Nice! Looks like it's closer to Crysis 2/3 than 1 and I'm not really saying that as a bad thing.
The twin employees look a bit ridiculous :P
I like this new approach on the franchise.
Have you seen the Forrest Level in Shadowfall? Its very Crysis 1 eske. Watch the video preview of Shadowfall I just posted:)
I do take issue with comparing Shadowfall to Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 though...
Not only because Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 were bottom of the barrel FPS generic thrash along side the awful generic repetitive Halo 4..
But because.....
Shadowfall is much less linear, looks to have much better -more inspired encounters, has MUCH BETTER art, a much more interesting story to work with, and just over all seems much more interesting...I can keep listing the differences too
I believe I watched most KZSF vids. I LOVE pretty games and FPS (campaigns).
I can't remember much verticality with Crysis 1 except that stage with a huge crater/ditch after you meet the first *spoiler***** "those stronger enemies" for the 1st time. But I guess yeah, you can climb almost every sniper posts in C1 and there were some houses w/ 2nd floors.
Crysis 2 had more vert afaik, and KZSF presentations feels more similar to that.
I love Crysis campaigns. 1 and Warhead had the best non vestigial vehicles and world items (cooking pan weapon!), load outs (actual inventory) in the series (I'm not really sure but I felt I carried more weapons in C1 than 2 and 3), 2 and 3 introduced weapon and suit upgrades for the campaign encouraging re-plays.
I love shooting down humans, humanoids and aliens. It was fun when aliens tried to come at you inside buildings and they don't just stay on ground, they jump around floors to reach you. Tranquing C1's Korean's was pretty funny.
3 had pretty good on the fly customizations for weapon and nano-suit module sets.
Stealth assassinations and ledge grabs definitely stroke me "Ah Crysis (2/3)" When I watched the whole Sony Presscon months back. Though i guess it was more FC3 with the Knife throwing)
KZSF visual presentation is closer to the approach of Crysis than the last gen iterations w/ a higher color palette and higher contrast and realistic approach (the hands are kinda huge (OCD?) w/c I found weird in prev. games [cartoony but not relaly] [see KZ3 poly vs KZSF poly model pic that looks like sniper LOD comparisons]).
The fact that plenty of the environment shown are somewhat modern bldg. interiors remind me of the Crysis 2/3 settings.. and that realistic organic stage too (forest, water, etc. unlike "alien organic forest" in KZ3)
Cutscenes in KZSF seem to have moved significantly more to 1st person like/closer to Crysis than KZ2/3
The Higgs guarding or securing pass throughs (w/e, like Airport thing) vaguely reminded me of the quarantine segments of C2 with civilians.
Optional objectives (does KZSF have this?)and "tackle different ways" is closer to Crysis series than KZ 1 and 2.
Planting bombs on walls on KZSF reminds me of having fun with the cheap houses in C1 and blowing them up similarly.
Scanning plus "shown UI" giving enemy details/class -realtime too, vaguely reminds me of Crysis 2/3.
Shielding and scanning somewhat reminds me of the nanosuit too except the OWL is an awesome mobile version (it can stun, heal and shoot.. afaicanremember the blue sparks that the nanosuit can emit is only during power drops or w/e that was called).. I wish they'd make the "defib" in Crysis actual in game mechanic (the nsuit does this on C2 but afaik it was a cutscene)
Vent/perimeter crawling reminds me of Crysis series too. Can't really remember doing it in KZ 2 and 3.
KZSF looks to me closer to 3 than 1 because the way KZSF has presented itself to me is as Cinematic FPS with Sandbox elements having modern-futuristic-realistic elements/aesthetics.. Crysis 1 was more sandbox to me than 2/3 (the animals were just weird and the water traversal was more than 2/3).. I reserve my final judgement on how "sand-boxish" KZSF until I try and finish that game (I will but not soon.. IDK what device to get for holidays [phone, tablet, console, gpu, laptop, etc.. I can only get 1].. but my gut tells me it won't be as sand-box as C1.
Sure Crysis wasn't the 1st game to do those stuff in games but to me it was "a package" of the mentioned mechanics/antics that created its own personality.
IMHO, KZSF looked overall as a modified "Crysis Series Template" but in KZ universe.
Again, this isn't a knock against KZSF. I really love this approach!
Oh and I haven't played past Halo:CE but I am sure I will love all of its campaign when I get the chance to.
(Weird, I feel like Halo:CE was sandbox-ish, I remember huge areas and getting lost several times when I played the campaign with my dad)
