Mass Effect is a shooter, why shouldn't it have multiplayer?

I've replayed ME2 several times as well. Yes I would agree multiplayer is unneeded however, for the non ME lovers multiplayer can be a draw in thereby increasing sales. Well they already have a bunch of my friends onboard. Some of them would have never bought and/or played Mass Effect, now that ME3 will have multi-player, they now want to buy it and play it.[QUOTE="ioannisdenton"]
Me 1 and 2 are already lenghty games with lots of replayability. i ve played me2 3 times ni a row, i have 5 characters. i ve sink more than 200 hours in it.
Same can be said for other ME lovers. MP is totally uneeded. it stains the brand name mass effect(R). there are SO many games out there MP focused, go and play BF2-3 cod , halos, KZ3, R3, Gow3... not saying that these suck in any way but leave mass effect alone. anyway we shall see if the game wil be spoiltmrmusicman247
In all, Single-player only gamers will play Single-player. Multi-player only gamers will play multi-player. And people who like both, like me, will play both.
It all fits what EA wants and Bioware has the budget to focus on both modes. Lets just hope they don't screw it up.
Found out about this on Twitter via Game Informer... it's official. Game was delayed to add multiplayer, because EA doesn't like single player only games. It's funny, Bioware came out a few days ago and insisted EA wasn't calling the shots and that they had complete autonomy... yeah, if that were true, ME3 would still be set to release this year as strictly a single player game.
I shall get rid of both ME1 and ME2 and cancel my ME3 preorder tomorrow when I go to pick up Forza 4. I can no longer support this series, unfortunately.
Mass Effect has a huge pontential for multiplayer. padaporra
While I generally agree with this statement, I wish they could have waited until we finished Shepard's storyline before adding MP. The first 2 (and third) ME games have strictly been about Shepard's fight against the Reapers, no need to make it about anything else. Wait until his story arc is done, and then design the game from the ground up with multiplayer in mind, whether that be PvP or Co-op.

Exactly. 100% agree with this. But, thanks to EA, that is not going to happen.Booooo for this. ME has never needed Multiplayer; I hate how developers are all following this trend now...
If you had asked me 2 years ago if I though an Assassin's Creed game would ever have multiplayer I would have said "HAHA no way it would suck." Yet they got multiplayer and it was pretty fun and unique. Not to mention "multiplayer" could mean any variety of modes, so I'd say lets wait and see what kind is revealed before we fire up a ****storm.

[QUOTE="ioannisdenton"] your friends then are missing the point. Mass effect is about shepard and his race to save the galaxy. it is not about Mp. if they haven't played any Me and jump right at me3 then they should not choose to play me3 in the first place. [QUOTE="Doolz2024"]

Bioware has now confirmed multiplayer and it's co-op missions. Horray?
I don't see the complaints personally, it might actually be good with the class systems they have but it really depends how far they go with it. If there's no RPG elements within the MP then I don't see the point in having MP in a game which has RPG elements within the SP.
I don't think adding multiplayer is such a bad thing. I mean, Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed added multiplayer and it ended up working fantastic for both games.
The problem is that it seems like EA doesn't give a crap about the quality. Dead Space 2 added multiplayer and it sucked, Crysis 2 got delayed to work on the multiplayer and it still sucked. So right now I'll be skeptical. It could be good like with Uncharted 2, or it could be terrible like with Dead Space 2. I'm hoping its good.
