I will be playing Mass Effect 3 for the singleplayer, of course. If the multiplayer is good, then I will play that in addition to replaying the singleplayer. If not... I'll just stick with the singleplayer.
Competitive multiplayer I think is a bad idea for ME3, I don't think the game mechanics really suit it.
That being said, Co-Op it is more than perfect for, throw in some co-op puzzle(ish) places and they have an awesome game made 10x better.
Eitherway Bioware (IMO) have never produced a bad game so far and I'm sure this will be amazing, they aren't the kind of company that would take a step like this with such a big title for the sake of it. My guess is that it's been there from the start and they have just chosen to keep it hidden.
lets just tack on some mp as that seems to be the cool thing to do these days :roll: good one bioware, i wish these singleplayer devs would just stick to what their good at ffs
while it may be good it does not have a place in the game. it is totally unneeded. why the hell everygame features a MP mode? this is beyond me. i do not want a MP mode in a single player experience. they should release a differenet game like Mass effect wars or something. and as always all critics will say that MP is a plus. some games are meant to be single player only.
Was hoping they would not tack on multiplayer, but it seems every game has to have it now. Hopefully it'll be alright; however it is annoying that they probably delayed the game for this.

Unless GS pulls a MGS4 and conveniently leaves out the on-line portion of the game when reviewing - pfft, ME3 could get the AAAA ? :o :twisted:
You know, I really wouldn't have minded waiting one more game before adding MP (and designing it from the ground up with MP in mind), but EA/Bioware couldn't wait. Better actually be good otherwise it will be wasted effort. Oh and the achievements better be easy if there are MP ones.

Exactly. Count me and a couple of my friends as people who fit what you just said. My initial plan was just for Mass Effect 3 to drop down in price and then buy it new. Because a there is no advantage to playing a single-player game earlier than someone else other that you can talk about it first. Not a big deal to me.
But there is an advantage to getting a game with multiplayer earlier, especially if its competitive. So if the MP turns out to be any good, this might just be a Day 1 purchase.

If they delayed the game just to include this component, I will be very disapointed. They want to milk people for online passes.

Me 1 and 2 are already lenghty games with lots of replayability. i ve played me2 3 times ni a row, i have 5 characters. i ve sink more than 200 hours in it. Same can be said for other ME lovers. MP is totally uneeded. it stains the brand name mass effect(R). there are SO many games out there MP focused, go and play BF2-3 cod , halos, KZ3, R3, Gow3... not saying that these suck in any way but leave mass effect alone. anyway we shall see if the game wil be spoilt

There are games with multiplayer that don't have multiplayer achievements.
If it's, say, some kind of situational co-op thing, separate to the main storyline, where you play through standalone missions as 3 or 4 characters involved in some way to the attack of the Reapers, that would be fantastically good fun and could possibly serve to deepen the game's storyline in itself, I'd actually quite like something like that, as long as it doesn't end up being detrimental to the main campaign, which if Bioware manage themselves properly it shouldn't be. Something different... meh, I'll pass, I have nothing against it being there but I just won't really play it.
See if more people would have bought these games instead of pirating it or buying used, they wouldn't have to release these games with multiple game modes. -oh wait? Does that not work in this topic?

I've replayed ME2 several times as well. Yes I would agree multiplayer is unneeded however, for the non ME lovers multiplayer can be a draw in thereby increasing sales.
