good change IMO...now people won't sit around and camp around the flag for kills and actually go for the the flag to get points...and i'm going to assume capturing the flag SHOULD be way more XP than a kill

lawlessx

So defending your own flag is camping now? -.-

I think what he means is people are too worried about dying to actually run and get the other team's flag so they stick around at base.

Well that would result in you frustrating the other team which could give you the victory :P I dont usually play the objective base games as teamwork and strategy is actually required. And my teammates being mindless drones is enough reason for me to stay away from those games :P

this too

i HATE to stupid K/D ratio stat....that stat ALONE has ruined online shooters...it's all most gamers worry about online these days is their K/D spread and they all take objective based games as a way to boost their stats by sitting back and not dying

Killstreaks are no longer killstreaks.

In the new co-op video that was revealed, it shows that killstreaks are PURCHASED in-game with XP you get from kills/flag captures. very similar to how they work in HOMEFRONT.

Good or bad change? What do you guys think?

drakekratos
You are assuming that Killstreaks work the same way in Spec Ops as they do in competitive multiplayer.

I wish they would introduce the dogtag killstreak system, so it would encourage people to camp less. So the blind would actually complain less and maybe actually enjoy cod :P And for the actuall killstreak I would like them to actually help your teammates, like in blackops with SR-71 and counter UAV.

GTSaiyanjin2

no good for objective games where youre supposed to be defending a certain area

Yeah I really like the idea now that someone mention it would be for the objective base game types. But for TDM they really need to do something about camping as its one of the many complaints I always hear about.

The only problem is that most people rush out of fear of getting backstabbed if they're not on the defensive which gets them shot when running into a camper. While it is true that chances are, you'll be backstabbed for being slow, you can mitigate those chances by having a rear guard who can help greatly when enemies spawn everywhere in modes like TDM, Domination, and HQ. Problem is, most people don't have headsets.

Even then, from my experience, the average camper doesn't know that you're supposed to camp with a teammate watching your back, not a claymore. It's very rare to see solo campers use a motion sensor instead of a claymore. Equally rare to see people use a jammer when attacking campers, though they do use flashbangs and concussion grenades. Smoke grenades can obscure a camper's vision if they're too far away to blind with other tactical grenades.

Next CoD, I want to be able to customize my loadout on spawn like BC2. Even better would be having the ability to swap loadout and resupply in the field, though I'm not sure how that'd work in non-objective games.

Bad, that should of limited it purely to objectives. That'll help team play.ocstew
CoD and Team Play should never belong in the same sentence. Team work doesn't exist in the Campaign, neither does it in the multiplayer.

People still play this game? wow.

Heirren

Lots of people still play Call of Duty. Where have you been?

I thought it died down. Most of my MW2 addicted friends are over it. I figured there was still a community going, but it isn't still on the level it was, is it?

No its gotten much bigger then before.

It finally might get people to actually play the game mode, instead of playing "team deathmatch" and just go around killing the opposite team and completely ignoring the objective.

I was hoping they would impliment something like this into COD, because the old system just promotes camping.

This is why I loved Uncharted 3's Metal Kickback system so much. It is so well integrated.

Black ops is the most popular online game in the world right now. Same for Modern Warfare 2 most likely.

ChubbyGuy40

Uh, no. WoW still has more activity and so do other PC MMOs.

7 million people play CoD each day, and 17 million people play Black Ops every week.

Call of Duty is, by far, the most actively played game on the planet right now. WoW is nothing in comparison.

Wait. If it's a co-op video of course it's not going to be based on your kill streak. You would get to 10 in almost no time at all.Ace6301

I know you mentioned Homefront, but didn't Crysis do it before HF and didn't Counter-Stike do it before Crysis?

That's, uh, interesting. As far as I'm concerned people can have infinite killstreaks as long as the weapons and perks are remotely balanced again, and the maps are decent.

Killstreaks are a bad idea, no matter how you twist and turn it. They should get rid of it completely.

Well we dont really know much of anything at this moment. But if it is like he says everyone in the match starts out wuth 0 XP every match, its not like you get the keep the XP, that would make no sense.

Agreed. Then it could be what is was meant to be- based on skill, instead of being based on camping.

Hmmm that discussion can go very deep. If you make a game to trigger the right hormones inside of us, so that we feel successful and happy all the time, you can sell a lot of that game. But why do all that work and make that game instead of giving us a syringe? I think the addictive feeling is one to avoid. You can have some of it to kind of enrich your game experience, but too much and making the game becomes meaningless.
There should be more to games than just that feeling.

You could always play barebones pro if you dont like killstreaks or perks for that mater. Or classic if you liked the system that was in COD4.

Actually that could just be Spec Ops specific, there's absolutely nothing to indicate they'll work that way in multiplayer. It makes sense for it to be this way in spec ops if you think about it, since you could get a 9 or a 25 kill streak in an instant against crappy waves of enemies, but by making it points based it works like Zombies, you save your money and decide what to spend it on, do I use it on defences like buying a Sentry gun or do I save it for one big blast on the enemy like an air strike, or simply buy a better weapon.

Uh, that was spec-ops. You buy killstreaks in spec-ops. Nobody said anything about buying them in multiplayer.

Even worse than the old system...now people don't even need to get kills to get ridiculously overpowered killstreaks.

I disagree, with the rising influence of psychology in general medicine, the increasingly important role of beliefs and values in the healing process, the possibility of a new dialogue emerging between science and video games framed in terms of spiritual experience, and the potential impact that different models of consciousness might have on our understanding of character development.

A barebones/objective barebones mode will be featured? I just think killstreaks are lame to the fullness, and don't want to play with them.

Kill streaks for me atleast killed the COD series. I wish it would go back to the way COD1 and COD2 were for online.

All these kill streaks,etc.. just does not do it for me. Also seemed like people worked more as a team in COD1/2, while in these latest cod games its all about ME!!! RAMBO style.
