Honey I Shrunk The Kids game they are making is not looking good to say the least. It looks like we may have another Rare on our hands where the studio goes to shit after joining MS.

Obsidian doesn't have it's MVP , Chris Avellone on the team anymore , so in terms of narrative design , I doubt you can see games like NV again however Tim cane and Leonard Boyarsky showed they still have their spirit , Outer Worlds was short but it was a sweet experience , also let's not forget about inXile Entertainment , they're really talented considering how small their team is , all in all Microsoft have the best teams for making great WRPG titles

Not sure why everyone liked Outerworlds, I was anticipating the hell out of it and I thought it sucked.

Most Ponies now will say It sucks and Obsidian sucks now because they can't play part two or anymore Obsidian games. so now all the sudden Obsidian sucks to the Ponies.

I agree Outer Worlds is a great game and clearly shows what a great pick up they are for Xbox but they aren't better than every studio at PS. In fact the whole "better" argument is fukin stupid. They make great entertainment, ND do, 343 does, Coalition, NT, Santa monica, Sucker punch etc all make great entertainment. Just play the games and scrap this arguing over nothing bullshit.
